How To Spray Paint Properly-Full Tutorial

- เผยแพร่เมื่อ 12 ม.ค. 2025
- In this video, I show you how to spray paint properly. It is a simple tutorial on using a spray paint can to paint something with an even coat and without any drips. Most beginners that are using a spray paint can will not know how to do it properly because it is very different from painting with a paint brush, and most people are used to painting with a paint brush. With that being said, I show you the technique to use, and talk about the distance from the object that you are painting and how they play an important role in spray painting properly.

My caps always go flying! 🤣
Same lol!
I’m just glad at least 62,000 other people didn’t know how to spray paint.
Same
They do now
I know but i dont know how to spray properly
241.992 now!
Yes, I am in good company, obviously.
Thanks for including the cap problem. I'm tired of TH-cam experts who seem to want nothing more than to show off, do it perfectly and make me feel stupid.
Genuinely needed help but I can’t help but laugh my ass out. This was amazing!!
I would love for this guy to be a teacher at school, imagine how calm the students would be after having this guy as a teacher
All facts! He sounds like a pretty pleasant guy 😊
They'd be out doing better graffiti on walls. At least they'd wear gloves and not get drips.
Win.

Started spray painting the bathroom alcove with the rustoleum appliance epoxy, just a small area, fan in place, window open, and allowed it to dry over night. It does look great but I became hesitant to continue. You are greatly appreciated for the encouragement to finish what has been started. Great day to you.
So, have you finished ?
@@PotatoGnome indeed, it does need touching up, it looks pleasing to the eyes. Great day to you.
Had to spray paint for a project and I tried before but didn’t turn out well then saw your video and it helped so much
I did everything he said not to do before watching this video 😅
Same lmao
I think we all came here cuz we mess something up. Lol I have bubbles in my little jars 😭
@@rayzam.6913 you didn't let your coats dry before reapplying
Yup, I’m sanding my vintage Westinghouse box fan right now to prepare for priming…. The previous paint job was mediocre to put it lightly.
Yeah same lmao
I like this advice because I am spray painting a cradle. This really helps out because I want it to look really good. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it a lot!
I watched this after I spray paint 😣 I wish I saw this video earlier but thanks for this video. So helpful! And the beginning was funny😂 nice way to start a video
Hello everyone
My favorite part is when he said " Staying & Spraying " That moment put a Big Smile on my young & tender little face😊
This Guy is the BEST !!!!!!!!
Thanks for the help but ngl in the beginning u sounded like kermit the frog🤣🤣
I was thinking Saul Goodman
Yes the Texas legislation also wants me dead
😆
omg yes
I thought morty hahah
I’m so happy that you did not edit out the part where you couldn’t get the off!
Thank you for presenting this so simply. I appreciate you!
bro this guy is so wholsome i dnno i just feel like this guy is an awesome dude
Thank you, great tutorial 👏. I think you can improve by using a different colour background or paint. Using brown paint on brown background made it difficult to see the results.
Came for the spray paint but stayed for the energy lol!
I've been doing it wrong..love your basic step by step tips, btw, love your upbeat personality too .thanks for posting
It's such an easy thing, but watching this gave me confidence to finish up some projects
Thumbs up just because of your personality alone ❤ informational, funny, and cute. Thank you 🙏
Nice set of simple, practical but still important tips - thanks!
Chur my bro very helpful I have been clear coating headlights and now I know why I have had drips hopefully this will help me when I start up my own business for headlights restoration thanks again my bro 🤙🏽
Love this dudes energy, very helpful video too!
“I’ve spray painted a lot of things in my life”

Thanks a billion I was doing it the wrong way and was very upset but now I have painted my grandma's old trunk 🥺
In the past, my spray paint would always turn out very sticky and thick. This tutorial helps a lot thanks.
It’s because we overdo it. I was having the same problem. Also having runs and wrinkling. It’s because I was putting too much paint on. I thought the more paint the better right? Nope, thin coats is the way to go.
Thanks so much for this!!! You covered everything I was doing wrong! 😂 Now I know how to spray paint correctly 😊
Thanks again!!!!!
this guys hilarious im glad im not the only one trying to find out how to spray paint
I'm going to spray paint our bike tomorrow. Just to let you know that this is the only class I need
Great advice! I thought I knew it all about spray painting. This guy's information made me realize that there are great methods and there are bad methods to apply paint with a can. I'm going with the great methods- those that build upon my only and current knowledge of pressing the cap. I often don't know how little or how much I know about something until I listen to and view someone who sees things in a different manner. Thanks Mr. Helpful DIY!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial!
You're a lifesaver! I'm going into class tomorrow with a bit more confidence when it comes to spray painting a project piece
Thanks for your video I remember the first time I painted something, it was an old dresser that I wanted to look nicer so I bought spray paint and started painting it without cleaning it,using primer and the worst, I was using too much paint so it didn’t look so good 😂 anyways now I have a metal bed frame I want to paint black and decided to watch a couple videos so I do a wonderful job :)
how did it go man?
I'm planning on spray painting ceiling tiles a glossy white. This video helps immensely with what to do (and not do). Thank you!
Thanks man im going to paint my moto bike
This really helps
super helpful! I've ruined more things than I care to admit! thanks so much!
I should of watch this first. My whole thing is lumpy and dripping
same 😟
now I have messed up pc case
@@Rimikshi it's ok I'll do it next time when i paint, ran out of spray cans :(
Grab a wet towel and just rub it and then respray
You should probably see a doctor.
I forgot the glove 😂 Should of watched this before I sprayed. Watched this before I go in for a 2nd spray. Thank you 👍
Bro thank you cause i have a couple items i wanna paint at the crib
Plus the cap stuggle had me weak af stay cool bro
Great tutorial, thanks!
its good tutorial and all but the fact that you chose to use brown spray paint on a brown sheet of cardboard is ....
Thank u dude u make my day just keep going
Michael Rapaport out here helping people! Respect
He couldn’t take off the cap, that shit is the most realistic and funny thing here 😂😂😂. Worth the like
I was hearing this guy talk and was confused why I recognized it then I realized at least 5 of his vids on driving cars was shown to me in drivers ed 😂
Too fun. Lol Thanks for your great personality and for making the video. Much appreciated.
I still watched the video despite that and you killed me at 4:53 yo confidence was great lol " I know it sounds really good"
Thanks so much for this video! Definitely helps with my DIY projects. Next time, use white on the cardboard. Hard to see with those colors but you definitely got the message across! Do you need the spray paint primer or can you prime dark stuff with white spray paint before putting the final color on?
Do you use respirator?? Or just a face mask??
Shake for a whole minute. Keep can in warm water before painting.
For how long in water
@@vexopia 5 - 10 minutes
@@vooshmoozik6185 right thx
Why?
Good deal man thanks I've actually never heard about keeping it in warm water I've only ever heard to spray in a warm no humid area which is found on the back of the can but you need to shake it until the ball stops rattling 😉
1:34 (pause) you see that little square at the bottom of the cap? Well it's a hole and it's used for prying the cap open with a flathead screwdriver.
soulassassin0g omg!!!! I never knew that! I struggle opening cans too 🤣🤣🤣
Thank you so much. I’m trying to spray paint my electric guitar and I was having trouble getting an even coat. This was such a helpful tutorial
Love it! Very clear, easy to understand and follow. Thank u!!!
Appreciate the Tips! Thanks..😚
After 100 of fake instruction video ,finally a video that's straight to the point.
Bro made my spray painting skill better no drip at all now cheers 👊💪
thanks. how long till it dries up?
After spoiling few bottles, I decided to watch a tutorial so that I dont spoil the rest 😂😂 Thank you so much. It was really helpful with all the details 👌👌👌👌
My professor would approve this video! Quick question-- why not place it on the floor to be sprayed? That's what i do, with a good sized tarp underneath and curtains around to contain overspray. That means fewer drips and accidental wild overpray is contained.
I love this dude. thank you for making me smile bossman. This was a good learn :)
Good information with good humor. That's a winning combination.
How would you Waterproof/Weatherproof something after painting??
Thank you love your enthusiasm Be Safe and God Bless
Really amazing and very descriptive video !
Thanks in advance !
thank you for this. i have a little experience but its from years ago and i just got some wings for a cosplay so this was very very helpful in decorating them
I appreciate your time with explaining this.
Thank You, And I Hope My Interior Trim Comes Out Nicely
Just like Gordon Ramsay says with his spices
"Don't worry about adding too much, you can always add in later but you can never take out."
American Jacksepticeye struggles with the lid
Clear and precise. Thanks.
Nice tips man. Thanks 👍🏻
Thank you for doing this video. I bought a like new silver trash can with a lid to spray red and put a "vintage gas station " sticker on it for our classic gar garage -for my husband as a gift. It's been sitting here waiting for me for a few years- going to do it tomorrow. ( we live in a hot climate so I'm waiting also for weather to cool off. ) However- obviously this is a curved surface so I will need to be sure I am applying the paint correctly. Any pointers anyone? Do I need to do 2 coats? Thank you in advance.
Thanks for being a great instructor!
What primer would you on metal?
Hi - I'm painting a metal project right now, first time and I've researched a lot - for rust-proofing and a durable finish you need (2-part) epoxy primer. I made the mistake of brushing it on and it took an absolute age because there are lots of nooks and crannies. I'm about to start the next project, similar, a storm drain cover, and I'll definitely spray paint. I don't have a compressor/gun setup so I will go with can spray epoxy. I will order online because it's not available in the shops here where I live in the far east - it is a generic name, called "2K epoxy primer".
The brands here all retail for roughly $10 a can. The paint and the hardner come in one can, you activate by pressing a button on the can base and shaking, like normal spray paint. If you don't need rust resistance/durability or this is too much hassle then you can go for polyurethene primer. The least resilient is acrylic primer. Hope that helps.
Awesome video!
I still wonder.. do you know how to avoid the little dusty spray debris that kind of lands on everything that you’ve already sprayed? I’m thinking maybe I can buff it after?
You’re so funny I love this!!
Thank you homie, that was super helpful
Very nice video!! I will definitely practice on cardboard first!!
You sound like Badger from breaking bad haha anyways great vid!
EXCELLENT video!!!
This was awesome! Thank you. I bought some candle holders so I was looking up a DIY with spray paint and came across this. I really needed the help because I always leave drips from the paint. Thank you for a great tutorial. Also, are you from the midwest or Illinois, I can hear an accent.
Hey man awesome tutorial!
This is so much more entertaining with the speed set to 2x 😂 but thanks for the tutorial my friend!
I love this! Amazing
So i just got the rust oleum gloss black paint + primer. The home depot rep said i dont need to prime because its a oil based spray paint. Im trying to paint raw mdf
I’m trying to decide if he sounds like kermit the frog or Jack septiceye
Sounds to me like Michael rappaport
Combination
Thanks Kermit
Thank you Jordan Peterson for the spray painting tips!! (All love 😂❤️)

LMAO I immediately heard Jordan Peterson too.
Currently resperying my skateboard thanks for the tip
This is so good.. I think you are amazing person in video
I subscribe because I love your intro, and content
I can’t ever get my lids off 😆🤣
Bro I went from thinking I know this shit to, ahhhh now I kinda get it, of course with enough practice
Bro, I'm not going to lie, for a second there I thought this was going to be a troll video and that the rest of the video was going to be 7 and a half minutes of homie trying to get the lid off the can... 🤣🤣🤣
Tnx for ur video I wanted to know how to prime if I'm spray painting a cardboard??
No, you don't stop spraying before each swipe. These cans tend to spit when they are first pushed to spray. You keep spraying all the way till the section is done. Only one push to start and one time to release.
My caps always go flying! 😅🤣
I still can't do it properly xD my object is full of weird sharp angles ;-;
