"Squad" is an FPS set in the current modern-day environment and a squad-based warfare game. A single match consists of two belligerent factions, each divided among smaller squads that could have a maximum of nine players. Each squad is made up of individual classes selected by the individual players. Available classes include medic, combat engineer, anti-tank specialists, and various types of riflemen. A squad of players is led by one squad leader who can communicate with other allied squad leaders and construct firebases and defensive emplacements like crew-served weapons and sandbags. Since the game is set to be really realistic, you’ll not often even see the person who’s shooting at you, unlike games like say CoD where you often run and meet your enemies at the corner of the street. Instead, you’ll be doing a lot of suppressing fires, mortar strikes, or throwing smoke grenades. Karmakut, the TH-camr that did the gameplay, is specialized in making immersive, tactical, and teamwork-oriented games with his friends. They’ll roleplay the way they’re communicating through the radio, the way they’ll take a position, or even organize patrols.

He’s damn right about the communication aspect. Without good comms this game this game is difficult to play. Would not recommend to casual audiences. Imagine the chaos that ensues when your team gets ambushed 200m away from a concealed position. Without good leadership and communication you get demolished.

I remember a game where me and my two other friends took out two BTR's, 3 squads, and an incoming logi trying to build a hab (which was probably their command)
it all happened within like 5 minutes, we actually managed to push one of the BTR's off the cliff which was fucking hilarious lol as we watched it panic and try to turn towards us to shoot us out of our lav (had no ammo left) but I'm pretty sure the BTR forgot he had HE's instead of AP's loaded as we just casually rammed it off the cliff after easily taking over 80-100 shots from the BTR with little to no dmg to our lav and the other BTR hit one of our friendly mines that a squad placed earlier in the match further down the road from where we pushed the BTR off the cliff and while they tried to repair it we ambushed them and I managed to finish it with one shot as it burned off later because I probably managed to ammo rack it which was lucky IMO (I still have the clip of it, and it's hilarious lol), then around a minute later another two logis tried to go into the woods above us and setup a hab at a small compound but we managed to instantly kill everyone off the first logi and then we ambushed the other logi that was trying to setup their hab, we did die a few times but since we had a medic and I was on hat and our other guy was running rifleman we survived for awhile since we had ammo bags (we kept resupplying ammo from our lav and rifleman), anti armor and healing capabilities all in one little shit squad, god I love squad I'm actually gonna hop on in a bit again now lol

Game is absolutely fine to play as a pubbie.
Loads of people have fun in the game and fuck around.
There's a decent mix of clans and casuals that play the game on regular basis so its mostly fun to play. Game is relatively easy to learn, some map knowledge, uniform and gun recognitions as well as vehicle sounds recognitions and you're good.
This entire game is completely based on communication. A squad that simply speaks and calls out info and sticks together is wildly more effective than a regular public squad
I've read about units in Afghanistan and Iraq who because they had members who were of Arab descent would have them carry an AK and put them on point because the insurgents for a split second might think that they were one of them.

@@superpeens7289 Game's absolutely amazing. New faction (Chinese military) coming in just a couple of days. Regardless if you're a casual player that likes to hop on in the evening or someone who likes to invest time in the game, you won't regret it. I've got around 1800 hours in the game and out of all other games that I've played, Squad i enjoy the most.
Genuine recommendation if you're into games like Squad.
The only thing I have to mention is that the game requires a mic. Not in general, but you're expected to have one and to communicate with people. Regardless whether that be mocking around and talking to people for fun or to call out something

Karmakut would've been a good one to show him in this game. This is probably my favorite shooter game, but I don't get to play it much. It takes a lot of time, coordination, and communication. I jokingly call it the game where you hump it at the slow to a location for thirty minutes for a thirty second firefight--which isn't really a joke. It happens. Matches can last something like an hour to two, so it's time intensive.

Saw a video of Shroud in a bunker and having the time of his life awhile back, this game is amazing.
9:07 with the competitions I would think you should be able to always know how many rounds you have because of trigger discipline. When firing singles it's easier to count each bullet. Burst fire you count the trigger pulls and full auto you just have to figure out the average of your trigger pull for situations it gets foggy there but with proper discipline and training it should be easy. Now in chaos it can be forgiven if you lose track.
They should have these guys react to a Rubixraptor or a Rimmy Arma/Squad video

As a medic main its kind of a judgement call every time. Dragging is finicky and slow, revives are fast, and smoke works. I'll usually only drag if I have a good squad who knows how to lay down accurate suppressing fire, if I'm separated from the squad or they're inattentive it's usually safer to just prone and rev

Its most realistic I think. Coming from former marine. It just has that feel close to real life especially the sounds and feeling game gives. ARMA is to janky in my opinion but has more variety. Squad is just gritty and lifelike. They done a good job emulating real life.

The infantry combat overhaul has completely changed the meta. You need to use actual infantry tactics now, since running and gunning is useless.
The game has COMPLETELY changed. Its so much different.

Well, there's no kill confirmation of any kind in Squad. You won't even know how many kills you got until the whole match is over.

You should have told him, that there are mods in Squad like the one in 7:30 this is Middle Eastern Escalation (MEE) mod wherein the squad leaders are the ones who have can mark and the team leader markers are kinda useless
What are you talking about? MEE has radios for everyone. All factions within the mod have regular radio and local voice chats. There hasn't been any changes with that. MEE is literally a mod with special forces and some insurgents but quite literally every single faction has a radio in the game.

From a casual point of view you can draw some similarities to real firefights like communication and positioning but thats about it. If you have played Squad alot you know it's mostly about sending bodies towards an objective and not really about advanced military tactics. Squad attracts many wannabe soldiers who take it way too serious.
Tbh a squad of soldier wannabes is fun to be in but yeah it doesn't help much when 90% of leadership effort is thrown into actually getting the frickin blueberries to the points in the right time..
Actually when I play this game, it seems like at least 60% of the demographic are actually Iraq and Afghanistan veterans playing together, Even those with PTSD often play this game with their buddies. Its very immersive.
I guess being with buddies and 100% knowing it's in a virtual environment can help with PTSD. I'd see it as using nicotine patches to slowly get off of cigarettes, but in this case virtually exposing yourself to combat and having a friend to anchor you to reality.

First off, every two to three words, a curse word is typically inserted. Second, the way people play this, the squad leader shows lack of confidence in their own team. Third, the way players move about shows not cohesion and lacks SOP when moving from one objective to another. You think you know, but I can tell you from experience (because I was both a team leader and squad leader), there is a lot that LARPers don't know. And the game should be called "Team" instead of "Squad," because thats the size of the elements people play as.
I played project reality for over 6 years and people always called the tactics used in that game stupid. Then the Ukrainian war happened and alot of the game tactics were and are being used in that game

Usually is. I remember when they had them react to Tarkov they showed a guy hatchet running and getting a kill as the whole of the gameplay. It got rated less realistic that cod. Idk why they wouldn’t show at least normal gameplay or more tactical gameplay

There's no way a CO wrote off on using enemy ak and ammunition we could have spiked their supply line. Also the weapons in the unit fulfill a squad tactic (pun unintended). If they needed a 7.62 they should've gotten one or two SAW m240s or SDM rifles of the same caliber. We're not a bunch of disorganized terrorists hoping to get lucky with large rounds and pop shots we operate at a higher level of efficiency. There's also the tactic of carrying and distributing the load for all that heavy ammo which is done more efficiently with ammo bearers and a saw. Unless they were special forces and even then that's unnecessary. I'm sure nothing cuts through brush like a GAU-8 or m2 browning too. I'm not a veteran and have zero combat experience but have heard this rumor from soldiers since my dad served in the Gulf. Whether true or not it's the wrong thing to do and I don't know any soldiers that would deliberately break squad roles and make themselves a potential liability to the unit.
Ideally situations like that shouldn't arise, but the battlefield can bring a lot of unconventional situations.
Use more actual gameplay the one we see are rely old end 60% of the gameplay are from the Midel Est Escalation mod
The game is really outstanding and well made for sure. The community? Meh.
The crowd that plays it is 60-70% a bunch of 14-24 year olds looking for war-porn for the most part.

Game is pretty horrible right now; you can't tell from the footages but the performance is really bad no matter what gpu you have(bad optimization, cpu bottleneck 99% of time).
The gameplay is also shallow compared to the original. Models/details are all over the place(bad).

Basic SQUAD is absolutely boring. Karmakut's Dynamic Direction is by far so much better. Less typical than run here and capture this point, now run here and do that too. It's all repetitive and boring after the first 2500 hours.
