    Hey Thomas - thanks for the video. I had the same Nomax bag and Reckless R80. Recent trip to Iceland let me learnt that Nomax was nowhere near waterproof as rechless R80. Infact - R80 maintained complete 100% dry throughout the 14 days journey but Nomax tank bag was damped with rain cover. I now tends to let Nomax carry the heavy water bladder and other item which is less sensitive to humidity. Wish Nomax can improve its waterproofness in the next generation given its unrivelled flexibility and durability.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah, the Nomax is no way waterproof and is not ment to be it either. Here in Norway, if you ride many days in rain, the humidity stays underneath the rain cover and will get your equipment damp. So I need to open it up inside my tent after every trip or take it inside to dry between trips. If it just sits on the bike in continues rain, the equipment will get damp or wet. I really hope there will be a waterproof version of this as well. That would be my absolute top pick. Cheers

    This was useful. I packed my drone today and it took up one full leg of my luggage; the DJI case is bulky for the bike. I have a Nomax Gen 1 that I rarely use as I don't like big tank bags, but with this video, I will use it like you have, except strap it to the rear seat area. Cheers-

      Hello mate, glad you found it useful 🙌🏻 I had the 1 or 2 gen nomad myself for many years, before I changed it this year to the new Nomax. The only thing that is missing is the option to expand the bottom section of the tank bag. Yes it is a bit big for many, but for there is not much of an option. I might find a way to store some of my gear on the rear as well in the upcoming years, Need to look into this in the winter. 🙏🏻

    Sweeeet! You've managed to cram a lot in a smart way into that tank bag. When I, finally, get to the point where I have a set of wheels to get me out there, I think I will still need to use a full on camera bag strapped to my back, or some extremely well padded panniers. Correct me if I'm wrong, but a 400mm lens will protrude "slightly" if you try to cram it into that tank bag, and, at least, you should NOT try to put it in sideways. 😜

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Haha, a 400 lense would not go inside this, there is a reason why I choose the FE4/24-105 lense from Sony 😂 But I would like to have a good zoom lense with me as well on some trips. 🙈

    It's always interesting seeing other people's setup. Love your work. I'm about to leave GoPro for DJI Action 4 for several reasons... One is the Bluetooth radio mic, I'm going to experiment with dji mic mounted near exhaust with deadcat on it to see if I get much better bike audio. I tried carrying DSLR but I found I wasn't using it enough to justify it. I love my Osmo Pocket.. Great image quality and sits in my pocket. I just bought the Air 3, so I'm riding with 2 drones now - Air3 and Skydio 2+. Keep up the great videos.

      @tshansen  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hello Brent.
      Thank you so much for the nice comment, as you probably know, I'm a huge fan of your work as well. I find some of the same issues with the Action 4 as with the Action 3... the way DJI handles the Rocksteady is just terrible with how much shutter-speed you need for it to work and how it introduce micro jitter when it does not work. Not the same "soft dampening" as gopro has. In a couple of days we will get a look at what they have packed into the Osmo Action 5 pro, and I have really high hopes for that one. I have considered the Osmo Pocket myself, but I need to try it out more before I can decide. I might upgrade to the Air 3s if they add 1" sensor and proper D-Log colour profile. Keep rocking you as well mate. Cheers ☕️

    • @brentbat
      @brentbat 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@tshansen Thx for your reply. Very interesting. I haven't noticed a significant difference between the Action 4 and my Gopro 11, but on my next ride I will be replacing the GoPro with the Action, so I'll definitely see if I'm experiencing stabilization issues. One of the other reasons besides the audio link to the wireless mic is the fact that I am using DJI colour profiles on the drone and on the Osmo, so colour matching becomes easier. I'm going to be checking out the Action 5 closely.
      I agree with you that if they upgraded the sensor size on the Air3, that would be compelling... I know DJI have a launch tomorrow, but I'm guessing that will be the new Mavic launch... but who knows. I found your comment about wanting a "proper D-Log profile" interesting. I haven't found any issues with the D-Log M profile on the Air3.. are you looking for greater dynamic range compression? What are you not getting with D-Log M?

    Thanks for another great video. Now, speaking of the Nomax bag, I had high expectations and it actually exceeded them! It's truly impressive how it helps with organizing your gear and how it can fit so much stuff... I was also preparing a video about the bag and in the end my setup is a little different but similar anyway. I found the tip about storing files without taking a computer and SSD interesting. The only thing I would like is for it to be waterproof without needing a cover... but I understand that this might be difficult to achieve. Thanks!

      Thank you mate, glad you liked it, and it is always nice to see how other go about doing these kind of stuff. So much to learn. I was also not to happy with the nomad and nomax not being waterproof, but it has honestly not been a problem. The rain cover works so well it has never been an issue. If I would go for a really long trip, I would probably bring a 2TB SSD and a memory card reader I could fill up as I go.

    Very thorough report TS. Everything has a place. Like the camera cage for add ons. You might want to run some power inside the tank bag for charging as you ride. Do you carry your laptop with you when you ride. If you don't edit on the road really not necessary. All good.

    Thanks for the video. Does the 60W charger work fine in charging 3 drone batteries at the same time without too much draw on your bike battery (or overheat) as you ride along? I’m looking at this method for my bike and want to make sure I get it right. Unfortunately, unlike your T7, there’s not much room for a tank bag on my PR7 so I’m looking for the best way forward for carrying stuff.

    • @tshansen
      @tshansen  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes, it works great for drone batteries... But yes it draws power from your bike, so you don't want to stand with the engine off with the charger in, only when riding. So if you remember to plug it out every time you cut the engine there is no problem. You could probably find a way to rig it in a backpack or similar with extra long cord

    • @tshansen

      Haha, that is a good question and yes I both use SSD and a NAS. So I transfer all my footage from the trip or around a project into file system on a SSD that is connected to my computer. When that is done, I take backup to my NAS, and when I start editing the project, I transfer the files I need over to own project folder on my main computer (internal SSD) And then I drag all clips into a timeline and start sorting them, that is a bit time consuming, and I do rough cuts in this process as well
