@Fr. Simon Rundell I joined bitchute very early - before it became a bastion of the anti-antifa - mainly as I thought TH-cam would delete this post! Positive and beautiful pieces like this Kae Tempest piece will hopefully redress some kind of balance for the occasional viewer!
come on @suizadeamerica! No need to be antagonistic. I'm also in awe of any actor who can memorise the words and nuances of a play - but to write the material, make it scan to music and perform so articulately and passionately - doesn't it make you gasp a little at her incredible ability. The internet is full of people trying to one-up on others, we need less of that and more togetherness - dwelling on our commonalities and focusing on making the future as we'd like it to be.. Surely that's the message that Kate is trying to impart - and celebrating that is surely why we've all found ourselves here? Peace.
"The fox freezes on the alley wall and stands still sniffing bare branches sway in the front garden the lion mouth door knocker flaps in the breeze streetlights glint on the beware of the dog sign beer cans and crisp packets dance with the leaves" Its a real testament to Kae's talent that such an utterly mundane normal every day scene gives me goose bumps
the flow of a flower, the jab of mike Jagger...there is a star shining after the storm flooding on my ears. that's what we call a real permomance, Kae! Poetry will never be alone as soon you take the microphone!
I heard Kate's "Lionmouth Door" track being played on Double J (Australian Iconic Radio Station) last night & I thought it was OK. Today I decided to You Tube her name to see if she has anything else worth listening too.............. Its now 7 hours later & I haven't moved from my couch! She is absolutely amazing. Her words, her stories, her poetry, her reality, her honesty, her passion, her outlooks, her correctness, her differences, her understanding, her beliefs, her observations EVERYTHING about her is what this planet and society needs so much more of. Real people, Real experiences, Real lives, No Fluff - Fuck I'm a simple bloke, I've never read or heard more than a handful of poems in my life & I thought they were all shit. That changed today when I listened too Let Them Eat Chaos. Holy Mutha Fkng God!! What a gift she has, I just listened to it from start to finish twice. I'm in love !! Come back to Australia soon. Thank you.
15 minutes in and...wow! this is so deep, it's the unvarnished truth of the world that we're living in, so self absorbed. We are all just stuck in the rat race when in reality we're going nowhere, our major concerns are so fickle and we wonder why the option of ending it all seems so popular and is the avenue of so many.
This is the absolute best thing I’ve ever heard. I’m so emotionally gripped that I can’t stand it, yet I love it all at the same time. Thank you, Kate Tempest, for writing and sharing this with us.
I got turned on to Kate through KEXP. quickly followed up with her NPR tiny Desk performance, then I see this. As soon as I realized that this is the live version of her new album... I had to support and purchased the album right away. Instantly one of my favourite artists.. will carry her music with me everywhere.
Spot on - me too - I filmed one performance - immediately pre-ordered the CD and then this was on the TV. Needs sharing as it's a powerful message from a powerful messenger. :)
Best education in 60 minutes I've ever had! This girl is a Messiah, I CAN NOT wait to catch her live.. Future sound of the British revolution, peace Kate, hope to have a chat with you one day x
Stumbled across this on bbc one sleepless night about 3/4 yrs ago and was literally amazed and couldn't take my eyes off the screen. Such talent, the delivery is out of this world the content truly relatable to.the majority of the uk,none of the bullshit you get from mainstream artists. One of less than a handful of artists I'd consider to be a true wordsmith. I am amazed she doesn't have a bigger following
Whoops could've been written about me in the 90's, I was Pete. I've been looking for alternatives to the American shit my 15 year old has been listening to, something that doesn't smack bitches an' hoes, rap about boots full of cash and high end cars. Stumbled on Kate tempest and some others over the months. He’s not taken to this or some of the other less misogynistic hip hop and rap I’ve sent his way. I’ve driven him in the van with his choices blaring, explaining that the things these dickheads rap about are materialistic, women hating bollocks. His choice to listen to follow his mates’ choices in music. Forcing him isn’t an option. The 12 year though, the 12 year old has embraced Kate Tempest with a venom and want’s to understand, some he knows from lived experience, some from stories from Mum and Dad, the rest he wants to devour. Little champ knows the words better than me now. I’m looking at the shots of the audience on this BBC 2 produced clip and can't help but see plenty of the people who have "Gentrified'" the places Tempest talks of, the same people who follow artists, hospitality and other low income workers into an area once it’s “cool” and price it out. I know you can't judge a book by it's cover and generalise on looks, these are my opinions and come only from my observations. But I bet my brothers’ remaining nut, that the people with lived experiences similar to the characters Kate writes about were not invited to that night. I’m sure she had a say about the guest list, but a BBC 2 invited audience is hardly likely to have any real perspective of these lives. Another real voice taken from their origins and tempered by the Cultural Snobs, the wine sipping, shawl covered voyeurs and pretenders. Lauded with awards, cleaned up and polished so they can present her in their circles and wring their hands about the terrible state of the poor and disaffected. Then go home and sip some more expensive wine in their gentrified, once upon a time squat. Once more, just an opinion.
The tempest is on. A song to hear again. A story to tell and tell. A poem to sing and embrace. Pleasure from watching them on stage. Inspiration fills my soul. My guilt has been reformed. The talent scares me even more. In Kate we hope, to try and wake up the world. To finally convince us that the revolution of love., is the only way to go. Thumbs up and carry on. We'll follow you till dawn. Till is day on every shore. Please Let us Eat Chaos in Bogotá soon.
Seeing her live in Bristol tomorrow night, and I absolutely cannot wait. Agreed - she is a pioneer of our time, a storyteller for generations, a writer of a contemporary mythology.
Fab - I know a few people going to the O2 tomorrow - I'm just recovering from a virus else I would have been there too - a friend rang earlier with a free ticket for me! Aargh! Doubt I'd have made many friends, so sadly refused ;) Enjoy!
Kate Tempest is the most talented and passionate artist I have ever seen. 'Pennies/Our Town' and 'Grubby' are particularly emotional for me. Love you Kate x
Saw her the other night at the Academy in Bristol. Very possibly the best gig I've ever been to. (And, just in case, in response to kelman, I have no idea how many gigs I've been to. A few thousand?) She is immense. It's an honour and a pleasure to be around and to see her develop her art.
Today was the first time experiencing Kate Tempest, watching the Maifeld Derby live stream. I tried to describe what I'd witnessed to my family, but could only sob. Hours later, I'm still watching everything I can find.
Its funny you mention that, because it is the exact same emotion that her performance evokes in me as well. It is the raw emotion that she communicates, in terms that only those who have lived it will understand and it gets me every time !!!
Keep watching & listening, wonderful... hope they are showing this in schools...saw her do this in Bristol to a completely rap audience....thank you for making this available
I was lucky enough to see her upstage Massive Attack with her 'practicing' this on the downs last year.. I second the hope about making it part of the curriculem!
Watched her in TV at Glastonbury and had to find our who it is. Kate Tempest - The most important artist of a generation. She says more in a verse then most artists say in a career.
Bill Froog and Stuart, proper! I second/third that, massively. What an incredible performance of Let Them Eat Chaos - an album which demands sooo many listens to hear and appreciate the full spectrum of what Kate is expressing through her characters and rhythm and sounds, whom many of us of course can relate with, and what a way and style to deliver it. She is a genius Wordsworth story-teller, with rhythm and soul that moves something in me that no other artists do (except radiohead), from the minutest detail that is usually missed, to the entire album/creation (message) as a whole, that Kate desperately (I imagine) wants to get across to anyone who's willing to give their time to properly listen. Sadly i see and hear folk take her lyrics way out of context.. It's like, she ain't preaching. She's clearly learning as she goes and expressing her perception of life around her, 'true to her name', often , and very cleverly, via these familiar and real, lovable, human characters whom we all know and can relate with, without putting ppl into boxes, or ourselves... Let Them Eat Chaos (along with what I've sat and really listened to; Everybody Down, and Sound of Rum's album, Balance, and that track, Balance. Amazing. So clever. The power of the ending of that SoR album - So Low, End Times, and finishing with such a hard hitting, in your face truth, banging tune; Prometheus - which I wish I could find online, the album version. End times is on You tube but it's not the same without sharing the album version of Prometheus and all that she is expressing, including that heavy af bass)... The power of Let Then Eat Chaos when listened to in full, and the last two tracks, or the bridge to pull the characters in her story/expression/incredible-vision-and-creation; Let Them Eat Chaos - Breaks, and Tunnel Vision, just need to be heard worldwide, a lot.... plus the new video for Europe is Lost is oofin proper truth bang wallop in yer shnoz... Thank You, Kate and crew. And thank You for uploading this video. High five!.. So surprised the BBC aired it.. as long as there is a copy of this, if it's ever taken down, it'll need putting back up, just so we can see the BBC in top corner at least, if not to enjoy the whole performance... and David J at the end. A proper lovely bloke. Wise, socially anxious like so many of us, but smooth af and warm and lovely. And does cool poetry too. I've heard him perform incredible stuff in a more relaxed and intimate. He da man. Got the skills to hopefully pay the bills. They sure deserve it for the creative messages these lot are trying to get across! :)
WHAT HAVE WE GOTTA DO TO WAKE UP ? This hits home harder each time I watch it, and at the time of this comment it couldn't be more relative. I personally think this is a true work of art, destined to become a future classic. Love and best wishes to everyone who reads this.
DAMN! I heard her doing this (Let them eat Chaos) on my local npr radio station(Greenville S.C.) on my way home from work tonight. I think I ran a red light or two! This is truly great... THANKS!!
Yes, Wilfred Owen and Thomas Hardy were hardly contemporary - I think this (or the 70's equivalent) would have been much more inspiring! I guess we had punk rock!
Saw this tour live in Norwich Monday just gone. Wonderful to see it at another venue, but to see live was epic. Seen her twice live and she is a must see!
Saw her at OnBlackheath festival. Had watched a few clips and thought she just sounded like an angry teenager and to be honest wasn't too interested at all, but when she started performing this live it was mesmerising, to hear this live for a full hour or so is pretty incredible. Liked it so much I'm sat here now listening again with earphones....
Thank you so much for this. Saw Kate at The Norwich Waterfront the other night and still feel shell-shocked. I can't find the words to explain the power of her performance and the feeling that someone else feels like you do.
I remember seeing stuff about this amazing woman years ago, RIGHT when she was starting to make waves... I was blown away. I’m so beyond glad she is blowing up and more people are experiencing her art.
Google Translate - better than nothing :) Thx. "Kate Tempest is on track to become a shouting phenomenon, her album has sneaked on numerous lists as one of the highlights of 2016. At age 30 and with only two albums her voice is heard in all media . She raps on sound bases where boxes and drums predominate, but her verb is fast and deadly like bursts of bullets. His lyric is based on his high production of books of poems where he puts the present society upside down. Kate talks about the worries of the street: unemployment, rising prices, lack of hope, climate change ... social denunciation with a perfect metric, where words shine. Independent music news."
Saw her perform it live last night in Birmingham. Very powerful and moving. There's a few dates left on the tour, not all have sold out. If you can, see her live, you won't regret it.
Art in poetry ,hold your own was the first book I bought and big fan now.cheers for your freedom melt the chains of misery and make a smile to blind the hate.xx
This might be the “Hard Rain” of our times. I think, in the final part she is echoing Bob Dylans song from 1962, of which Dave van Ronk, Dylans mentor in the early village days, once said: it was the beginning of the 60th-revolt. Tempest listened to Dylan intensively, as she mentioned in several interviews, and refers to him in her lyrics regularly. Let’s hope that this has a similar effect on listeners (and that one day she will get the Nobel price for literature, too). By the way: Also check out her cover of “It’s Alright, Ma”: th-cam.com/video/L1ieALn0QGQ/w-d-xo.html When I discovered Kate Tempest about two month ago (here in Germany she is still not very well known), I decided to change my forthcoming PhD-project to do research about the relation of arts, politics and left-wing social movements today (…I once wrote a book about Dylan, too). Figures like her tend to come up in times of crisis. They reconnect us with ancient traditions of resistance and humanity. Her performance to me seems like a (spiritual, but not religious!) ritual act: If you are open enough, it might break up the circles of everyday life’s alienation and the common reproduction of power structures. It’s what we need the most today. And her strength is nothing but OUR strength. She is ‘just’ channeling it. Thanks a lot for posting this video (and the passionate way of commenting it). Stay hopeful and brave, everybody! …‘cause it’s 4:18… and, as Dylan once sang: “they say the darkest our is right before the dawn”
Saw Kate live at the Sheffield Plug on the 3rd of December doing this. absolutely amazing. you get in the story and feel the story. she managed to get the crowd not to use any mobile phones. I'd suggest if you want to see her live, don't clap in the quiet bits and dont bloody chat about the weather. some people have actually come to listen to her, not you
Yes - Amazing performance - I saw (and badly video-d most of) a trial performance (here th-cam.com/video/o2HVFQAdGHA/w-d-xo.html) recently in Bristol. Equally incredible.. Glad you enjoyed.
Now also available on the TH-cam alternative:

This poem should be on every school curriculum. Tempest is the Shakespeare of our times. Magnificent. (but how does she remember it all....)
alison homewood because she wrote it, and did rehearsals of the songs of her own album, duh

I don't know why she isn't more famous than she is
I am over 60 years old. This girl's work is profound ! She brings tears to my eyes, makes me feel :-)
Nothing short of incredible. What a privilege to see such wonderful talent. No ego, no attitude, no bullshit.
WORD !!
"Let Them Eat Chaos" is one of the 10 best albums of the decade in my opinion. Such a great atmosphere, such powerful words and so much energy!
"The fox freezes on the alley wall and stands still sniffing
bare branches sway in the front garden
the lion mouth door knocker flaps in the breeze
streetlights glint on the beware of the dog sign
beer cans and crisp packets dance with the leaves"
Its a real testament to Kae's talent that such an utterly mundane normal every day scene gives me goose bumps
the flow of a flower, the jab of mike Jagger...there is a star shining after the storm flooding on my ears. that's what we call a real permomance, Kae!

That changed today when I listened too Let Them Eat Chaos. Holy Mutha Fkng God!! What a gift she has, I just listened to it from start to finish twice.
I'm in love !! Come back to Australia soon.
Thank you.
Beautifully put - poetry in itself :)
I am NOT a Poet.
Among my favourite poets are Thomas Shadwell and Alfred Austin.
Now they really could write poetry.
Well, time to start reading more poetry I would say

It's how I discovered Kate Tempest listening to KEXP
my favorite song is Tunnel Vision
So humble and yet so savage as a performer!
Christophe Salden she's got quite an ego actually, savagely and totally deserved though
savage is a great description,,,, she nails it!
Best education in 60 minutes I've ever had! This girl is a Messiah, I CAN NOT wait to catch her live.. Future sound of the British revolution, peace Kate, hope to have a chat with you one day x

Kate Tempest, proving that the world's most brilliant minds are found in the most unexpected places. THANK YOU, Kate.
Seeing her live in Bristol tomorrow night, and I absolutely cannot wait. Agreed - she is a pioneer of our time, a storyteller for generations, a writer of a contemporary mythology.

Perfect performance. Kate is channeling the chaos on earth, transforming chaos though her voice, mouth and language. We will miss you here in Berlin.
Kate Tempest is the most talented and passionate artist I have ever seen. 'Pennies/Our Town' and 'Grubby' are particularly emotional for me. Love you Kate x
Kate Mirabel
How many have you seen, for interest?
Saw her the other night at the Academy in Bristol. Very possibly the best gig I've ever been to. (And, just in case, in response to kelman, I have no idea how many gigs I've been to. A few thousand?) She is immense. It's an honour and a pleasure to be around and to see her develop her art.
Fabulous! You're so lucky, I'm hoping she'll do a gig closer to Cornwall next year otherwise I'll definitely see her at a festival.
kelman727 I've seen hundreds of live gigs, how many have you seen?
Today was the first time experiencing Kate Tempest, watching the Maifeld Derby live stream. I tried to describe what I'd witnessed to my family, but could only sob. Hours later, I'm still watching everything I can find.
Much respect!!
This is what talent should be used for right now. Evolution is humbleness and passion with empathy
Nicely stated. Agreed.
This is so powerful, it hurts. Momentous performance that makes me cry like a baby everytime I watch it.
I'm loving all the truth and raw emotion this is inspiring.. Truth.
Its funny you mention that, because it is the exact same emotion that her performance evokes in me as well. It is the raw emotion that she communicates, in terms that only those who have lived it will understand and it gets me every time !!!
I cry all the time also.
Why does she makes us cry all the time??? She is the best of the fucking decade.
Empathy personified 💜

born to communicate. Connected, vital.
Rarely does one see such passionate and clear truth. Kate is a truly gifted person.
Kate tells it like it is - we should ALL be listening. Well done Kate, you have such an amazing talent.
Kate Tempest deserves more attention!
DAMN! I heard her doing this (Let them eat Chaos) on my local npr radio station(Greenville S.C.) on my way home from work tonight. I think I ran a red light or two! This is truly great... THANKS!!
Such a great performance. Huge fan of Tempest - go see her live if you can - it is INTENSE. In a good way.
Heard Kate today for the first time. What a stunning, amazingly talented artist -- with one of the greatest works I've experienced in a long time.
Kate is pure fire. Highlight of 2016
I am a 57 year old man and have just bought 2 Kate Tempest CDs. Just brilliant!.
Only a few years behind ya! Brilliant indeed..
Poetry was never like this at school. Mind you that was a long time ago lol.
Yes, Wilfred Owen and Thomas Hardy were hardly contemporary - I think this (or the 70's equivalent) would have been much more inspiring! I guess we had punk rock!
Me too!
she is amazing
She is one clever artist
Watch this 15 ,20 times still get goosebumps
Been watching it for the last 3/4 yrs, still find new stuff I've missed and still amazed at the delivery
A new fan here. Brilliant
Hello from Denmark. Thanks for posting, Love Kate Tempest.
A pleasure. Thanks for the comment :)
Saw this tour live in Norwich Monday just gone. Wonderful to see it at another venue, but to see live was epic. Seen her twice live and she is a must see!
Just got turned onto her by a friend like...10 minutes ago. I know she's a poet and all, but she has BARS on BARS on BARS. This is incredible.
I believe she began as a rapper. if you look on spotify she has a lot of rap based work
Saw her at OnBlackheath festival. Had watched a few clips and thought she just sounded like an angry teenager and to be honest wasn't too interested at all, but when she started performing this live it was mesmerising, to hear this live for a full hour or so is pretty incredible. Liked it so much I'm sat here now listening again with earphones....
Astounding.. it does take a minute - then the overpowering passion and veracity kicks in. :) thx.
Thank you so much for this.
Saw Kate at The Norwich Waterfront the other night and still feel shell-shocked.
I can't find the words to explain the power of her performance and the feeling that someone else feels like you do.
Thanks for posting. She is a voice of her generation, and yes, one of the reasons for hope. Stay woke, people.

Thank you So Much!!! for uploading this great Art by Kate Tempest. its A big light in to the darkness of this days! Much Love.
i always knew she would become a legend
Saw her perform it live last night in Birmingham. Very powerful and moving. There's a few dates left on the tour, not all have sold out. If you can, see her live, you won't regret it.
Pictures On A Screen is the "get choked up" moment on this LP for me.
I couldn't love your work more. You bring me to tears, and reality, and a whole nother world. 👏
I love Kate. Her soul touches mine like none before

Greatest artist of our times, thanks for existing ...
By the way: Also check out her cover of “It’s Alright, Ma”:

When I discovered Kate Tempest about two month ago (here in Germany she is still not very well known), I decided to change my forthcoming PhD-project to do research about the relation of arts, politics and left-wing social movements today (…I once wrote a book about Dylan, too).
Pied Raven thankyou so much for that - and your illuminating comment - and the link.. Let us all wake up! Peace!
Very well said.

she managed to get the crowd not to use any mobile phones.
I'd suggest if you want to see her live, don't clap in the quiet bits and dont bloody chat about the weather.
some people have actually come to listen to her, not you
Not even short of brilliant. It's all the way.

Equally incredible.. Glad you enjoyed.
props to her doing complex multi-syllabic rhymes when she doesn't need to and not many of her peers do. she's better than most rappers in fact.
