  • Hopefully this is the end of a trilogy with the Audi A7 with 'all faults'. We carry on from the last video where we removed the damaged engine and swap all the parts over to the new engine, but will it start? will it run? Lets find out...

    10,000 miles is the max for a petrol car, diesels contaminate the oil with carbon from the exhaust, this is abrasive and breaks down the oil fast…. 7,000 miles is the max between oil changes. This one step will extend the life of the entire massive but as most people lease cars and they are in warranty they simply don’t care, its the second owner that foots the bill.

    Thankfully the code for the servo fault went. Had a similar fault on a 17 plate a4. I believe there is a counter for x amount of brake depresses and the control unit tells you the servo needs replacing. If you send it off to a company such as Ecu testing they can fix it for £300 ish. For future reference.

    These engines do not fail because of the 2-stage oil pressure.They fail because of the longlife intervals and driving on low revs all the time, especially while city driving. It is a highway car. I do know cars with those motors which have done 300-400 kkm and they are fine, but it needs a proper 0w30/5w30 oil changed every 10kkm and dynamic style of driving with a mostly highway driving.

      Well said - the engine was designed for autobahn barnstorming and if you are not using it that way you've chosen the wrong car (engine). Of course many choose these engines and don't optimise them, hence all the problems.

    • @toeknee2u
      @toeknee2u หลายเดือนก่อน

      2 stage oil pressure doesn't help matters - you're right re the longlife oil changes - but as you say yourself they spend a lot of time at low revs - technically in the low pressure oil window. There's also a design issue, also exacerbated by the low oil pressure to do with the variable valve timing gears, which rely on oil lash and at low revs its considered doubtful that they get enough 'quality' lubricant and by the time you factor in the longlife oil 'quality' you'll be looking at a bill somewhere north of £5k for parts alone on a car with as little as 70 or 80k on the clock. - I don't have a Q7 any more....

    When they are new from the factory, there is a setting in Basic Settings for running-in oil pressure that times out after 1000Km (700miles). If you have VCDS or similar, you can turn on the running-in oil pressure every 1000Km for maximum (conventional) oil pressure regime.

    After the first drive did you have to drain oil for metal shavings? Or do they come pre broken in from Audi?

    Dean, there was a small spark at the rear of the engine where there is a red cable.

    I think you have to code the injectors to the ecu aswell if you put ,,new,, injectors to the engine

  • @andrewbaines8760
    @andrewbaines8760 หลายเดือนก่อน

    If the oil pressure is low by design in ecu, surely that engine failure would be a valid warranty claim no matter how old it is due to it being a issue at point of manufacture

    @1m30s thats utter insanity this (apparent) emission reducing stuff all things considered are an absolute net negative in their own right and ONLY a tax on the consumer one way or another inc maintenance/repair costs...

      Agree, low oil pressure below 2.5krpm is madness, these cars spend most of their time in that range

    • @alexkemp9001
      @alexkemp9001 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Although without the emission reducing tech you’d be pumping all that out of exhaust. Why should a passer by suck that up? Audi should have done a proper job in the first place
