Drove my 911 into a River // Targa 805 Rally

  • I drove the 805 Targa Rally with my dad again this year. Tom, Kurht, and Carlu joined us and we had a fun little adventure after the rally finished.
I was hesitant to drive my 1972 Porsche 911 on this rally just because the car was recently painted and it's pretty nice..Ultimately decided to just start using the car instead of staring at it in my garage. My 1988 911 Carrera has always been the car I drive on road trips/rallies. New paint is the main reason I haven't driven the olive car on a rally..and its been in the process of a restoration since I bought it a couple years ago.
The rally route was amazing and the group of people that drove were awesome. We headed home, and ran into this large flooded area of the road. We checked the depth of the water and decided to go for it. I was definitely nervous. Glad I went for it. I dried a few areas really good and used compressed air when I got home. Such a fun time.
Hope you guys enjoy this video. I had a lot fun with these guys. Looking forward to the next one.

Dad must to be proud. I can imagine him bragging about this day, with the other oldtimers: "My kid is into porsches, he's even got some in his garage. The other day we have crossed a river with one of those..."😂😂😂

Great video, I was a little stressed about your river crossing ( I think they call it sympathy pain ) but how cool that you and your dad had a good time together in the area that I have called home for 32 years now, I live about 3 blocks north of Jocko’s and when the wind is blowing north I can smell the bbq pit ( on any given weekend everyone is cooking over red oak in their backyard it’s amazing). I am the fleet mechanic at Edna’s bakery that supplies just about all the restaurants and hotels on the central coast so I find myself driving those very roads that you guys were on,I consider myself very lucky to live in such a beautiful area. The only problem I had with the video was that it made me miss my Dad ,we would drive the backroads in his 280zx or my 72 240z. Again thanks for another great video. Take care🥩👍🏽

John! We ate at Jocko’s because of your recommendation. Thanks for that it was great! My dad ate about 1/4 of his 20 OZ filet. Carlu finished it no problem. Beautiful area, you are lucky. You’ve got the memories with you pop tho! Thanks for the support

Looks like an awesome time. Always fun to have those memories with our dads.
I remember your buddy Kurht was going to do Peking to Paris a few years ago. Think I remember some pics of an old 912. Always thought that would be an amazing experience.
You should do an interview with him. Would love to hear about it. Imagine there would be some great stories. 👍

There wasn’t any mud under there it was a paved road. We drove 90mph for 3 hours home after this. Bone dry everywhere. Thansk
