I noticed a lot of people wondering why i never used the R1 or R2 followup for the spinning strike ash of war. It is not a guaranteed combo and if my opponent has the poise to tank the start up of the ash of war i will most likely not use the followup as it has a long animation i have to commit to. if they poise the initial part of the ash of war and dodge out they can easily punish me. There are moments where id commit to the full ash of war attack, these duels just didnt have that opportunity.
Question, are there enough materials in the game to upgrade weapons to +25 freely, or do you farm them/spawn in items? Asking for my own playthrough for when I find new stuff to use. xD

I've been using this weapon with spinning strikes on my melee build...with a catch. Unseen blade on a long weapon like this and an ash of war like spinning strikes is both hilarious and very effective.
I use golem glaive with waves of dark magic affinity and lightning spells in offhand, I can catch some people off guard but I end up invading either RoB/bleed, lusats shooting stars, or gransax bolt spammers so I just get fucked half the time
Definitely test a strength faith build, they showed faith a lot of love in this game. I never run with faith, but I've done all faith builds in Elden Ring so far
This is my favorite weapon. Does amazingly with a cold infusion and ice spear ash of war. I win 90% of duals with it on my strength 60 int 28 build and I'm only decent at these games.
Are there any weapons that need that much strength? Or just for the damage scaling? I'm around 55 strength but this is my first souls game and it's all new to me
@@Kholaslittlespot1 the Giant Crusher needs a minimum of 60 strength to use one handed, but you can use it two handed or just put the strength heirloom talisman on to get that extra 5 points to 60.
@@INT_Based yeah 60 is a solid go to number for strength because of requirement as stated above in the other reply. But also two handing increases your strength by 50% so two handing bumps it up to 90 for weapon scaling. The points in INT I did was also for some weapon requirements (royal greatsword for instance) as well as getting good frost scaling and damage scaling for my INT ashes of war.
Loved this series for ds3. So glad you are regularly posting these for Elden Ring. You should do both Moonveil and Rivers of Blood before they get nerfed. It might get demonetized for bullying, but that's just a risk we have to take.
This a bit of an unpopular opinion, but rivers of blood isn't fundamentally a good weapon. The weapon itself is so incredibly meh outside of the ash of war that it has zero mixup potential without an offhand catalyst. It does a good job of punishing people who don't wear heavy armor though, as that provides both robustness and poise, both which help nullify corpse piler.
@@skeletalspiders6697 It seems meh in some scenarios because it's almost always used by genuinely terrible players. The running r2 is fantastic, it pairs well with another katana(it's l1 out-trades like a boss.), and it generally causes anxiety in your opponents.
I hope that the flamberge makes it to your weapon showcase videos! Ive been playing around with it lately and I actually really like it. I'd like to see someone use it that's better than I am 🤣
14:04 the melee oriented dragon spells have quite strong hyper armor once they get going, but you can very easily knock someone out of them during the initial few seconds
Dude the flaming strike combo is so clean. And on the right weapon it's pretty much instant death or panic plus the wide swing. Definitely a good tool to have in pvp

I love giant hunt. I decided to try it out when I was fighting Maliketh, on my +25 Zweihander. It took around 20% of his HP. Used it to beat him on my 3rd (?) try.

giant hunt and zwei is just such a dream combo... I use spear talisman and it just wrecks... Humanoid enemies are absolutely obliterated by it (giving you free fullcharged R2 most of the time) and bigger enemies take enormous chunks of damage from counter... So far I beat every boss with this.
You should showcase morgotts cursed sword it has great dex scaling and also scales with arcane it has the curved great sword move set the rolling R1 is really fast compared to other attacks and the L2 is great in pvp especially after 1.04
I lost to it the first time I fought it since I didn’t know how to roll the aow. But once you see it once, if you miss that aow you’re going to get punished.
there's something so manly about chugging all your estus in front of your duel opponent, it's like someone chugging their mug of ale, slamming it down on the counter and saying "alright, now we fight!"
14:27 Eochaid's Dancing Blade doesn't do a lot of damage on it's own, but each hit of the spinning blade counts towards "successive attack" talismans like Rotten Wing Sword or Godskin Swaddling Cloth.
Idc I love that boss for the great sword version it’s just sad it doesn’t do that much in pvp to punish people if you hit them….or at least in my experience it’s not that good….but for pve it does some decent damage
Hey Chase! The Storm Assault ash of war works really well on people aggressing you. It might not work as well in duels, because people are a bit more patient, but in invasions it’s a killer. If you activate the ash of war as the person is running at you, it almost always stuns depending on their poise, and combos into the plunge for usually over 1200. Great video and streams as always man!

Can't wait for you to get to colossal swords (specifically the "Guts" greatsword and zweihander). Love the weapons to death in both pve and pvp for their stagger and since they're so slow you really need to time attacks (helped me improve a lot since im a newbie). Thanks for the good work Chase!
This is probably one of my favorite weapons in the game now. It actually has really good AR scaling with a STR/INT build with cold affinity. The weapon AR is actually comparable to a pure strength build with heavy affinity. 55 STR (soft cap)/52 INT (for Lusat's Staff) with B/C scaling and you have a heavy hitting weapon and the ability to be a pretty strong wizard with enough leftover stats to be decently tanky. Frost spells and ice spear and you got a decent STR frostbite build (definitely not roleplaying as Ranni's apprentice or anything).
Flaming Strike on this thing absolutely slaps, especially in invasions where the host's friends will often get cocky and rush you right into the L2+R2 combo and just stop existing. If it wasn't for Flaming Strike I would just throw Spinning Strike on there and call it Splitleaf Greatsword 2.0
The Nightrider Glaive is nasty as a Heavy. I run it with the Phantom Slash Ash of war and its capable of dishing out 2K Damage with just golden vow on the full follow up combo. Almost 4K Damage at RL260 as well. Great Showcase man.
I don’t really ever play duels, but if I did, I think I would be like our buddy Q here. Show up, cast a bunch of incantations that all miss, and get roll-caught to death quickly
I love this weapon too, and i use it with all my pvp builds, don't matter how u modify that weapon is always good and can be adpt it to any build, also the zwaihander dont requires many stats and its always good to have a greatsword in ur arsenal, nice video like always, ty for the content :)

Getting into late game with my strength build and I really like this halberd. I found a lot of the other strength based weapons miserable to use. Either too slow or no range. But this thing is nice surprise.
The number of options this game has for any single build is insane. Optimizing for certain weapons on top of that and it gets even crazier. Absolutely loving it and I'll be playing and experimenting for a long time to come. Hoping they add arena and ranking soon tho. Pvp is fun af, but it'll be even more fun with actual stats, rewards and / or ranks
Ranking? For pvp? Yea because we want to reward people for using the most sweaty tryhard builds possible. If they introduced rankings the way Pvp is rn, you'd kill whatever was left of it. High ranks would be nothing but bhs abusers and RoB spammers. As if they aren't bad enough already.

The first time I landed Storm Assault with this Glaive it did 1400+ damage and I just stood there like *WHAT*... This one of the best weapons in the game by far.
I like to use sword dance on the nightriders glaive, it has insanely long reach and AR so it shreds people in duels and it’s pretty easy to roll catch or bait people into if you have decent spacing and don’t spam it
Hey Chase, idk if I've ever seen you use the Iron Cleaver in stream, but the standing R2 is a delayed strikes that sprints you forward, the distance depends whether you charge it or not. Very fun, very aggressive, I'd say it's definitely worth a showcase and/or some invasions. Seems to be an underrused weapon overall so (for me) it's been catching a LOT of people off guard. nightrider glaive is so good with quickstep, destroys bosses in pve and is pretty good in pve. You kinda get that backstep utility you had in ds2. as in, if you quickstep backwards you will lunge forward with a poke attack, while dodging forward does a much faster short range/attack. You can decide to play with spacing/rushdown playstyle, or you could swap to a poise trade defensive playstyle. Lotta utility, Pretty neat
You should try this weapon out on an arc/str build alongside stormcaller. It synergises really well with the halberd moveset and r1 rollcatches out of it. With bleed it’d be a blast.
This weapon is straight fire. I have a strength build with heavy armor (for more poise) and a maxed out Glave to trade with others. Also, the stomp ash of war gives you a guaranteed combo; when it lands you can get a light attack. The stomp itself has pretty good armor/poise on it as well and can roll catch.
2:00 ...😳😅... yeah, holy shit. I don't know if that just flew over everyone's heads but that was nasty. Turn 180°, quick evade step (toward opponent), turn back INTO your opponent with the running thrust. That covers so much distance it's insane.
Yeah, it's a pretty well known technique for people who do alot of pvp, you can chase and roll-catch someone if you do it properly. It's using the buffering (the system that queue input to do them at the first frame available) of the game to your advantage to perform this. You can find some tutorial to understand how it's done, but it's all about muscle memory so you'll have to practice it to do it instinctively in a fight. It was also the case in ds3 (maybe even in earlier souls games, I didn't pvp back then so I don't know). PS : sorry for the long answer x)
Kinda surprised he didn’t do R2 out of the spinning strikes to do a jump lunge. Most people don’t see it coming but it can leave you vulnerable if missed.

Sadly its damage ranges from, about 400 to 1975 depending on the range you get hit from.
yeah i ususally use alexander shard, milicent prosthesis, and rotten wing sword... it does 2k ish if I'm lucky

This quickly became my favorite weapon with multiple different builds. The roll catches are amazing.
Storm assault is amazing in duels. If they run at your for an attack. It will stun them for a guarantee 80% health deletion.

For spinning strikes you can do alternate attacks when you do light and heavy attacks while doing the ash of war

The first time I landed Storm Assault with this Glaive it did 1400+ damage and I just stood there like *WHAT*...
This one of the best weapons in the game by far.
I rock the Nightrider Glaive with blood tax and I think it works out pretty well.
Storm assault is so OP…when facing agressive dudes you have instant poise and guarantees a 1k+ damage.
I like to use sword dance on the nightriders glaive, it has insanely long reach and AR so it shreds people in duels and it’s pretty easy to roll catch or bait people into if you have decent spacing and don’t spam it

Hey Chase, idk if I've ever seen you use the Iron Cleaver in stream, but the standing R2 is a delayed strikes that sprints you forward, the distance depends whether you charge it or not. Very fun, very aggressive, I'd say it's definitely worth a showcase and/or some invasions. Seems to be an underrused weapon overall so (for me) it's been catching a LOT of people off guard.

nightrider glaive is so good with quickstep, destroys bosses in pve and is pretty good in pve. You kinda get that backstep utility you had in ds2. as in, if you quickstep backwards you will lunge forward with a poke attack, while dodging forward does a much faster short range/attack. You can decide to play with spacing/rushdown playstyle, or you could swap to a poise trade defensive playstyle. Lotta utility, Pretty neat
You should try this weapon out on an arc/str build alongside stormcaller. It synergises really well with the halberd moveset and r1 rollcatches out of it. With bleed it’d be a blast.
These Weapon showcases remind me of the Training Rooms that Praise the Sun used to do. He would have loved this game 🙏🏽

This weapon is straight fire. I have a strength build with heavy armor (for more poise) and a maxed out Glave to trade with others. Also, the stomp ash of war gives you a guaranteed combo; when it lands you can get a light attack. The stomp itself has pretty good armor/poise on it as well and can roll catch.
2:00 ...😳😅... yeah, holy shit. I don't know if that just flew over everyone's heads but that was nasty. Turn 180°, quick evade step (toward opponent), turn back INTO your opponent with the running thrust. That covers so much distance it's insane.
Yeah, it's a pretty well known technique for people who do alot of pvp, you can chase and roll-catch someone if you do it properly.
It's using the buffering (the system that queue input to do them at the first frame available) of the game to your advantage to perform this. You can find some tutorial to understand how it's done, but it's all about muscle memory so you'll have to practice it to do it instinctively in a fight.
It was also the case in ds3 (maybe even in earlier souls games, I didn't pvp back then so I don't know).

Ahhh my favorite weapon! Storm assault AOW with frost is kinda OP. You Have to have high poise to trade but its worth it

Kinda surprised he didn’t do R2 out of the spinning strikes to do a jump lunge. Most people don’t see it coming but it can leave you vulnerable if missed.
tbf he rarely did those on the splitleaf either
it is a great combo, but from personal experience it doesnt tend to lock players into the full combo so im left vulnerable if they poise or roll out.
@@ChaseTheBro same, r1 is just more reliable. the r2 recovery is also pretty long.
Appriciate the showcase! I think it would be even more great if you add more invasions or 1 invasion but against 2 or 3 man teams.
