Brilliant Daniel. Just working my way through your great videos. I notice that you usually do the 3 Ss when you are reviving the lawns (scalp, scarify and seed) and then soil over and apply wetting agent but in this video you cover the back lawn with the fleece so my question is why do you cover with the fleece in this video?
I have got 20kg sack of mm50 and 34 bags of 50l bathgate compost (got it based on allett video - seems similar to field no 4) coming next week. I have old mossy lawn with a lot of thatch. I have bought the same rake and a scarifier from lidl. wish me luck, got just over 300 sqm front and back!
Nicely times tip that Dan as I've got a lawn to do on Thursday . I've scalped it with scarifier already . Got 7 bags compost and bag seed ready . I was going to walk it Inn after applying lol .... I won't now I'll leave light on top and work backwards
Hi Dan, The fleece you use, why have you only used it on the rear garden? Is it to prevent birds from eating the seeds or just protection against cold weather? Thanks in advance
Pitchcare do good sprayers...I've got a Cooper pegler CP8 was around £70 a few years ago,has a nice fan spray...miles better than your £15 ones from the garden centres.
Dan, I have an electric scarifier, can I confirm to get the grooves like youve made to overseed, I need to use the blade attachment as opposed to the rake like attachment? Also how long would you expect to leave the fleece on for? Thanks!
Very tidy piece of lawncare . Small is always beautiful . Just a pity I can not source that compost here in N Ireland . Can you recommend anything , I know you have gone off the JM recently , not sure exactly why . We have been deluged with rain and I am postponing my renovation until more favourable weather . Videos are really appreciated .
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert looking on Google images and comparing it to my lawn I would say no. However I can’t say with great certainty. I'm always bemused at how firm the soil appears to be when you scarify. I know you've discussed the right time before (too soft and water etc) but am I on the right track that where flat (like the front) that its the base material that matters and too much compost (a lot I mean) could make it worse over time. I'm minded on mine to go the 70/30 top dress to chase better drainage as even now the growth is great but the soil albeit sloping is well soft. It never goes Clay hard either. Thoughts?
Hi Dan. Another great video. Any recommendations for top dressing soil apart from the one you are using. I did use jacks magic (old formula) last year, on a budget so wondered if the new formula (less peat) is just as good or any others you would advise on, would any multi-purpose compost do the job? Thanks 😊
Hayters are great mowers,I've got a spirit 41 the model down from the harrier, don't think they make them anymore. Some shops still have a few in so can get them cheap 👍
Great video. How do I calculate how much compost to buy? The seed you mentioned 50g / m so that's fine, but I'm not sure about the compost. Many thanks.
Bought a new set last year but never got round to using them as had the sterling on loan then by time that had gone back i was happy with how the old blades were cutting but they all rusty now do changed
Dan, great video as always. I've just cut and scarified I have a fescue lawn. Quite a few bald spots due to lack of sun. I'm up in north east of Scotland (Dundee). Still to early to seed? Or will I get away with it if I use the fleece?
not related to this video but would you say its warm enough to get some praxys out now? ive got big weed problems and i want to overseed asap and i know you can only use that stuff once a year.
@@DanielHibbertLawnExpert ok nice one. i was only really worried because i didnt want to waste my only application in case it didnt work. will crack on 👍
Hi Dan . Please may I ask. Where would I be able to find a sprayer like that. I know you don’t put links up, but I can only find the cheap type and I’m already on my 2nd.
Great video once again Daniel. This is my next main job to do now , I’m off mid April and going to do it then. I have still got some odd moss patches ( along the edge of the sleepers ) might it be worth pulling them out by hand ? Or will it do no harm if I treat the whole lawn with a inhibit mix. I will be using Field 5 as I want to build a couple of areas.

HI. What type of fertilizer do you recommend for lawn seeding? Ammonium sulphide 21-0-0? or other? and in what quantity per square meter?

Front garden gets alot of sun and was pretty full anyway of grass the back was too threadbare
Could you explain the difference between scarifying and raking and I want to ocverseed so is raking better to make grooves cheers
Raking is using a rake i would say scarify is machine
For overseeing should I use the bladed figment rather than the spring type fit ent thanks
