It really makes me upset that they'd even consider doing this. This isn't just a shopping mall that you tear down, it's a valuable part of history. And you're taking away the opportunity for future generations to experience it as it was in 1963. Leave it alone!

Leave Dealey Plaza as it is! It is important to remember the assassination as it happened and to be able to step into history witnessing the live traffic on Elm as it brings to life this living memorial. Leave Elm Street open as it is and always has been and leave the grassy knoll and the Texas School Book Depository (The Sixth Floor Museum at Dealey Plaza) and all other buildings and features of the plaza the way were and are now! The wheel isn't broken, so don't try to fix it!

If anything is more important than money, its preserving the place where true democracy died. Not one structure in the entire plaza should be disturbed unless its in dire need of repair.
Figure out a way to shutoff Houston to Elm though - thats a great idea. No traffic in that area would allow the thousands of visitors each year to stand right in the spot where the motorcade came thru.

Y’all want some public opinion? Well, here’s my public opinion: Leave Dealey Plaza ALONE. It is meaningful to see video and photographs from 11/1963 and then to go to the place and feel as though you’re just stepping right into those videos and photographs. Here I am seeing pretty much the same thing that JFK saw in the last couple of minutes of his life.
Don’t get me started about them tearing down Parkland Hospital. Actually I do understand that as it is it can’t be properly equipped to use the new medical technology. However the ER? Trauma room 1? Couldn’t they tear down the rest and just leave that small area as a historical monument?
Ugh! The next thing we know they’re going to want to tear down the Alamo…. I know they can’t because it is a designated historical monument. But I’ll bet they would if they could
I lived in Ft. Worth most of my life, but I moved out of state several years ago and as soon as I’m gone they have to start tearing things up - or down. Leave my memories and my childhood alone!!!

The one and only thing that needs done with the plaza is pruning the trees, and repairing the damage that tourists have done to the ground in areas all over the plaza. They are in desperate need of attention because they're overgrown and the city park needs to prune them all. The small trees on each side of the pergola, next to where Zapruder stood and then on the opposite end need pruning or replaced. The area directly front of the concrete block Zapruder stood on, and part of the steps is ruined from people trodding on it to the point that there's a massive hole between the concrete steps and the ground. Compared to what the plaza used to look like, it looks like a pig sty. It was always well groomed until after the 50th anniversary. It's a darned shame that the city has allowed to get thaisway.

The opportunities to conserve, which essentially means "leaving in peace", such landmarks and areas are extraordinarily rare in these times.
