@@RDUFFAL Even some of the old school dubs aren't that bad (Sometimes they just sound weird because voice acting might miss the tone of the scene and the script is oddly translated, but you don't notice it in the original voice because it's not your native tongue so some weird pronunciations or inflections don't sound "wrong")

All the VAs seem to have brought their best here and it didn't have any moments of Anime overacting that can always feel cringy. I would compare it to the FMA or Bebop dubs. But if you want a loli baba Frieren, then you are better off sticking to the subs. If you get used to a character's voice it is hard to change it without feeling some uncanny valley. Like I cannot imagine Solid Snake as anything other than David Hatry, but some people like the Japanese VA; or similarly Spike , or Mustang; but if you are used to something else, meh. I generally prefer dubs when the setting is western or medieval fantasy.
One of the tropes of fantasy is the human villain that tries to cheat death and be immortal, usually elfs are depicted has distant and aloof if not feeling disdain for humans, but I'm surprised than in settings where they are more friendly, there aren't elfs looking to extend the life of other beings.
i imagine its like with pets, it doesn't matter that your dog or cat is a 17 year old methuselah with gray around their snout they're still your baby. (not that i think frieren considers them pets.)

Yeah Frieren dub is pretty good because they are allowed to have normal dialogue. IDK if you noticed, but most anime have rly bizzare dialogue and unnatural dialogue . A good example of this that I saw recently is Jujutsu Kaisen 0. There is a scene in which Gojo(the sensei if you will) introduced a new student to a group of 3 and says that they will pair up and matches 2 of them then after matching 2 he matches the other 2 and when he does that the girl that got matched with the newcomer said something along the lines of "what a pain" or wathever anime characters say when they are annoyed. The problem with this dialogue is that the girl should have known who she was paired the moment Gojo did the first matchup because.....they are.....just 4 for God's sake.(They chose to do that for that annoyed reaction which happens a lot in JJK where characters react in bizzare ways just because its an anime, many times there isn't even any reason to react at all.
@@shadowpriest2574those reactions work well in japanese because they are already tropes. They do not translate well to english because there is no equivalent to the quips they do in japanese anime and movies. Frieren on the other hand rarely does them, choosing to do subtle jokes or visual gags.

There are still a few still not liking the dub. Regardless, these voice are fine.
Both are good. I've learned over the years to pay more attention to the inflection and emotions in acting rather than the pitch of their vocal cords.
