    If you wanted to make it more realistic, you could find a hard-cover novel of the same dimensions and use the cover sleeve over it to look like a genuine novel. Dictionaries or encyclopedias look obvious but a novel amongst other novels might be better.

      It’s main security feature is simply blending in with the environment. It’s not built to be some impenetrable lock.

    if you did put a gun in there what about having a round in the chamber and the magazine out then put the magazine in after the first shot and continue from there if needed

    Maybe you could take a file to the corners to round them off and maybe scuff the book up a bit so it doesn't look brand new. Cool option for stackers though.

    I anticipate people missing the point. It happened the last time you posted one of these. This little book safe isn't meant to stash firearms or gold bars. Any crook could kick that lock open with their big toe. That's not the point. It's just a cheap way to stash a little money aside, like you said. And if it's on a bookshelf . . . pretty rare that a thief would ever notice it. I actually slip money in actual books . . . like bookmarks, except not sticking out . . .

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yes, I knew someone who did that as well, crooks are taking the time to flip through every page on dozens and dozens of boos on a bookshelf the same as they aren't looking for book safes like this, a person who puts all their valuables in this book safe from walmart doest have anything to steal lol

    The light glare on the table and on reflective packages, bothers me.
    Can't you move a couple of feet to the side on the table and avoid the glare?

    That safe would be great for my knife collection. For when my little nephew comes to visit me. When my brother and his wife brings my little nephew over for a visit. My little nephew gets into everything. And he likes to open drawers. I have to put my knives on a very high shelf where my little nephew can't reach them.

    So nice of you put all your valuables in an easy to carry, obvious safe, that can be taken home to be broken into at the thief's leisure. The combination lock is completely useless. If you like inconspicuous storage cases, better off getting some of those shaving can or shampoo bottle hidden compartment 'safes'.

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a boom safe in my home for the last 7 years its still here ;) I have many secret safes most of them are decoys for a thief to see and think they scored...

    The quality and depth of the review is great but I think a book safe is the worst kind of hidden safe you can have. Books are rare now. If you have a bookshelf that's a novelty and people will look at those books to see what you have. And who has a dictionary now? Just hollow out a book on electrical wiring or keep your spare cash in a bottle of Xylitol that no one is ever going to steal.

    please elaborate why we shouldn't have money in the bank?

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      the bank is making interest off your money and your losing your money to inflation...every single year your money sitting in the bank has less spending value, there are many ways to keep the value of your money for years to come or even make money from it sitting...People who have anymore than say $1000 in a bank account doesn't realize this...that money is literally slowly going away like a leaky faucet losing water...

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Also keep on mind society made it normal to keep money in the ban k BUT think about this, you have money in the bank, your money but its not accessible 24 hours a day, you have to wait for the open hours, now in the case of an ATM they do go empty, what if you need cash at 8pm banks closed so you go to the ATM but its empty or has an error or was just robbed, now you have to go to another ATM maybe pay a fee since its not your ban k so now that bank cost you money to get your money out...

    • @jaerdahl
      @jaerdahl ปีที่แล้ว

      how to I keep the value of my money? I got a bunch in the bank. It feels safe in the bank and I get dividends each month but what would you suggest is smarter?

    • @jaerdahl
      @jaerdahl ปีที่แล้ว

      I don't think it needs to be private. You seemed to suggest that people with more than $1000 in the bank should maybe do something else with that money. Is it coins or bonds or what?

  • @yungruuku
    @yungruuku ปีที่แล้ว

    Also, Jeff, don’t you think it would be better if you got an actual dictionary and a real lock box and made and actual book safe? Instead of that cheap plastic one?
    It would look way more realistic and be 100 times more elusive. That thing looks like the obviously fake key rock people use to hide the spare key around their property.

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว

      I happen to use these as decoys so they are suppose to look fake lol BUT if you think about it if someone think this is fake its becasue they are really looking at it and if they are really looking at it ask yourself why? If this was on a bookshelf among other books and you have a person criticizing it is it becasue they are looking for a book to borrow or is it becasue they are already looking to steal from you? So should it really matter is the question...I also have real books that are cut out to hide things in but those too are decoys...

  • @Olumin37
    @Olumin37 ปีที่แล้ว

    Dont keep firearms in stuff like this. Store guns & ammunition in purpose made, heavy duty gun safes with mechanical locks. Bolt them either to the floor or wall. They arent cheap or portable, neither should they be. This is a requirement for gun owners in Germany and one of our laws I actually support. If you live alone you can put a shotgun under your pillow at night, or keep a sharp saber hanging over your bed for all I care. With children in the house, especially teenagers, these kinds of flimsy safes & locks wont stop them. I dont recommend leaving guns in your car either, at least not over long periods. These are novelty safes and not meant for any high security applications. Just my 2 cents.

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว

      every situation is different but here in the US we can have a loaded gun just sitting anywhere in fact we can have 10000 loaded guns just sitting all over the home and im all for the freedom of choice...James Yeager made an excellent point in that you can have guns ready quickly for need quickly and have safety...its like a scale and people store there guns all over that scale the 2 extremes would be one guy has a loaded gun siting on his table next to him so he needs 0 seconds to have his gun and ready in case theres a bad situation on the other side a guy might need 10 minutes to get to his gun and have it loaded...So you prioritize how fast its ready to how secure its stored...if there are kids in the home or you have company often it makes quick access harder safely...

    • @Olumin37
      @Olumin37 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@cutlerylover If its for home defense & I lived in the US, Id have the loaded shotgun leaning next to my bed or hanging on the wall. Putting them in a safe wouldn't make any sense. But Id still lock it away in a big safe during the day & when im out of the house. But I life alone, so child safety is not a concern. Being allowed to put a hundred loaded guns throughout your home doesn't also make it a good idea.

    • @cutlerylover
      @cutlerylover  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Olumin37 freedom is a good idea always :) I dont want my government telling me what to do or making me do anything, there are lots of bad ideas but I want the freedom to make those if I want lol...if you put hundreds of guns in your home loaded and ready to go and someone broke in when you were home and you were able to defend yourself becasue you had guns everyone in that case it was the best idea that saved your life...like I said every situation is different but id want to make the choices I dont want my government to tell me what they think is safe or not..Our president thinks all you need is a double barred shotgun to defend yourself and wants to taker away our more capable rifles like the AR5 BUT there are specific cases where people needed those more capable guns and had them and they survived the attack becasue of it there was a story a few years ago of a teenager who used an AR15 to kill 3 people who broke into his home if he only had a double barrel shotgun we probably would be dead today...There are MANY of these stories like that..So the government isnt always right about whats needed or whats "enough"...whats common is people dont need guns becasue no one is trying to kill them but what if your that uncommon case? wouldn't it be nice to be protected? thats how I look at the whole thing...
