Hey Linus :) The Z77 keyboard has the extra key switches incase any of the switches get damaged when you are swapping them out, because you can use other switches with this board! Since they are removable, you can use your own Cherry or other switch you may have already with this board!
Just so people know, they use Outemu switches. One of the two connectors is thinner than other brands and a Cherry or Gateron switch usually gets destroyed if you try to insert them. You need Outemu switches. You can try to crimp them otherwise but 50% of the time you'll break the swich before you get it in there.

I had a K551 Vara RGB and I loved it, including the metallic twang. Ended up giving it to a friend once I got a Corsair K70 LUX with Cherry MX Blues. He loves it, too.

After seeing this video quite a while ago I'd have to say I recommend the Redragon peripherals. I ended up getting the K553 Usas rather than the Vara they showed here, and that keyboard has held up ever since I got it last year. Even being my go-to gaming keyboard, not a lot of wear shows on the caps, even the WASD keys still look fairly good. The Outemu Blue switches still feel nice as well. I have a Redragon M601 mouse to go with it, and I'd say it also held up quite well to being at the hands of a gamer for more than a year. Though they may be inexpensive, Redragon products do display good quality from my experience.
keycaps are not so stable. full plastic board. using kailih switches and asking so much money for that crap? That keyboard cost 50% of the price at the best.
Edijs Kocins as someone who's only tried it, my experience with it was pretty good. it felt and looked good. and if it runs the same software for rgb that the Razer Naga Chroma has, then the Blackwidow is pretty awesome. in my opinion, of course
I purchased the K551 Vara and really loved it for a very short period of time. After about 30 days I started getting multiple triggering on the "o" key, the "i" key the single tick key ( ' ), the "e" key and a couple others. I tried everything, including blasting the individual keys with 80 PSI. I tried Windows Keyboard Settings, a different USB port, rebooting, looking for newer drivers (there are none), and nothing worked. The K551 Vera is now sitting on my keyboard pile along with a dozen other keyboards. And I'm sure I don't have to tell you that support for the Redragon is non-existent.
@@dds7799 I had to Google "Outemu." I had no idea there were imitation Cherry Mx keys out there marketed as simply "MX." I just assumed vendors were running out of space so they dropped the "Cherry." Clearly, that's not the case. Live and learn....
@@dds7799 I purchased a Redragon K551 on Amazon that specifically states "Cherry MX Blue" keys. How can one tell the difference between Cherry and Outemu? www.amazon.com/gp/product/B016M91SS0/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
I used the E-Eagle or Mechanial Eagle Z77 or whatever they called it in black . I had it for several years, always worked like a charm. Especially the small form factor and the steel plate made it pretty sturdy. It still works but I replaced it with a Corsair K95 with Cherry MX Browns.
Yesterday I was looking for a budget mechanical keyboard and I said Linus should do a mechanical keyboard video. Linus was probably stalking me and stole my video idea, so I request this video to be taken down immediately. :)
Being Serbian, I find myself hitting Enter way too often instead of the 'ž' key (the \| cap) on the standard European keyboards. Additionally, the long Enter is uglier to me in comparison to the slim one.
I can't believe how cheap mechanical boards have gotten. Solid ones too. Five years ago boards like this would easily be over $100 almost approaching $200.
whats impressive to me is how cherry boards continue to stay like 80 dollars and people still shill out for them when their switches are made way better by gateron and outemu
Outemu is debatable compared to Cherry but Gateron I agree 100%. There's a reason why Gateron switches are more popular if you talk to actual enthusiasts over Cherry. They may have been first, but they ain't the best.
outemu blue is better than gateron blue imo, but outemu red, black and brown are all scratchy and awful, gateron is hands down the best for reds and blacks
I hate that if youtubers show things it costs like for example 30 dollars, but for some reason if I look on the german amazon it costs 50 euros! euro's are even worth more!
ISO and ANSI layout (notably the shape of the Return-key) is mostly a matter of preference; I try to stick to layouts that I find elsewhere in my country. So ideally keyboard reviews would note if both versions are available of the same keyboard.
You forgot the HV KB-389L Keyboard and mouse combo, its a blue switch mechanical keyboard with a detachable wrist wrest, its made out of metal so its really sturdy, its waterproof, and comes with a 6k dpi mouse. The keyboard has about 14 Modes, and a good software, while the mouse also has a software, but not the best, it comes with 6 modes, but if you do have the software, you can unlock about 64 modes, with all the categories. For 50$, it's the best purchase I've made.

So you recommend Redragon again? Starting to notice a trend with budget peripherals...
samtherat6 I can recommend one on sale. its white metal rgb mechanical www.amazon.com/dp/B01N57WL39
I get a notification while watching the video. TH-cam back at it again
Nice nail job Linus.
Royal Kludge RK61 is by far my fav budget keyboard. RGB, mechanical, and my favorite part is that it's 60% so it looks clean and fits my small hands
why are all the red dragon keyboards CDN$ 198.00 now? i know the Canadian dollar isn't the greatest but its not that bad.
Ballin Stalin your profile picture is an icing on the comment😂😂😂😂😂
Try redragon yama for browns or redragon indrah for blues, really *noice* clicks n clacks
same in Australian Dollar
Gaming keyboard giveaway on my channel
!
what am i doing here? i have a black widow chroma. Damn it, Linus
sadly its crap keyboard and are way overpriced.. :D
+Edijus Kocins I love my Blackwidow Chroma, how is it a "crap keyboard" in any way
keycaps are not so stable. full plastic board. using kailih switches and asking so much money for that crap? That keyboard cost 50% of the price at the best.
Anetta Gál you can get better quality keyboard in same price. roccat, topre, Leopold...
And I'm sure I don't have to tell you that support for the Redragon is non-existent.
and thats the reason why you shouldnt buy outemu based kbs
@@dds7799 I had to Google "Outemu." I had no idea there were imitation Cherry Mx keys out there marketed as simply "MX." I just assumed vendors were running out of space so they dropped the "Cherry." Clearly, that's not the case. Live and learn....
@@dds7799 I purchased a Redragon K551 on Amazon that specifically states "Cherry MX Blue" keys. How can one tell the difference between Cherry and Outemu?

whoever typing on those keyboard has some nice hands
it’s the hand model lol
Red Dragon keyboards are my choice for cheap mechanical keyboard. It’s fantastic for gaming and for typing. I love it.
Kala best
Still waiting on the budget RGB peripherals video.
samtherat6 This was basically it.
I know I'm quite late but, on the "E-Element Z77", if you click FN+INS it changes the light design/movement to ones different to the 1-9 selection
6:03 Fun fact, It's the same legend as Corsair K63 too
You should try to do a one on monitors (if you could even find some)
When he said 1! i was hysterically laughing for about 2 minutes while a class mate of me held a presentation about the amazon rainforrest.
smoky the bear wants you to stop laughing at his crisis
@@kqzo okay i'll stop
I used the E-Eagle or Mechanial Eagle Z77 or whatever they called it in black . I had it for several years, always worked like a charm. Especially the small form factor and the steel plate made it pretty sturdy. It still works but I replaced it with a Corsair K95 with Cherry MX Browns.
On the red dragon one I would suggest buy some keycaps maybe rubber for an anti slip grip
"my favourite keys are the 5% and the ONE"
Dead
aula nailed it with a numlock even though they can't afford a real number pad
I just realized that the keyboard at 7:38 looks EXACTLY like a Redragon Kala k557 except for the switches, backlight and the branding.
My favourite key would be the " 2@ "😂😂
Ben Chant me it would be [2 "] key... 'cause my keyboard would be in french-canada
Yesterday I was looking for a budget mechanical keyboard and I said Linus should do a mechanical keyboard video. Linus was probably stalking me and stole my video idea, so I request this video to be taken down immediately. :)
LOSERDUDE i have a budget rgb keyboard thats mechanical and good build quality for 25 bucks. its on amazon the Hcman www.amazon.com/dp/B01N57WL39
"Annoying narrow enter key"
Excuse me, that's the far superior giant enter key. Get out of here with your slim, awful enter key.
Being Serbian, I find myself hitting Enter way too often instead of the 'ž' key (the \| cap) on the standard European keyboards. Additionally, the long Enter is uglier to me in comparison to the slim one.
been using my redragon mechanical keyboard and redragon mouse for a few years and still going strong. the red backlight is super easy to see at night.
I am getting the reddragon m601 and some random $60corsair keyboard it looks like the one in 8:00
1:58 "The keys are on the slippery side" It's cause you poured water one it
I can't believe how cheap mechanical boards have gotten.
5:48 I have that one! It’s pretty nice, the only thing I don’t really like about it is the slight sound of the spring
I hate that if youtubers show things it costs like for example 30 dollars, but for some reason if I look on the german amazon it costs 50 euros! euro's are even worth more!
Import tax?
THE OVERLORD OF THE WORLD yeah, then you pay us export taxes and like €40 for delivery
Aliexpress, man
The “exhale self embarrassment and anxiety” after yelling ONE! is a mood. 😂😂
"And the ONE!" 😂😂
ISO and ANSI layout (notably the shape of the Return-key) is mostly a matter of preference; I try to stick to layouts that I find elsewhere in my country. So ideally keyboard reviews would note if both versions are available of the same keyboard.
Maxs hands are like marmite, some hate, some like, no one is on the fence

Another funny 😂 one is the
Key that is on the left of 5%
It is 4$ so cheap

You forgot the HV KB-389L Keyboard and mouse combo, its a blue switch mechanical keyboard with a detachable wrist wrest, its made out of metal so its really sturdy, its waterproof, and comes with a 6k dpi mouse. The keyboard has about 14 Modes, and a good software, while the mouse also has a software, but not the best, it comes with 6 modes, but if you do have the software, you can unlock about 64 modes, with all the categories.
For 50$, it's the best purchase I've made.
3:19 more funny my favorite keys are the 5% key and the *_1!_*
What about the 4$ key
