Lol it's acceptable to add oil to water to ensure the pasta doesn't stick while it's in the boiling water.
Is Me olive oil is less dense than water and so it won’t actually do anything to prevent the pasta from sticking, its a myth that was born in the US or something because no one does it in Italy.
I’m not hating on Jennifer, I just found that part funny 😂
Adding olive oil to boiling pasta water actually prevents the water from boiling over, it's not meant to keep them from sticking together.
Sada Twinkletoes it actually does more harm than good, once you drain the pasta (or gnocchi in this case) it’ll leave a layer of oil on the gnocchi that will make it harder for the sauce to coat them evenly, I swear that italian chefs, or any Italian for that matter, never add olive oil to boiling water. (It’s just kinda useless overall unless it’s an oil based sauce, like aglio e olio)
I’m really not trying to contradict everyone, I’m Italian and I just can’t not answer the comments about this. I would hate to come off as rude !
@@micolcortellari9110 I'm sure you're right, I'm by no means a pasta expert or even Italian. I was just telling a fact, the oil does indeed at least try to keep it from boiling over. Which is not necessary at all, but it works. I don't know how it affects the pasta so I'm not going to argue about it.

DOn't forget the power of editing. They could have used a clip of Jennifer that happened before or way after Mary's judging in an unrelated context. Reality TV does this all the time to spice up the drama.

If Jennifer put yams, or just regular sweet potato I think it would have been fine. But then she would've had sweet gnocchi's and I guess that wasn't what she was going for. I only say yams cause a good pumpkin tends to teeter on the line of sweetness and I think I don't think it would have buried the flavor as much. But then again it would have been smarter with no potato so 🤷
But this is how people learn sometimes we overestimate ourselves so these reality check is important.Jennifer would have learnt something.

guys, word of advice. If you're absolutely crunched for time, don't be afraid to use canned pumpkin, as long as it is pumpkin and not pie filling. The canned stuff is actually quite good and it is especially good for baking since there's not as much moisture in it

Arcaryon it’s weird though because the judge had it then dropped it, which made no sense to me, I was like “what?” Anyways, I don’t think people can eat eggplant correctly.
The judges didn't even talk about their plate presentation and creativity, they all looked excellent. Would give them all a 10/10. For presentation

For those wondering: the bottom dishes were April lees (you saw why), Jennifers (you also saw why), and Michelle's. April & Jennifer were saved & Michelle was sent home because her dish had way too many Ingredients & overpowered the pumpkin, resulting in her elimination.
The problem of being a masterchef judge is that when you have team challenges to cook in your restaurant you could lose those stars on Yelp and that michelin star inspector will not be happy.
