I cannot explain why I loved Edward's character that much but his great acting has certainly something to do with it

Timothy is an 80's music fan --now I'm really impressed!!! Nice, funny, down to earth guy. King Edward could use some of Timothy's humor.
My fave scene is when Edward was asked to choose one of his sons, the way he expressed his deep emotions for his first son came out too well! Very moving and Uthred giving a nod to his reaction was all the way more special ❤️

I immediately thought of that scene as well. Him with his head on Father Pyrlig's shoulder, panicking and repeating "I cannot do this!". Absolutely heartbreaking.

King Alfred was the most outstanding in TLK and David Dawson literally getting Timothy into character on his first day was outstanding too!

Great interview ! It's kinda funny to see him drink from, at least, 3 different glasses/cups throughout the interview. It's like he came prepared because he knew it would last more than an hour and he would have to stay hydrated lol
Anyway, I agree, that scene in season 3 where Alfred just won't give the order to charge and Edward makes the decision in his place has to be one of the best scenes in the show !!
And Timothy's right when he says that they should trust Uhtred a bit more. It's so annoying to see that they only see him as a pagan after all he's done for them.

This is an obvious question and probably not the first one of this kind, but I was wondering if you guys have tried to (or will ever) have the actors who play Uhtred, King Alfred, Beocca and Athelfled on the show.

As a viewer I definitely experienced a LOT of frustration with Edward in season 4. Lol. Never got to the point of hating him though, because you know he is truly trying his best. His heart is in the right place...but his head is currently up his ass, which is causing the majority of his problems.
I became actually concerned for his character because I saw him grappling for power and influence and constantly having this "you aren't the boss of me" attitude, that instantly reminded me of Aethelred, and I didn't want Edward to fully evolve into someone with that kind of blatant arrogance.
I still have faith in Edward, and I think he will be better off once he realizes that he doesn't HAVE to be a carbon copy of Alfred, but takes to heart that Alfred went as far as asking a Dane for advice, and comes to the conclusion that a king doesn't operate alone.
Can't help but think of earlier seasons where Edward made it BLATANTLY clear that he did not want the crown, and just wanted to live with his first wife and his kid. He really is just a country boy who was forced into politics at the cost of everything he actually wanted. And with Aethelhelm slithering around the palace and manipulating everyone, it's no wonder Edward is fucked up, especially when lacking the guidance of his father, the only person who would at least come from a place of understanding (Alfred didn't want to be king either in season 1).
It's very strange seeing the relationship between Uhtred and Edward. Uhtred is of course a warrior, and is older than Edward, but essentially they're both stubborn children; and without Alfred being a stand-in "parent", they've got to figure out their differences on their own. I think in the long run it will blossom into a relationship that is even stronger than the one between Uhtred and Alfred.
Looking forward to seeing season 5 ⚔
Ya'll are awesome first off, Steve! thankyou for mentioning that scene when Edward told Uhtred to raise his son! You can read my mind at times. I am so glad that Tim knows how much of an idiot Edward is! THANK GOD! LOL. That should Edward's first thing is to do is trust Uhtred! which he did with Aethelstan! If you want all around awesome man to raise your royal sons ask Uhtred! you'd think everyone would listen to Uhtred but nooooooo they have to do everything the hard way. Awe,Ian Hart..... I miss him too! Don Henley's Boys of Summer....like it! The Boys!! yes!!! Ozark!! Kripke does it again and again
