- In this video I repair a 20 year old shed with wood rot. I also discuss how working with your hands boosts your confidence in many areas. You don't have to try to tackle a project this large but you need to do something.

Fix somethin, clean somethin - just do somethin, wallowing in your own pity party aint never helped nobody. You a good dude sir.
That's right. It'll help people gain confidence and self-esteem.
100% Real talk! More people need to just fix something. Even if you don't succeed the first time, try it again.
Absolutely, getting good at anything takes work.
Thanks D̶a̶d̶ Daryl, these little pep talks are refreshing compared to the usual how-to, especially for me who's never had a mentor.
Thanks, I'm glad that you're getting something from the videos. My feeling is that with a lot of the things that we do, there's more to it than just the process so that's how I approach this channel. There's plenty more to come.
"What's that worth? " Your answer is happiness!
You know what works well, you need to get down on the ground. But you cut 8-10" up, run Azek around, and put Z flashing so it goes up behind the T-11 and over the Azek it will be there forever, it will never rot again.
You are absolutely correct. I wish they would just build the sheds like that from the start.
All I can say is… The Finisher! 👊🏽
Much appreciated 👊🏽
Thanks bro I just watched 2 of your videos I can listen to you drop gems all day.
Right!👍🏽
Another banger bro .. the harry mack of this game 😂👌🏾
Lol, thanks bro!
Man I kinda liked the 2 tone with white trim
Good on ya for just diving in and fixing something….I could use the inspiration! Thanks man
My man. Another great video.
Thanks, much appreciated! 👊🏽
Just wanted to say you got a great voice for this it's actually relaxing listening and watching your videos thanks for that btw.
And almost seems like a podcast bc you go off to while other story or subject talking about your work its great.
I bout lmao when you said I used to work in a lab testing soil, I was like dammn he for real he has worked in everything 😂
I enjoy your videos, they are educational in both what you do as well as what you say, thank you.
Love the Harry Mack reference. Perfect analogy! Good work out there my man. New subscriber here!!
Hey Daryl you earned a like and a subscribe for your positivity, and motivation and inspiration and keeping it real. thanks.
Dude, you made me smile. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
Thanks bro, I appreciate that!
Nice job, looks great! Not going to lie, I was thinking to myself that you skipped putting any drip cap on that new bottom T-111, but you fooled me! Came back for Round Two and punched on the trim with caulk 👍 Can’t complain! Thanks for the video!
Lol, unfortunately I lost the footage of me putting on the trim but I know what you mean. Appreciate you watching!
I got the skills confidence I need the encouragement to deal with the customers watching me work and touching my tools and having opinions that breaks my focus flow like every ten minutes. I'm discouraged today.
Great job Daryl...brings back memories!
I appreciate you watching, glad you got something out of it!
Solid advice, and solid work sir. Thank You!
I appreciate you Ray!
Building confidence goes a long way
Absolutely and it transfers to different parts of your life
Way to ro finish!!!👍🏽
Thanks 👊🏽
Need to get you an Amazon store. Tryin to find that bread pan lol
I can't wait to get out there! Still snow up here but I spend most of my summers in suburban yards fixing and building 🌞
I hope you enjoyed the day!
It's weird, things have been backwards for me this year. So far most of my work has been outside which is not typical, but it's been a pretty mild winter so I've been enjoying it.
Two thoughts:
1) You could coach/mentor a half-way lost young man, turning him to a decent path before he stumbles too much and gives up or turns tonthe dark side.
2) My career has been working with my head for four decades; that suited me, but I have also been jealous of people skilled with their hands, so now I'm trying to catch up.
I might do that next summer when the youngsters are out of school. I thought about it but needed to be in a position where the money isn't as critical as it was. As far as learning this work goes, now is better than ever.
You rock Daryl!
Out here in south Florida as a new tradesmen.
Love the content.
Keep posting brother 🔨
Congratulations on getting started! Thanks for watching.
I have to do the the exact same repair for a customer. Rotted lower sections. I was unsure about how to meet the sections together for weather proofing. I see you used some trim boards and caulked. This is how I will do it. Thanks so much for the video.
Kool sir & I hear you about having confidents in yourself but in my case I'm my worse enemy. I defeat myself even before I even finish a project. Talk about replacing the master cylinder I need to change it on shty truck LOL LOL LOL I was a firefighter but retired not by choice. I also bought an airless from Harbor Freight & used it once & again I didn't like how I painted never used it again. I need to fire my 3 worse enemies ME, Myself , & I. Had a widow maker 7 yrs. ago I miss my job so much. Bueno sir I'll be watching for the next video & some past videos have anything on replacing wooden post on a wooden fence? Let me know again Bueno thanks here from Tejas.
First things first, glad you're still here with us. We are all our own worst enemy sometimes. If I was focused I could have started this business years before I did but I always had a reason or excuse why I couldn't. In reality, I just wasn't confident enough to get started. As long as you keep them projects going you have no choice but to get better. I don't have any videos on fence posts at the moment. Thanks for watching though.
Great work man!
Thanks!
Really nice job be blessed
If I strip out a Phillips head I will use a square bit to loosen it. It typically works well. Love your videos Daryl!🖖🏼
That sounds like a good idea, I have to try that out. The biggest issue I was having was some of the screws were already rusty and then they painted over them.
10 piece screw extractor sets are around 10 bucks at harbor freight in a sturdy metal case with a built in interior stand - but , disposable bits are always a better tool to destroy . They're made to be .
Comon man, Daryl using old fashion level, what gives where’s the fancy laser? Seriously, great job thx for the good info 👍👍
I know, lol! All these laser levels and I didn't bring one to this job.
Mannnn, I just saw this in-person today and WOW! I thought it was a new shed 😭
Thanks!! Still have a couple of small spots to touch up with the paint but overall the project went well.
Great video. My old shed looked like that. It was directly on the ground and never got a chance to dry out. I put a stone pad down before the new shed was put in place.
This one has stone under it but I think one side sank down a little bit.
Great Video and advise Daryl. Question? Do you charge by the hour or by the job?
awesome content brother
Thanks, much appreciated
Nice job with the shed. I myself learned a lot working on sheds. From roofing to doing the paneling just like you did. Curious though what did you charge to do that paneling and total cost for the shed renovation? Or if you want to give a price breakdown that works too lol. Good audio too. In the coming years the trades will be more in demand.
For this job I would normally be in the 3000 to 3500 including materials for a shed this size. It was 12x20 . All included it's rebuilding the doors, new bottom half of paneling, trimming the corners and paneling, priming and painting. I did it for a little less because it was a customer that I've done a lot of work for over the years.
Nice job ! Thanks 4 the words of incouragement .😊
No problem, I appreciate you watching!
Love this video! ❤❤
Thanks Matthew!
No z flashing?
good vid bud.
I appreciate you bro
Love You Positive Energy, Train Of Thought And Reinforcement Of Purpose....!! Stay Focused Sir...!!
Thanks, I appreciate that!
🔥🔥
i'm an idiot and i diy all the time. if i can do it, trust me you can do it
I've worked at warehouses and plants also😒😒
I couldn't stand those jobs!
😂 These new age dudes can’t operate a screwdriver.
Unfortunately you're right. It's way easier to deliver bags of food than it is to learn some skills!
@@DarylTheFINISHER
I was talking to a couple of kids who were laborers trying to become assistant superintendents for a custom home builder friend of mine.
They quit to go to a warehouse job because it was better pay!
I tried to tell them, thats short-sighted, they don't want to put the time in to learn. Fast forward 20/30 years, you don't have a skill except working in a warehouse
@@Anthonycapone8146 I know what you mean bro. Having a skill is everything. Even if you don’t use it to make money, it might help your family or your community someday.
Great video 🛠️
