There is a reason why so many people remember 70/80’s sitcom’s 40+ years later and they are still being watched today and that is because of the great acting and writing. People remember the shows because of nostalgia. They long for a simpler time, a time without responsibilities and regrets. It has nothing to do with the quality of the shows or the performances. Look at Scott. People like him because he is obviously clinically depressed but functional, like many of his viewers. He is a lost soul, trying desperately to find meaning in life by reverting to past experiences that made him feel happy and secure. He is an escapist, just like you and me. Instead of moving on and being productive we are wasting time thinking about the past. It is sad.

First, I do agree with you that we do remember much of our past with nostalgia and we use the internet for escapism. However, I think most of us realize this & do so in moderation. As someone who was born in the 1970’s & grew up in the 80’s. I can assure you that these decades were not a simpler time for me and I have plenty of regrets. Honestly, I am just surprised I survived! Second, you, nor I, have the right to medically diagnose someone. Saying we think someone has a mental illness is unacceptable and unhelpful. I have personally met Scott & I do not feel your assessment of him is an accurate one at all. I find him to be a deeply caring person who is working towards a goal to have a channel for others to enjoy. If you do not enjoy his content, simply do not watch. His content has millions of views & he has 170,000+ subscribers and growing, so I think he will be okay. Scott has went out of his way to create a sense of community amongst his views and I deeply appreciate his efforts and time. A few years before she passed, I remember being pleasantly surprised to see her make a guest appearance on the CBS soap The Young and the Restless in a few recurring episodes portraying a nun that rescues and aids “Victor Newman” back into good health after a bar brawl - thank you for this thoughtful video about Bonnie Franklin - she portrayed a great tv mom and role model and is greatly missed 📺😔 - May she Rest in Peace 🙏🏼
It’s so sad that we are losing so much of our 70s talent. I watched the show during its original run. I was in my teens in the 70s, graduated high school in 75. It has been really hard for me to lose all of those people who entertained us. I know when Alan Alda dies I will be forever heartbroken.
I KNOW, right??? It reminds me so much of my own mortality too. I recall my own Mother having feelings of sadness when celebs from her era were passing, now it's us. And there IS a sadness to it

OMG Scott, One Day at a Time was one of my very favorite shows! I turned 13 in 1971 so that was my TV era for sure. Bonnie Franklin looked like my old boyfriend's mother, everyone used to tell her that .... and what's even funnier is that my old boyfriend's sister, who was my age, looked EXACTLY like Marcia Brady. She got so tired of people teasing her that she stopped parting her hair down the side and changed it to a part down the middle and the next season Marcia Brady parted her hair down the middle too 😂 A show you mentioned that I loved equal to One Day at a Time was Welcome Back Kotter!! That was the best. My 7th grade teacher Mr. Gardner acted just like him. I loved that man. He was moving once and invited all of our home room class to go to his house and help him and his wife pack and load the moving van. Almost all of us showed up too and then he had a pizza party for us when we were done haha. He also showed us how to make chess boards and then brought us all game pieces and taught us how to play. Gosh I miss those days so much!! Great times, great memories. I'm getting old because now it makes me cry 😪I'll tell you what though, the 70's had great television and anyone who doesn't go watch reruns of some of these old shows is missing out on a lot of laughs. After school mom was spot on. We had a few of them back in the day. Unfortunately most have passed RIP to ALL of them and RIP Mrs Franklin. They unfortunately don’t make shows that family oriented anymore. Probably a good reason for things that happen today. You put out positive and family,you get people positive and loving families. Those of us that remember take it “One Day At A Time” and try to remember the “Good Times” and “Happy Days” of our youth. I watched many reruns from the 70s because I was too young to remember when they came out. At that age, the only shows I watched was Sesame Street, Mr. Roger's Neighborhood, and Captain Kangaroo. Very good video as always.
Loved watching this show as a kid growing up. I really don't remember all the heavy social issues they tackled, I just loved watching the show. They had an amazing cast that really worked. Different, but similar to the Partridge Family with another great cast, another favourite.

Being from the UK I've never heard of most these shows but can understand what they mean to Americans and Canadians, i to grew up 8n th3 80s/90s on our shows like Desmonds,the good life,keeping up appearances, allo aloo ,shows have a special place in our heart's and true were now spoiled for choice and being able to binge watch instead of waiting every week.

My aunt finally is out of the nursing home. A nurse practitioner came to see her. Her name is MacKenzie Phillips. Yep, we had a good time talking to her.
I had the honor of meeting Bonnie Franklin in an office setting when I worked for a county supervisor… she was there to see another county supervisor to do a collab with LA County as many celebrities do for charity. I passed her in the hall of the ladies room, and she gave me the biggest smile and said hello. I was starstruck & excited because I watched “one day at a time” religiously as a kid, and I loved her but I was too embarrassed to ask her for an autograph… so I asked my best friend who worked next door in the office where Bonnie Franklin was visiting to ask her for an autograph for me….my friend said she was so gracious & thought it sweet that I couldn’t ask her myself 😂🙈 it makes me sad to think that she’s already passed away. She was such a talented performer… God bless you, Bonnie… PS. The “7 Always” resonates with me because I’m the daughter of a gambler. So I’d like to think that the number 7 was a lucky number for Bonnie…🍀 thanks again Scott for this wonderful video 🙏🏼

I am a relative of Bonnie Franklin. Back in the days of Telegrams her father would sent messages to her mother and he would sign off with 7 words "I love you with all my heart." However, telegrams charged by the word so he shortened it to "7 Always" as shown on the grave. to this day it is not uncommon amongst family to sign off that way. Hope this answered your question.
Marvin Minoff died 11 days after my father on September 30,2009, he died of esophageal and kidney cancer. Bonnie was such a great actress too, no one could have played the mother better than her. I miss that era of tv.
Scott we seem to be around the same age late 40s, early 50s by the music and TV shows you enjoy are the same ones I grew up on...the classic sitcom has been replaced by reality tv...sadly

I grew up with the same shows you did - 52 years old now and fondly remember Barnaby Jones, Fantasy Island, Three's Company, WBK, WKRP, Good Times, Starsky & Hutch, Dallas, etc... Also, as you said we watched what came on 1x per week in that particular time slot. Around age 10 we moved to West Germany for 4 years. We only had one channel then - AAFES (American Armed Forces) and so it was one channel, one show per half hour in afternoon or whole hour at night, Sat AM cartoons.. color bars to color bars. Miss those days. Keep up the great work -- LOVE your channel!
Great video Scott. I met McKenzie Phillips at the Sands Hotel in Vegas just after she was fired from the show for drug use. She was performing with the new Mamas and Papas alongside her Dad, Denny and Spanky. Thanks for the memory.

Thanks so much for this upload, Scott. Bonnie Franklin was so beautiful! and in my opinion, terribly underrated and probably hopelessly typecast in her role as "Ann Romano." I think her first love was probably the stage and apparently that's where Norman Lear noticed her, on Broadway. I'm not particularly fond of Lear, he made millions and millions and wasn't too eager to share with his "roster of stars," example: Carroll O'Connor. I think Franklin's mother not only outlived her, but made it to something like 101 yrs and is interred next to her daughter.
I've gotten attached to this channel. I think you do a great job Scott. A lot of informative content. Very tasteful and respectful always. Love all the episodes. Bonnie was great. Didn't even know she passed. May she rest in peace.

Thank you, Scott! Oh my gosh I hadn't thought about "One Day At A Time" in a long time. A great reminder of my childhood! In the 1970's we only got to see it once a week. I lived with my Dad growing up, and didn't have a great relationship with my Mom, so Bonnie Franklin's character (Anne Ramano) was the kind of Mom I wanted! The struggles on the show were real life problems you could relate to. Really great show. I'm going to see if I can find it on the "Fire Stick". I'm sure it's there, That's how I watch Little House On The Prarie. Especially when I get sick of today's reruns and the news, which is often! Do you know one TV in our home is permanently set on MSNBC. YEP! Not lying. Crazy huh?

Well I'm a little older, was very young in the 70s so I got to watch these shows as they came out, not as reruns. Like The Brady Bunch, I watched every episode for the first time every Friday night. Bonnie was also an acclaimed Broadway actress. She was very versatile actress. Interesting home and so understated for her money and fame. Great lady. And I believe Mt Sinai is a Jewish cemetery too I believe. Your coverage of the gravestone was very touching ..I've seen the mural before and it's beautiful!

I am a relative of Bonnie Franklin. Back in the days of Telegrams her father would sent messages to her mother and he would sign off with 7 words "I love you with all my heart." However, telegrams charged by the word so he shortened it to "7 Always" as shown on the grave. to this day it is not uncommon amongst family to sign off that way. Hope this answered your question.

Marvin Minoff died 11 days after my father on September 30,2009, he died of esophageal and kidney cancer. Bonnie was such a great actress too, no one could have played the mother better than her. I miss that era of tv.
The 70's and 80's had all the best sitcoms.
Scott we seem to be around the same age late 40s, early 50s by the music and TV shows you enjoy are the same ones I grew up on...the classic sitcom has been replaced by reality tv...sadly

I grew up with the same shows you did - 52 years old now and fondly remember Barnaby Jones, Fantasy Island, Three's Company, WBK, WKRP, Good Times, Starsky & Hutch, Dallas, etc... Also, as you said we watched what came on 1x per week in that particular time slot. Around age 10 we moved to West Germany for 4 years. We only had one channel then - AAFES (American Armed Forces) and so it was one channel, one show per half hour in afternoon or whole hour at night, Sat AM cartoons.. color bars to color bars. Miss those days. Keep up the great work -- LOVE your channel!

Great video Scott. I met McKenzie Phillips at the Sands Hotel in Vegas just after she was fired from the show for drug use. She was performing with the new Mamas and Papas alongside her Dad, Denny and Spanky. Thanks for the memory.

My mom passed away in January of 2013 at the age of 69 from pancratic cancer, just like Bonnie Franklin. R.I.P. to my mom and Bonnie.

Thanks so much for this upload, Scott. Bonnie Franklin was so beautiful! and in my opinion, terribly underrated and probably hopelessly typecast in her role as "Ann Romano." I think her first love was probably the stage and apparently that's where Norman Lear noticed her, on Broadway. I'm not particularly fond of Lear, he made millions and millions and wasn't too eager to share with his "roster of stars," example: Carroll O'Connor. I think Franklin's mother not only outlived her, but made it to something like 101 yrs and is interred next to her daughter.
I've gotten attached to this channel. I think you do a great job Scott. A lot of informative content. Very tasteful and respectful always. Love all the episodes. Bonnie was great. Didn't even know she passed. May she rest in peace.

Thank you, Scott! Oh my gosh I hadn't thought about "One Day At A Time" in a long time. A great reminder of my childhood! In the 1970's we only got to see it once a week. I lived with my Dad growing up, and didn't have a great relationship with my Mom, so Bonnie Franklin's character (Anne Ramano) was the kind of Mom I wanted! The struggles on the show were real life problems you could relate to. Really great show. I'm going to see if I can find it on the "Fire Stick". I'm sure it's there, That's how I watch Little House On The Prarie. Especially when I get sick of today's reruns and the news, which is often! Do you know one TV in our home is permanently set on MSNBC. YEP! Not lying. Crazy huh?
We had about five basic channels to choose from. Three actual prime time. Usually had to watch whatever my dad had on.
I loved the after school talk shows like Merv griffin, Mike Douglas.

I can show you where they lived and where their business establishments were located, where their vineyards grew, and of course where they're buried and old photos of their members. I am a member of the Los Angeles Historical Society and I grew up with the descendants of the people I speak of.
"One Day at a Time" was a Norman Lear thing. It tackled a lot of social issues just like "All in the Family" would tackle them.
Well I'm a little older, was very young in the 70s so I got to watch these shows as they came out, not as reruns. Like The Brady Bunch, I watched every episode for the first time every Friday night. These were the best shows!! I sound like an old person but I don't think they make shows like they used to ☹️ I watch one day at a time also. Did you ever do a video on Farrah fawcett?

near 11:20 It sure did; it was an episode of that very show where Ms. Romano told her girls that the newspaper has so many articles of negative stories, and one would have to get all the way to the back of the paper to spot a tiny piece of a feel-good story. paraphrased.
I started being more aware when I read the paper... and sure nuff, it was true. I slowed down with perusing them, after that.
