I’ve been contemplating getting rid of the clear poly bags. It seemed really wasteful. On poshmark labels you can ship up to 5 lbs on the standard label not 15. If it weighs more like coats or bundles, the seller has to buy an upgraded label. Can get really expensive too. The max weight with Posh is 10 lbs.

Didn't realize adding custom SKUs was so easy! Labeled a few bins and their corresponding listings over the weekend and I can already tell it's going to save me so much time! Agreed about the clear polybags too - I save them from personal orders for re-use on more expensive sales, but other than that haven't gotten any complaints either. Thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge! 😊
I received a blouse yesterday, from a new seller, and she just put it in a poly bag. It was warm and humid, thankfully it had not soured nor did it have mildew. I sent her a message and let her know about it, and also let her know that as a reseller, I also learned something. Then I gave her positive feedback. She was appreciative of me letting her know.
Same thing happened to me.. I bought a blouse on EBay and they just put the blouse in the poly bag without a plastic bag and it ripped during the shipping route to me and the Blouse was ruined!
I pre-pack all my clothing in clear zip lock poly bags but only because all of my clothing inventory is out in my garage and it protects the clothing from dust or bugs etc. I don’t use a bin system...I have 3 big (5 drawer) metal filing cabinets that I got free from a business that went out of business. I store jerseys in one, tops in another and jeans in another. I don’t sell shoes...just not my thing. The other thing I sell are sports cards and sports memorabilia and I keep that inventory in my house. Great video! Keep on keepin on!
Hotdog-wise 🤣 I have to poly bag clothes to protect them from dog hair, but I don’t seal them until they’re ready to go. I’ve received a package that had been mangled by USPS, but a poly bag saved the fabric, so I’m a believer. However, I do hate creating extra waste. 😬
I use generic zip lock bags from the dollar store. So they don't get wasted when I open things again and/or sell it outside of mailing. I've had a plenty of people thankful for the bag.
Just thought I would share 1 tip to add on to the poly bag info. If you do want to go that route you could also consider just getting a big box of gallon ziplock bags and then that way you can reuse them if the item doesn’t sell or something like that. I do this sometimes if I have an item that’s like super fuzzy or something to avoid it getting cut when they open their package.
I use polybags so that things don't take on scents from my house. I have dogs, that my husband loves- and I am paranoid about the clothes smelling like animals! I wash it, process it, bag it, store it.

Then I can just pile them in a box in the closet and not plastic bins. But, when I ship the item, I just take the plush out of the bag and reuse if for another item that needs to be stored in inventory.

Ive been shipping pottery and glass practically from the birth of ebay. I'm really good at it but it does take time and lots of packing material! I thought it might be interesting to branch out to clothing. I've been watching several big sellers who store in poly bags so I thought that was the way to go. From your comments and watcher comments, I will have to reevaluate. I don't know that I would ship a business jacket in a poly mailer tho! Love your videos, i have been learning a lot!!
I put the SKU as the very last info in my description on Poshmark. ie: I write SKU:15-0383. That way I don't have to go into the record to scroll all the way down to find it.
Is this the same system you use today? I know this video was almost a year ago so I wasn't sure. I thought that you also sell hardgoods, so where do they fit in the system? Do put them in the bins the same as you do with the clothing?
this video basically launched my store. Can you. when there is time. expand on shipping.. ebay shipping options, global shipping, what do do when packages are lost, when yo refund. i could keep going.. but basically the shipping options ebay offers are still not clear, after three months.. i find all different info online. in the last three months i’ve had 3 lost packages, one in the uk, 4 week delivery in canada. for me right now this topics or pressing. for example the grey area of a lost priority package, 50$ automatic insurance? with ebay or usps? damage packages? how. to make claims and when? or ebay customer service on lost packages.. etc. Thanks… love your content..
Can you explain the game of Poshmark in one of your videos? I heard that you have to do some kind of Social marketing.. How does that work ? Do you do that ? or do you just list on Poshmark and forget about it?
When you buy your shipping labels, Ebay takes you to a page that has a list of all the items including the names and addresses of their buyers. I just look at the name and match it to the label.
I store all clothing in a ziplock labeled with a sku sticker. I am labeling bins with a letter. I always wrap everything in tissue to mail. At first i thought it was a good idea to pack it a mailer, until a customer requested measurements. Lessons learned.
I keep mine in reusable ziplocks for the same reason-it’s in my basement and although I run a dehumidifier 24/7 I worry about smell or worse: moth holes in the wool and cashmere!
I put the label on the other side, over the closure, in case it might get caught on anything sliding down USPS processing line, and in case the envelope adhesive fails. Whatever.
You don’t use pirate ship for everything? I’ve just started using pirate ship and listing free ship everything. Not sure if the pros and cons I’m facing changing.

Hi Matt, I appreciate you keeping us "slightly older" folks like myself in the know about the newest clothing trends. Thanks to you, I have made several good sales!! I have a question for you. How can you tell the difference between mens and womens jeans? I have a pair of vintage tommy hilfiger jeans with the big logo, but I'm not sure how to identify them. They have deep front pockets and a high rise which makes me think they are womens jeans. My husband says they look like mens jeans to him. How can you be sure? Thanks!
I typically rely on the pocket test and how they look to judge. So I'm as lost as you are. They'll probably sell fastest as "mom jeans" marketed to women - it's fine to say in the description that you're not sure about gender. Just include measurements.
The utility of putting it in the custom label section is that it appears right on the shipping page. Otherwise you'd have to put it in your title or open up each listing to find the info.
@@ThriftALife it does it is an exact copy which is great for listing multiples of the same type and size. I’m like you in I haven’t had luck with lots with low dollar items but selling individually things go quick.
I dont know why I make shipping so complicated in my mind. Thanks for the video! For all my listings, so far, I've guessed about the dimensions and the weight in the shipping section. I didn't think it mattered since I'm offering "free" shipping to the customer.. Will this bite me in tha ass when I actually go to ship the item?
For first class packages you don't actually have to measure the dimensions of the package, I don't even touch those fields. Weight is the thing that's important to get right.

You can capture the SKU on Poshmark too and it shows in the order screen
Oh nice, hadn't noticed that. Thanks.
I put the SKU as the very last info in my description on Poshmark. ie: I write SKU:15-0383. That way I don't have to go into the record to scroll all the way down to find it.
Get the freezer bags that has twist ties they look like poly bags
I really enjoyed your video. You have made me think -. Why am I using the clear poly's for clothing? LOL. You are so right. Thanks :)
Thanks thanks. Yeah more optional than people assume.
Can you explain the game of Poshmark in one of your videos? I heard that you have to do some kind of Social marketing.. How does that work ? Do you do that ? or do you just list on Poshmark and forget about it?
So with a thermal printer, how do you know what label goes on what item when you print in bulk?
I pack my items before printing and put the person's name on the packaging. Then just match them up
When you buy your shipping labels, Ebay takes you to a page that has a list of all the items including the names and addresses of their buyers.
Love your videos! Thanks for the tips.
Is Pirate ship cheaper than the discounted ebay labels? Thanks.
I store in the clear bags then in a tote because I have a cat and because the totes stored in the basement which can impart a sent.
Lol love the streamline system ;)
Would you consider showing us how to list on Posh? I could watch other videos probably, but you’re to the point and I need that.
I made a video about it a while back. Hopefully it's concise: th-cam.com/video/7mpt62S08h4/w-d-xo.html
you are so funny I love your videos very helpful.... Thankyou
Hi Matt. Love your channel. I’m curious if you’re still using your Rollo printer, and if you recommend it over others? Thanks so much!
Yes, still use it. I have nothing to compare it to but not a single problem ever
@@ThriftALife that's really helpful. thanks for letting me know.
I poly bag everything because everything's kept in my garage and it gets so dusty in there even if they're in totes.
I keep mine in reusable ziplocks for the same reason-it’s in my basement and although I run a dehumidifier 24/7 I worry about smell or worse: moth holes in the wool and cashmere!
Good point, makes sense.
Thanls for the video. I love my IKEA bags!!!
Don't know how I resold without them.
What do you put as your shipping service while listing, if you later decide to use Pirate Ship?
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING YOUR EXPERIENCE AND WHAT WORKS.....YOU ARE VERY APPRECIATED. 🙏🇺🇸👍😎
Thanks for watching Janice
Do you do all of the thrifting? Do you use VAs?
Are you full time? How many listings do you keep active? You had a lot of sales!! I can’t wait to get to that point!!
Yeah, I'm full time. Hovering around 700 actives right now. That was an especially big sales volume day, usually not that huge.
@@ThriftALife I don’t know if this is too personal but I won’t be offended if you don’t answer...on average what would you say you make a year on the lowest end? I’m part time right now and just started beginning of February and I’m just trying to figure out some goal points for myself to eventually turn full time and quit my full time job :) again, thank you so much for the videos you have been immensely helpful in my journey thus far!
Its a streamlined and very efficient process 📝😋😂
Thank you for information, much appreciated
Thanks for watching, Tom.
What is your ebay name? Love your advice..keep it coming.
Deep front pockets means they’re men’s, right?
I have WOMEN’S BOYFRIEND JEANS (thank you, Amazon) with really deep front pockets. I love them, very flattering, and I look so cute in them. Ha!
Think you are keeping POST~IT$ in business 😏 good stuff as always . . . getting closer to making the jump into the fire🔥TFS
Great content. Thanks so much!
Thanks for watching, hope it's helpful
Thanks for the video.
Maybe you should just incorporate the invetory bin # right on your listing
The utility of putting it in the custom label section is that it appears right on the shipping page. Otherwise you'd have to put it in your title or open up each listing to find the info.
It doesn't wipe inventory info, if you use item out of stock option for your store, when you end the listing.
Good tip, thanks. Someone else told me if you "sell similar" on an ended listing it repopulates the custom label field too.
@@ThriftALife it does it is an exact copy which is great for listing multiples of the same type and size. I’m like you in I haven’t had luck with lots with low dollar items but selling individually things go quick.
Love the sarcasm...🤣
Great content brother.
Thank you much
I dont know why I make shipping so complicated in my mind. Thanks for the video! For all my listings, so far, I've guessed about the dimensions and the weight in the shipping section. I didn't think it mattered since I'm offering "free" shipping to the customer.. Will this bite me in tha ass when I actually go to ship the item?
Just make sure you do it properly when you ship things, or you might get in trouble with USPS
@@dogsitterlife5023 thankyou 😃
For first class packages you don't actually have to measure the dimensions of the package, I don't even touch those fields. Weight is the thing that's important to get right.
@@ThriftALife Thank-you 😊
Yeah that would really be boring if they were in numerical order! 🤪
