Been meaning to try an ironman but the completionist in me screams and I always am in the mindset of supports and stuff plus not letting villages or green units die…

Iron Mans have taught me to always fear the 1% crit

I think growth units are fun in an ironman because they compound risk reward behaviour. Fire emblem is about resources more than anything else and how you utilise them, giving growth units exp is risking a lot of those resources for a potentially bigger return in the long term. Now that argument can go either way based on if you like gambling or not 😂

Currently on my Lunatic CQ Ironman and agreed a lot on Defense and hyper planning. The one thing I feel different, and this likely goes on a game-by-game basis, is that I still love to use the growth units because I really value the potential they give to make the harder parts of the game easier with investment, while also using the reliable prepromotes of course, but point is that ironmaning made me want to use those growth units because in a Reset Playthrough if I failed some strategy I could just try again with the same units I always use, and I was never fond of growth units, but now that I don't have that luxury, the cost-investment is sometimes worth it and is always fun

I hope this video blows up, I've never heard of you or seen your videos before but this was an excellent watch. Maybe I should try an iron man now too...

Harder difficulties and ironman made me learn the value of generals and bishop, and walk back on my appreciation on swordsman and bad mages. Sniper came from really enjoyable to niche utility with only one, maybe a back up, that can be consistently use in each chapter. It s really good to change your view on game and unit ( Looking at you Roger with insane def that could handle anything in shadow dragon, even dragons alone in 3/6 and 5/6)

I don't do iron mans but I started out with turnwheel games (SoV, 3H) and used them to prevent stuff people would call BS. I then played the other 3DS games and on classic and good lord did they help me get much better. Crits weren't BS, you can negate them, dealing with ambushes with formations with my team and taking time to prep as well as better use and defense of dancers (3H I either don't use one because I want sword avoid on a unit in a different class or they become a dodge tank lite so they aren't so bad when the odd attack comes their way. ) i genuinely think turn wheels are bad design and just having skirmishes and casual mode is more than enough for an easier time. Maybe keep it NG+/post game, but it just takes so much away from players who will use it because the game gives you it, why wouldn't you?

I think playing the games in different ways makes different aspects previously ignored to have a spotlight. I've done a good few ironmans so far, but find myself a very slow player. I think doing some drafts could fix up my pacing.

I’m relatively new to drafting, but it definitely has expended my playstyle as well! It’s still not my favorite mode, but it is an interesting approach

My first ironman is (I'm still working on it) FE8 hard mode
I was tired of FE8 on account of having save files deleted by siblings, or scrapped emulator runs. I forced myself to beat it.
Then I thought "You know what, I'll try ironmaning this" and I love FE8 again.
So if you're ever tired of a Fire Emblem game, ironman it

I wonder how much better armor knights would be percieved if tier lists were made with ironman runs being taken into consideration too. (Also personally not a fan of how ironmans encourage you to use the same units i.e. the best units, also just realized the video got reuploaded)

I have completed two iron man on conquest lunatic and I have to say that now if I ever where to do another one, and I Will because I love this game to death I would feel forced to use some precise builds like hero Xander and sniper Mozu just because of how consistantly they break the game, sou these Iron man challenges took some fun out of the game for me and I don't know how to solve that and not feel like I'm sandbagging with my team choices, if anyone has an idea I would love to hear it and try it out !

I started to do Ironman runs. Just started HHM and so far, took 3 attempts to get to chapter 15. Early game can be tough on the first chapter sometimes. Goal of this run is to use only Hector ...as a lord. Benching Eliwood/Lyn as much as I can.

Well, you say Ironmans save you a lot of time. I assume that is because you succeeded in every one of them. If not, resetting a ironman failed during mid to late game and doing it all over again from prologue is much more time consuming than resetting a chapter.

I know you said that you don't do grinding in your ironman runs, but I don't understand why people don't go to the arena. It's a high risk high reward option that the game gives you. You need to know which fights to pick and which ones to pass on, and a few unlucky hits or dodges means that you can end up in a much worse spot than you were anyways. Its useful for getting the replacers up off the bench if/when a heavy hitter gets killed and its only as inifinte as your time - because on hardware, you can't fast forward through combats, so going to the arena takes significant amounts of time if you actually want to get tons of levels out of it.

    • @FireEmbros
      @FireEmbros  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

I'm so terrified of arena in ironmans because I feel like it's an unecessary risk. I really only ever do it if I'm 100% certain I can handle it.. and even then.. spooky ahahahah!
