    I bought the new Navara 2.5DDti LE after selling my 2020 Ford Ranger 2.0 SiT XLT 4x4 Auto. The one year old Ford broke and left me stranded 3 times and only went into limp mode once. The other 3 times it died and would not start. Diesel pump and electrical issues. I am very happy with the Navara. Great gearbox, good fuel consumption, great off road, but break over angle could be better. 8km/l while towing 700kg and 600kg in the bin @ 120-125km/h. Normal driving 10.5 to 11 km/liter. Would have bought a Hilux for the reliability, but the ride is too hard, while the load it can carry is the least (@ 840kg). And prices in SA are insane for the higher spec Hilux. But I'm very happy with the Navara @ 10 000km so far.

      Wow nice. How do the two compare in terms of performance and overtaking?

    • @lohanbester1591
      @lohanbester1591 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@thandomthembu4913 I liked the ''Sport" mode of the Ranger. The LE model of the Navara doesn't have that. Not sure about the PRO2/4X models. The Navara does have 140kw and 450N.m versus the 130kw and 430N.m of the Ranger Single Turbo. So the Navara should be better. In real life I think the Ranger is better in Sport mode, but not in normal mode. Low down in normal mode the Ranger is awful with lots of lag, made worse if you fit bigger tyres on the 10spd auto. The 7spd auto of the Navara can be modulated with the pedal to drop 1 or 2 gears. If you step on the gas too much, it would drop 2 gears and you would sometimes be out of the power /torque band and loose momentum. Overall I still prefer the Navara, mostly for reliability. ( + 6 year 150 000km garuantee ).

    Honestly speaking, there is no other vehicle that is more versatile versatile a bakkie. Handles our SA roads. It's safe. Can load things in the back, take the family around. Go on holidays. Can go into remote places. It's comfortable.

      I agree 10,000% - bakkies are not perfect for any one function (not even off-roading with the modern lifestyle pickup's) but they can do everything, reasonably well.

    For me I love a bakkie, because they are versatile, I can carry my family in it yet still carry loads in the back, even do towing if I have to further more still put luggage in the back when I'm travelling provided I have a tonneu cover and has more space in the back than a four door sedan boot, so yeah for me bakkies are the perfect vehicle

    My lovely 2.3 LE sadly had to go due to financial reasons. 😭😭Currently I'm driving an associate's older A4 and SLK and do not miss the bulkiness of the Navara, but miss the ride quality. This facelift is better in all aspects - my opinion after an extended test drive. Excellent vehicles!!! BTW, this Tiffany song from my early Varsity days just made my day😎

    Hi Juliet! For me, double Cab Bakkies are not practical for family trips. The back seats are so upward that for a long trip which our roads permit makes it extremely uncomfortable for back passengers. Also, most of the time it is driven with an empty load. For the price of a family car, a small SUV or even big one, one will carry passengers in a much better comfortable space as per budget afforded. Thank you for great reviews. It is always a pleasure watching your reviews.

  • @phardlong9799
    @phardlong9799 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    It's an all around vehicle. You can carry heavy stuff with it. You can do heavy towing with it. You can have passengers in it. It can go fast on the highway, and you can go off roading with it. All in one vehicle.

    These bakkies use old technology yet they cost almost R800 000. Oversized plastic wheel arches, stickers, black grilles and fancy names and numbers are not going to fool me. They should cost about R500 000 for the top spec.

    • @deanwilliams2374
      @deanwilliams2374 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@TheBoobieBandit1 the current Navara we get is using the same 2.5 from the D40 (with some upgrades) . Only the European market is using the 2.3 twin turbo.
      There were too many issues with the 2.3 (possibly diesel quality related) so it was dropped.

    Great Video. I have one of these bakkie. The NP300 N Connect model. It’s 2017 series 2, 2.3L Dual Turbo jobbie. I love it.
    It handles Irish rough roads well. If one doesn’t put in the boot the fuel consumption is good. In the winter, it’s best to let it warm up well before one drives it. Diesels don’t like short trips. As the DPF filter can choke up with the sooty spooge. Speeds over 50mph will clear it. It does warn if the dpf needs a clean. Another way is to use every second shot tankful with some Redex fuel treatment. It keeps the dpf clleaner.
    It’s a real pain these DPFs. But the new Emissions laws broight in all this stuff.
    The 2nd generation Navs are Euro 6 compliant on emissions. And burning the Ad Blue. The pig piss fuel. Can you believe it. We’re burning pig piss now in engines. It all works fine though.
