    What do you think of the Paul Merriman 4 Fund Portfolio? Get it here: m1finance.8bxp97.net/rnzVQd

    I like the Paul merriman four fund. However, I decided it is not an optimized portfolio because of the heavy overlap between the blend and value funds. I decided on just large cap blend and small cap value. Historically, this has done better than the four fund.

      I'd probably agree, Jason. My own portfolio tilts Value within small caps but not in large caps, and also shuns small cap growth stocks. Though it's worth noting that sometimes large cap value and small cap value move at different times. Many also like to have a dividend focus, which is usually effectively large cap value.

      One replacement for me would be 50/25/25 VOO/SCHD/AVUV.
      + More exposure to the "market average Index";
      + Move the "large cap value" etf to one focused on dividends;
      + Only exposure to small caps combined with the value factor;

      Another powerful combination that I'm excited too see future results it's the 2 fund portfolio AVUS+AVUV, maybe something like 70/30 or even 75/25.

    I myself have majority all-world stock index and S&P500. But this video is making me reconsider adding small-cap value.
    Thanks for the short and straightforward video, with the suggested ETFs to use!

    Thanks man! Good tips. I like VTI but VOO is also great.

    Just missing an international etf but I like the portfolio.

      Indeed. I'd definitely incorporate some int'l exposure.

    I wonder how 50% schd and 50% ijr would compare ?

    • @OptimizedPortfolio

      SCHD is basically a naive proxy for US large cap blend and IJR is US small cap blend, so lower expected returns than the 4-fund portfolio presented here.

    Is there any real reason to prefer something like this to 100% AVGE?

    So I currently have in my portfolio, Ada, Abbvie, AMC, Doma, Home Depot, Kroger, McDonald's, Johnson Johnson, JP morgan chase, Pepsi, Proctor Gamble, Voo, Walgreens, Exon Mobil. So anyhow what are your thoughts on the list of things that I just listed on here? Are they like great picks? Now I understand if you may not be comfortable to answer this, but I like just to get an opinion on this.

      No idea. I don't pick stocks. I also can't provide personalized advice.

      @OptimizedPortfolio Right. Well thank you for taking the time to respond to this at the least.
