Thus all mimics can, going back far enough, remember the exact same moment of their creation as a species. They all thus share the same unified language. And while mimics operate largely as beasts, some go out of their way to never divide until they have enough mass to remain sapient and sentient after the process.

Are you sure your wife is not a mimic? Be careful where you detect good and evil. Course, that would take a lot of work on the part of the mimic colony.
