I’m about to do a rebuild on a Holley double pumper 4150 & I’m not a mechanic, so I get my education from videos like yours! Education is one of the many purposes for the use of social media platforms! Keep up the good work!
The one thing I never skip when rebuilding a Holley is filling down the main body where the metering plates and base plate contact. Their always warped. Depending on the application I'll remove the choke horn I'll just cut it right off and smooth it out don't have much use for a choke after it's warmed up a bit. After it's installed and running if the engine requires too much idle adjustment and the primary blades uncover the transition slots I'll drill a small hole in each blade to bump up the idle and keep the blades closed enough so it only draws fuel from the idle circuits.
Muscle Car Solutions The Edelbrock rebuild kit doesn’t come with the flat head screws for the needle and seat so I have to order the screws for my rebuild because the original needle and seat on my Holley 4150 DP has the flathead made onto it. This kit is the only one my auto parts store had so I might have to go ahead and order the AFD kit online or the original Holley kit
Hey man. Love your videos, I’m a younger guy only about 20 but I love these damn carburetors, rebuilding my 3rd one right now, it’s a 650 4165 list 6210-3 and was wondering if the accelerator pump squirters always have needle valves at the bottom, took mine apart and it being a double pumper both nozzles were missing a ball or needle valve at the bottom, wondering if this is normal for that model? Love the videos though brother.
I am about to rebuild my Holley, It was on the shelf for a few months. When I installed it fuel was spraying out of the accelerator pump and at the heads of the bowel bolts, not to mention the rail inlets. Does too much fuel pressure damage seals?
Great video! I have a 4777 with the choke horn milled off. We used it for pavement circle track racing for a while then i put it on my street engines. 4 weeks ago it was running fine on the street then i pulled the engine to do a new engine. It went back onto a pavement modified for 1 race and now back on the van with the new engine.... My issue is now it will not idle below 1700 rpm. Completely rebuilt doing exactly how your video shows.... especially the idle transfer slots! Would you have any ideas where to look? I put an edelbrock 600cfm carb on and it.idles right away down to 700 rpm. Im wondering if the butterfly shafts are letting air through as that is the only thing i have not touched
@MuscleCarSolutions yes but do you think it could leak enough through the throttle shafts to idle that high? That is the only thing I have not replace on this.
I follow you to the T and was very happy good video . but at my finish a spring and ball that looks like a bullet was laying on my table. Found out it is a carb detent spring for choke. Would you know where goes and how?
Hey, thanks for your tutorial. I have a question about setting the initial float level. My needle and seat does not touch the base of the lever on the float. It's about 3/16" away from the adjustment spot on the float lever. I have the center hung floats just like the carb you're working on. So, even if I screw the needle and seat completely into the fuel bowl, the float flops around in the bowl. What could I do to remedy this? Thanks for any advice you can give. My carb is a Holley 850 double pumper, LIST 4781-2
Muscle Car Solutions Hey I bought this kit and changed from the Edelbrock rebuild kit to this AED kit and when I put this kit in my Holley 4150 I used one of the orange gaskets to seal my power valve, will that be fine or do I have to pull the bowl back off and change the seal? Thanks
I have a question...Im rebuilding a Holley DBL Pump 4150. Im planning on changing the primary accelerator pump from a 30cc to a 50cc pump. Do I need to change both pumps? Or can I leave a 30cc on the secondary and just go with one 50cc pump on the primary?
The question is why? Why do you think you need a bigger shot or fuel? It’s relevant to knowing if you need it and the bigger shot on the secondary side as well. You ask a great question. Just need to figure out if you’re on the correct path.
Hello how are you today i could be doing better so heres my problem i have a holly carb built by motorcraft im not even sure what kind of carb it is as far as it being a 4150 or which ever kind is, well here goes nothing i just got this ford f-350 flat bed with a 400 cc motor when i got it it wasnt running at all but i rocked the motor and it free'd up and it started to rotate freely my problem is when i tried to start it it fired up but it was reving up to like 7000 or even 8000 rpm and it would not idle down for the life of me, it sounds like and feels like its getting way to much fuel so i proceeded to adjust the air fuel mixture screws but after looking everywhere on the carb i couldn't find it any where on the carb then i figured out the air fuel mixture is adjustable by adjusting the electric choke on the passenger side of the carb but that didn't work it was still getting way to much fuel still so the next thing i tried to do adjust the float settings on the forward and rear float bowls snd it was alot dark outside and i didn't have much light to work with h high 7hhhy6yyy6gggghgf he's did dsßaàDf good wg All àaaaààasßAàaaaaaaqq at AaaaaaAapaà908
Your throttle is stuck wide open. Nothing idles at 7000 rpm. And if a 400 Ford turned that high, it would have shot the piston and rods out the side of the block.
My old boss gave me a holley carburetor i did know so i did some research turns out its a 600 can i buy smaller pins for it what can do so i can use less gas

Best part of the internet is all the awesome things you can learn from it! I appreciate you watching!

Best video I've seen on a Holley carb rebuild. Never did any type of carb rebuild but your video gave me the confidence to tackle it! Thanks!
For sure they are easy. Glad you jumped in to get it done!
Thank you. Very informative. I am a new subscriber now

Great video! Thanks, im gonna look for the kit to do it myself.
What edelbrock kit is that exactly that you used?

What is your inlet fuel pressure?
Great video. Lots of information. Thanks!
If you could make a video showing install of rich lean housing and second pump, that'd be cool.
I have just got to rebuilding my poly 750 double pumper now how do I adjust the airflow and the gas flow in the carburetor
Cheers mate from Oz.
Thanks for stopping by!
Thanks for the video!
Great video! My carb has an electric choke assembly, do I have to remove it to do the renew?
Thank you Sir
I usually do, some folks don’t. Depends on how you want to clean it. Can’t hurt to remove it, clean and replace.
Great video!

You have a vacuum leak!
@MuscleCarSolutions yes but do you think it could leak enough through the throttle shafts to idle that high?
That is the only thing I have not replace on this.
@nwmod39 that kind of thing doesn’t happen all of a sudden. Time to look elsewhere for that leak.
I think God every day I live 15 minutes from summit
your a lucky man no summits where I am
I have a C9AF-9510-U 4609 which I need to rebuild. Is this video close enough? Are all the Holley double pumpers roughly the same? Thanks
I follow you to the T and was very happy good video . but at my finish a spring and ball that looks like a bullet was laying on my table. Found out it is a carb detent spring for choke. Would you know where goes and how?
Is it the ball and spring out of the choke arm?
Would you recommend using Loctite on the baseplate screws so they don't fall in to the intake?
No. Generally folks leave those two out. No issue with that.

I just want to know how you got all those carburetor parts that clean what kind of cleaner did you use if you don't mind me asking 🤔
Ultrasonic cleaner. I did a video on it and the solution I use.
Thanks, it helped me out.
Good deal. Thank you!
Excellent video, very informative!

I changed my Cork filter on my metering block/mixture screw, and I still have gas leaking out of them? Any thoughts?
What’s your fuel pressure?
Good video lots of good information
Thanks!
How’d it run
Thanks

What would cause a Holley brawler 770 to back fire out of the carb?
Too many possibilities. Timing. Too lean. Vacuum leak.
Where does the ball bearing go,mine came out and I didn't see where it went??
Under the squirter nozzle. Ball first, then weight, then gasket and nozzle.
You missed the gasket that goes under the squirter. You put the top one on but not the bottom.
My old boss gave me a holley carburetor i did know so i did some research turns out its a 600 can i buy smaller pins for it what can do so i can use less gas
I’m assuming you meant jets. Yes here is an example; amzn.to/3MQi0cq
@@MuscleCarSolutions i found me a quadrajet for 70 dollars
@@MuscleCarSolutions this carb is double pumper i love it i wish i could put smaller ones like half the size
@@MuscleCarSolutions would it be hard to change the jets
In a Holley? No. Very easy. In a quadrajet? Significantly more complicated on the tuning side.
see as
We don't care about the choke!
