    When scenting a jig go for water soluble scents, doesnt effect the fur on the jig like gels or oils do. And dont be discouraged not seeing a fish roll. Most of the time steelhead dont really roll like salmon will. And fishing highwater like that try bigger, brighter presentations. That nightmare jig is more for clearwater like the local said. Goodluck man!

    on my moms pc rn so but yeah where baits allowed shrimp the jig for those steelhead. also they run up along the banks so constant casting out could be you casting over and swinging it around during the drift. fish of a thousand casts so don't get discouraged . Side note I rock 3 poles. 1 lure,1 bobber, and 1 bottom bouncing pole with either pencil weights or slinky weights to prevent snagging up so much. I've watched lunkers swim by my feet as I casted over them. also have had many fish just not interested... dexter dam just outside of eugene is a spot you can steelhead fish year round cause they get cutoff from the spawning grounds and there's also a hatchery across the way just a thought since your spending time and money in effort for one.

    That bobber drained so long before you realized it! That's what I love about winter fishing: it only takes 1 cast, and you never know when that bite may come!!!

      Right! I thought it was a snag at first because of how shallow I was fishing 😂

    Bloody tunas usually really good for fall Chinook. Imo, steelhead prefer shrimp/krill scents the most. Tight lines

    You should put some small coon shrimp on the jig or you can get like one of those scents for the jig both work really well

    Don’t forget to fish close med far, when water is high fish will hug the banks more staying just on the edge of the fast water

    Hey man I just moved to Portland.. I'm curious if you could point me to a good spot for steelhead or trout? Any tips would be great.. thanks!

    • @OregonReelFishing
      @OregonReelFishing  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any coastal river will hold steelhead! From Portland the Wilson, trask, and nestucca rivers are within about an hour or so and have good bank access. As far as trout, check out the lakes in the Mt hood area in the summertime when there's less snow. Good luck!

      @@OregonReelFishing I think we're going to hit the Wilson and maybe some creeks that come off of it tomorrow. Thanks for the tips!

      @@emiliobooker8956 no problem! If you hit the Wilson I would recommend fishing lower on the river, that's where most of the action had been
