I do them both for about 2 months now (and others as well) I don't use a foam roll but a towel instead and sometimes I use nothing. After I'm finishing I always put my legs up against the wall at an almost 90 degree angle. I put them up there for about 10 to 15 min. I couldn't even stretch my left leg due to a herniated disc and sciatica. I don't push through the pain but I keep doing all of the exercises every day . 2 weeks ago I started working again and I'm feeling so much better. I can't walk for a long period of time without limping a bit but I have significantly made progress in my painful sciatica journey.
