Hi guys, I hope you manage to save the fish and fingers crossed for you. You might want to try and put some polystyrene foam or kingsman in front of your windows as that is where a lot of heat will be lost. I now need to chec k mine 😬Take care Simon
Thanks for the tip! The fish seems to be making a full recovery in the bucket in the kitchen. Temp up to 7 degrees naturally. Now stuck with her indoors lol
If you see that turn off every pump and every thing which let the water ciculate. Because the normal heatzone take effekt and you have 5C in 1 ,5 m. Withe a circulation the temperature can drope to 1 agree.
hi you shouldn´t use the bobler on the bottom of your pond, because the bobler is making circulation in the water and all the "warm" water will be sent up and get cooled down and then your whole pond will be cold and your fish will die. you should have an airpump with a little airstone max 40 cm under the surface just to keep a hole for toxic stuff to get out of the water and bring new oxygen in/down. greetings from norway :D it was -19 degrees celsius here last week.
you do know this is normal ? as long as u feed them during the summer spring and fall they hibernate during the winter at the bottom since the bottom is the warmest, but i think it’s because instead of having a pond it’s a tank..
This cold snap has been the worst we've had for a lot of years. There have been quite a few people that have been caught out with it. I'm lucky that I have an ASHP that will run down to -15. Which is good but it costs a fortune and gets more expensive the colder it gets. Hopefully your fish will survive and come round once the water warms up a bit. What kind of heater are you getting?
@@JuliesGardenDiaries I'm not sure what the minimum temperature setting that would have. You could add a st1000 thermostat to it. That's what I use for my ASHP and it allows you to control the temperature way lower than a lot of the inbuilt thermostats.
I would be getting a hole in the surface instead of filming ....should be ok if the filter area is open ..oxygen. we go down to minus 10. They are hibernating.
At least the forecast is for warmer wetter weather on Sunday. Be careful not to heat it too quickly. New sub
Thanks for the tip and the sub
Hi, roll on spring! 🥶🤓
Definitely, thanks for commenting.

The air pump is also cooling the water, which is bad.
Thanks for the info

Hi, luckily we had no casualties in the end, even the upside down one made a full recovery. Thanks for commenting.

It's the cloverleaf 1kw, only planning on using it if the temperature drops below say 3 degrees as we can't afford to run it continually.

My pond froze over completely. I am guessing the fish will not make it. I ran the pump until 3 days ago because it froze also.

@@JuliesGardenDiaries My fish all made it too! I was amazed because our pond had 6" of ice for a week. Nature is amazing.
0:30. no big deal he's still moving and just chilling....brrrrr
He wasn't happy but recovered once inside.

Thanks for your comment, fortunately they all survived the freezing weather and are now enjoying the summer sunshine 😊
How did you get on
We were lucky they all survived and are enjoying the summer weather 😊
Oh dear I hope you’re Koi is ok now 😮
Yes thanks, the upside down koi seems to have made a full recovery for now anyways.
i hope your fish are ok guys
We seem to have got off lightly for now as all fish seem ok including the sick one enjoying a cosy retreat in our kitchen lol
Sad 😢
Thankfully they all survived 😊
Defrosted a hole to let out the gases ASP
Thanks yes we’ve removed all the ice now.
Fingers crossed for you guy's my main pond has frozen fire the first time ever 🤯🤯🤯🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶💯🧁👍👍👍
Yes this weather is a nightmare. We’ve removed the 3 inch thick ice on top and that seems to have helped. Good luck with your ponds.
