BudgetBugout I was thinking a similar thought the other day. Such a fine channel this is, I love the background and Jim's vocals, great cadence with speech and great descriptions and background information. I recently became interested in the custom knife scene, Brian Tighe lives about 150 miles from me right now here in Canada, and I think something custom from him will be my first custom blade. The most I've spent is 3 to 400, ZT 300s, some Microtech stuff, some higher end Spyder, but nothing truly custom. Having recently played with a Direware knife, I'm hooked. So hooked.
SerHaHa Thanks! And you're going to love having a Tighe as your first custom, he was my first as well! I now own 3 and plan to own more. Not only is he an extremely talented guy, but one of the nicest gentlemen you'll ever meet.
Jim Skelton No problem! Hey I had a question and I think you're the best person to answer it. You know a lot about custom knife manufacturers; do you know of any of those that reside in the Florida panhandle? I've started this new thing where I plan out visits to knife related locations that are around where I'm already headed. In this case I'll be in the FL panhandle for about a month. Let me know if you know of any. I'll be sure to let em know who sent me if you can think of someone!
I was able to get on his books about a year ago. Thank you for setting a precedent with the bearings. I was under the impression that he was was already using bearings.
Jim Skelton I appreciate that. This truly is an incredible knife. I just prefer the more basic streamlined look for an EDC blade. For a collector this is a great piece because it looks completely different from anything else.
Hey Jim I feel I should just let you know that you are, in my opinion, the premier knife vlogger on TH-cam.There is quite literally no one else on TH-cam I can listen to for 20 minutes about a knife (or anything really) without them doing my head in! And the funny thing is that the knives you generally seem to review aren't even the type of blades that I like but you still have me tuning in whenever you have a new video up. Keep up the good work it is much appreciated!! Best wishes to you & your family Allister
Yep, ITS AMAZING! Great work, AS ALWAYS Jim. I never stop lsughing each time I see another layer added to your reach...I cant help but to think that, YOU ARE FOLLOWING ME! IM SURE, one day, youll be near either a guest spot, or my travels and we'll do a little riding, a little tattooing on you and then Ill take you shooting! Be safe and keep up the GREAT work you do. Always presenting great PEOPLE STUFF! BE SAFE!
TheRealHappyDonut That's not all you're fondling. And like I said, as amazing as this knife is, it isn't a night and day difference, CKF really did a bang-up job on those midtechs!
Absolute awesomeness in a knife Jim, Looks like you had to pull some strings to get it, but I am sure it was worth every string you had to pull. lol Good Video!
Erik Olsby You'd think so... and so did I at first. Turns out, all I had to do was ask! LOL! When we first began communicating (when I was preparing to do my Decepticon 1 video) I said something like "I know you're not taking orders, but if you ever do, I want one" and he said "Sure, I'm happy to take orders". You coulda knocked me over with a feather.
wow, that is crazy and makes me wish I would have done the same. I thought about tracking him down when his stuff first started popping up, but I figured that he was probably an untouchable and would never get anything from him. Guess it goes to show, you never know till you ask! thanks for the reply Jim!
That is absolutely beautiful jim! Like you said just the perfect size. Also amazing how they got the midtechs so perfect. I don't understand though why they always seem to make the midtechs so much bigger than the custom just like the zt0600 .that knife would have been perfect if it was the same size or close to rj martins custom. I loved my zt600 but it was just too damn big.
Frank F I don't know if this is the case so much with knives, but generally speaking in manufacturing terms... the smaller something is, the more expensive it is to manufacture.
Jim do you think it would have made the knife that much better if the decpticon logo on the knife or even on the pivot? Maybe not better is a good word maybe cooler? Idk
Jim Skelton , If you have any issues with the pivot, machining a little tool for the proprietary pivot screw would be quite simple and just about any machine shop could do that for you.
Here is a solution to that pivot issue if it comes loose.. why not take a screw driver an grind down the end so it is thin enough to fit the line in the pivot.. Love the knife.
I watch this channel so that I can live vicariously through you...

Not really my style but I fully respect the innovation and hard work that went into this knife. Badass score!
Sean Carey Man, I wish everyone had your diplomatic nature! Most people just spout off rude shit if they don't like something. Thanks.

My favorite of the Decepticons thus far. Really hope that Custom Knife Factory produces one in this size!
It's not for me, but I am very happy for you. I know how passionate you are about Konygin knives.
Bob Jordan Thanks Bob!
Good lord that's a sexy knife. And here I am fondling my Decepticon Midtech.
TheRealHappyDonut That's not all you're fondling. And like I said, as amazing as this knife is, it isn't a night and day difference, CKF really did a bang-up job on those midtechs!
As soon as I saw the timascus clip...oh my god its beautiful
Beautiful knife Jim!
Thank you for video, Jim!
Not gonna lie; things started moving in my pants during this video. Jim you lucky lucky bastard!

I love these decepticon knives
Jim are you on the books to get a Rask from JohnGrimsmo? Can we look for a review in the future? I hope he does a steel on steel lock up this time.
this is super beautiful.
hey jim... great feature... sent you a note on FB re. your new endeaver.

@jimskeltontv got you , makes sense comes down to profit and no matter what it will probably sell. I guess the variety is a good thing.
Jim do you think it would have made the knife that much better if the decpticon logo on the knife or even on the pivot? Maybe not better is a good word maybe cooler? Idk
are all the knives assisted open knives?
Jim Skelton , If you have any issues with the pivot, machining a little tool for the proprietary pivot screw would be quite simple and just about any machine shop could do that for you.
damn. didn't think the midtech decepticon 1 could get too much nicer. but shit this custom is badass. how would someone go about getting on his books?
joe schal Just message him on Facebook
looking at custom blades where would be a good start
Honestly I've been saying that the price for this knifes are crazy and stupid but this is art, nuff of me.
Hey Jim! How are you still liking the AK a year later?
Still a favorite. I carry it often!
Glad to hear! I saw someone on IG selling one for 2.5k. I am thinking about it, considering people pay close to that for Custom Divisions.
Here is a solution to that pivot issue if it comes loose.. why not take a screw driver an grind down the end so it is thin enough to fit the line in the pivot.. Love the knife.
Very beautiful knife, though I don't like the appearance of the blade steel grain. That said, I'd obviously love to own one.
Holy. Cow.
ooooo very nice
GOHRJUS...my best Russian spelling LOL!
Bad ass!
