I have always loved Bill Wyman's bass playing and have always thought that it was a lot more complicated than most Bass players were willing to give him credit for. This is really great and I am glad to see that other people appreciate what he did as much as I do. Thanks, Mike Shapiro
I have always thought Bill Wyman was underrated as a bass player. Sometimes his lines get buried in the mix and when you actually sit down and figure them out they often quite complicated. I recently saw the Stones with Daryl Jones on bass. Daryl has his own style, but I still think Bill Wyman is king.
Really enjoy your song selections & your talent Rob. Route 66 is one of my favorite early Stones songs. "England's Newest Hit Makers" which I proudly own an original 1964 mono copy is great with bass lines. "You Better Move On" from '65's December's Children also has a wonderful moody bass.
Hi Adam thanks for your comment, I shall have a look at those two songs. And on the bass side of things, I've decided to get a Fender Mustang bass - still technically a Wyman bass haha! The reason being I'm a fairly big person and the already small signature bass may look a bit too small on me. Still looking forward to the Fender!

Two requests when you've got the time, 'You Can't Catch Me' - some excellent bass work by Bill and 'Little Red Rooster'. Keep it up and I hope you get your longed for Wyman bass soon.

Haha very true, I find Fender mustangs too heavy and chunky to plauy but I do like the sound of them. Did you hear off Charlie after all? If not it'll be worth trying him again.
The Foxy grandpa Strange you should say that, we were clearing out my school studio today and we were throwing a load of old broken violins and cellos etc. in the bin, and I decided to keep one of the bows to do just that haha!
