Saying "This is still a rather basic setup" 30 minutes into an hour long video that has more effects than I use in a normal project shows the amount of knowledge you have lol.
Randomisation with arpeggiators and velocity is rather basic, the main premise of racks like these is just a lot of duplication, chain selection and mapping
I love these videos so much because if you are used to VR just being a genius you start to notice that he just genuinely enjoys talking about nerdy shit like this

Ableton definitely needs to pay attention to Virtual Riot because it uses all the functionality of the program 100%. He would make a great demo track of Ableton Live for the next version.
This would be a dream. Analyzing that set would be way more informative than 1000 yt tutorials lol

I agree. I would like to add that in our business, practice is the best teacher. This is probably why Virtual Riot makes music, samples and training videos so well. ;)

As someone who has struggled with writing chord progs/melodies automating MIDI parameter is such a god send. While online generators are great I 100% agree programming your own provide infinite flexibility. The only downside is the amount of time it takes to build these types of generators, but I guess you can't have you're cake and it it too :b

This is cool. You can also add MIDI note length as well as instead of rendering it to wav, render it to MIDI notes instead. Then just drop in any sound you wish

little addition from my side and in case you are not aware:
if you want to use the midi for another instrument instead of exporting a audio loop, you can actually capture the midi on a empty midi channel and save the midi information. so you can customize the note lenght or pitch and velocity even further to your taste or apply midi clip automation to it and use a completely different instrument.
btw additionally you can change the scale and hit fit to scale and hear what happens.

I need to join this Patreon. I will soon enough. I have some other stuff on my plate to fix. I did some stuff with your boy Modestep tho. That riddim rack was amazing for generating patterns for basses and hi hats: unfortunately I did nothing and for some reason it broke. I might have to re-build it hahah
You could also use the Arp with Rando, scale aware , 7 steps +1 sd and play with retriever amounts to limit the range. You could then add a Pitch device and randomize the octave. No need for 8 chains I think.
How to make sure though that the Arp on Random plays the notes in the same random order every time though, I think this rack with 8 (or 16) chains method is the only way to “store” and recall randomized patterns.

Haha I haven’t heard that one before but I love that phrase. The reward here is that if you’ve sharpened it good enough (which does take some time) you’ll be able to cut a lot of trees in that one hour.

0:36 there’s actually one more thing! one of the synth loops that came from the bridge of “The Darkest Night” is categorized as being 140 bpm, but the thing is it speeds up as it goes on just like it does in the song, so the loop doesn’t actually line up with the grid! i personally find it super fascinating especially because there is a variation of this specific loop under the 150 bpm category which lines up perfectly to the grid! so that’s a tiny little thing i noticed while browsing through the samples, it absolutely doesn’t matter though you still did an amazing job! love ur stuff man!!

Dude these racks are great but I think you’re at the point where you ought to give max for live a shot. Some of the things you’re doing could be better done in that environment imo! Not to mention the CPU you’ll save that way. Just a thought :)

@@Audiomuscle For real! I'm actually super impressed when I see someone commit to making these racks in Live. But i'm also aware of how limited they can be when working on such a big idea. Would just love to see how far he can take his ideas without the limitations posed by racks.
