This video helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!! I have wanted one of these for sooo long... I finally got it and for the life of me I cold not figure out how to set it up.... the instructions were basically useless!!! I'm a very visual learner!! I had it for 5 days before setting it up and I came across this video... using it now and it's great but the only thing about it I don't like (I got the Litter Genie Plus) is the hole where you dump the waste is a little to small (not wide enough).... do they make one where the hole is a little bitter? I have 3 cats... I will keep this one and get another one if they have one where the hole is just a little bigger!

I HAD to buy a Litter Genie this afternoon. During my work break (10am), I scooped the litterbox and put the refuse in the lidded metal waste basket. Then I almost lost my breakfast (literally!). The inside of the lid was crawling with maggots. I quickly double bagged everything, called my supervisor telling him what happened and I’d be late coming back from break. He understood (he’s got cats). I schlepped the garbage bag to the trash (the end of the block). I couldn’t wait till I could get in the shower! Thank you for such a concise, specific upload. I actually go almost 2 weeks before emptying mine and since I’ve only done it once I had forgotten how to empty it. I absolutely love it and I have the same model that you are showing here in this video. The $20 has absolutely been well spent so far. Yes, the locking of the tabs isn’t very precise, but it really really really holds back odor. Thank you for the idea of using a command hook to use the preferred litter scoop. The one that comes with this litter, genie is rather flimsy, but I like the way it was easy to attach on either side since I prefer mine on the left. Maybe I’ll use a command hook to use my stronger scoop instead. Appreciate your ideas and I am a new subscriber now!

I got frustrated with Litter Genie's written instructions, and their TH-cam video was not at all helpful. No one said "tie the bag," which may seem obvious, but don't call something a bag, implying it already is one, making the user ask if they did something wrong or got a defective product. So thankful Floppycat took the time to explain this so well.

HOLY CRAP!! THANK YOU so much for your video! It was absolutely PERFECTLY EXPLAINED! The Litter Genie company should hire you to do their instruction videos! Seriously! The folded up instruction piece of paper that came with the Genie was literally the worst instructions I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I’m usually pretty good at putting stuff together, but this one was for-the-birds, just a bit challenging w/o proper instructions. The Genie is completely plain & there’s no direction arrows or any markings anywhere on the Genie itself. Or at least mine doesn’t - maybe I received a defective one!? nonetheless, you killed it with your instruction video! Great job! Very easy to follow with your instructions!!! Thank you again!!!

Omg, a neighbor asked me to cat sit and I just spent 20 minutes in their place trying to figure out how to change this trash. I pulled several feet out before realizing it was continuous. Thanks for making this video. I recently had to switch from my original litter lock because the refills are apparently no longer available. For some reason I expected that pulling the handle on this litter genie would automatically pull out more plastic like turning the crank on the old litter locker would do. One comment - if you just hang the scoop on the outside, any of the litter that sticks to the scoop will end up on the floor when it eventually falls off. The scoop holder, on the other hand, will capture these crumbs and can be dump out every so often. So another nice feature of the original litter locker was that it was so much easier to pull out the scoop holder for dumping.
which litter locker do you have? these might fit - they fit my Design PLus from Litter Locker - floppycats.co/FirikRefills - very true on the litter scoop and holder situation! i will happily deal with that for the triangular tines. I really detest other scoops!
@@Floppycats Thanks for that suggestion. Unfortunately I did not have the forethought to save an empty cartridge. Even so, I'm not sure how one would reload the cartridge. However, the page led me to the possibility that Diaper Genie refills might work.

Thanks for this! I just got my Litter Genie Plus today, and am excited about no longer having the odor in my small, carpeted room that gets very hot on the second floor of an old Florida house! It will also be great not to have to buy the small poop bags and make several trips to the trash cart in the garage (which gets super smelly in there, where there's no A/C!). Great product and concept...similar to the diaper genie which I'm sure the idea came from. I have a life hack that works just as well: you could just buy a regular tall/slim trash can with an auto or manual lid, some tall trash bags and everytime you dump, tie a knot in the bag, leaving the remaining bag open. At the end of this cycle (when there's no more bag space left) you'll basically end up with a "poop rope" that you can just toss in your main garbage. This will save you from buying refill cartridges. I've been doing this for years with diapers, animal poop and "other" sanitary waste items. To control smell, along with scented trash bags, you could place popotpourri sachets bags, scented laundry beads, carpet fresher, dryer sheets, stick ups basically anything scented directly in the bottom or anywhere inside the trash can.

This is a super awesome and clear video, I’m getting my cat tomorrow and was having trouble with the included instructions as the picture were hard to discern what was actually happening
I just use a bucket with a handle and grocery store plastic bags. When it’s full I tie it off and dump in the garbage can in my garage. No smell because it goes right to the garage. I have two 18 year old girls so they pee a lot. Lol 😆. This works well for me as I don’t have to have great aim in getting the scoop in the larger opening of the bucket.

I just use a Tidy Cats litter bucket thats already emptied to dump my litter I use 5gal trash bags to scoop litter in then just put it in the bucket and close the lid no smell in my one bedroom apartment.

ah ha but what to do now that the big plastic pail has been replaced by a big ugly box!! I just got back from PetSmart and was told some cockamamie story that made no sense about why the transition took place but sensing I was powerless to change the shift I came home with Litter Genie instead.
Yeah, i used to do that too, but then I realized the more expensive cardboard box litter seems to be way better. Wish I’d saved a few those tidy cat buckets, way better than this piece of crap. After I use up the liners for this, I’ll probably throw it in the trash and buy a tidy cat litter in the bucket and use that again.
I've had this for about 3 years now, and love it. When I push the plastic bag down in, I make sure it's well down and ready to hold as much as possible. I use the Breeze pellet system which I only need to change the pad of every 8 or 9 days and instead of a poop scoop I use biodegradable bags to pick up the poop and put in the litter genie. No risk of dropping bits.

@@or1946 unfortunately, it's a subjective answer - sometimes I use a full bag (length of Litter Genie) and sometimes only half - depending on which litter box station my cats are using. I think I change out a cartridge every month or every 6 weeks - but again, my cats' sizes, diet, ages, etc. all play a part in that, so there's no way to tell you what happens for me will happen for you.

This video helped me TREMENDOUSLY!!! I have wanted one of these for sooo long... I finally got it and for the life of me I cold not figure out how to set it up.... the instructions were basically useless!!! I'm a very visual learner!! I had it for 5 days before setting it up and I came across this video... using it now and it's great but the only thing about it I don't like (I got the Litter Genie Plus) is the hole where you dump the waste is a little to small (not wide enough).... do they make one where the hole is a little bitter? I have 3 cats... I will keep this one and get another one if they have one where the hole is just a little bigger!
Look...I broke the refill before I could even start the video. 5 minutes later, it’s fixed; 5 minutes after that, I’m done! The instructions in the box are horrible. Thank you💛!

I HAD to buy a Litter Genie this afternoon. During my work break (10am), I scooped the litterbox and put the refuse in the lidded metal waste basket. Then I almost lost my breakfast (literally!). The inside of the lid was crawling with maggots. I quickly double bagged everything, called my supervisor telling him what happened and I’d be late coming back from break. He understood (he’s got cats). I schlepped the garbage bag to the trash (the end of the block). I couldn’t wait till I could get in the shower!
So I went to PetSmart and got the Litter Genie ($14 w/$10 discount).

Thank you for such a concise, specific upload. I actually go almost 2 weeks before emptying mine and since I’ve only done it once I had forgotten how to empty it. I absolutely love it and I have the same model that you are showing here in this video. The $20 has absolutely been well spent so far. Yes, the locking of the tabs isn’t very precise, but it really really really holds back odor.
Thank you for the idea of using a command hook to use the preferred litter scoop. The one that comes with this litter, genie is rather flimsy, but I like the way it was easy to attach on either side since I prefer mine on the left. Maybe I’ll use a command hook to use my stronger scoop instead. Appreciate your ideas and I am a new subscriber now!

I got frustrated with Litter Genie's written instructions, and their TH-cam video was not at all helpful. No one said "tie the bag," which may seem obvious, but don't call something a bag, implying it already is one, making the user ask if they did something wrong or got a defective product. So thankful Floppycat took the time to explain this so well.

HOLY CRAP!! THANK YOU so much for your video! It was absolutely PERFECTLY EXPLAINED! The Litter Genie company should hire you to do their instruction videos! Seriously! The folded up instruction piece of paper that came with the Genie was literally the worst instructions I’ve ever seen in my entire life. I’m usually pretty good at putting stuff together, but this one was for-the-birds, just a bit challenging w/o proper instructions. The Genie is completely plain & there’s no direction arrows or any markings anywhere on the Genie itself. Or at least mine doesn’t - maybe I received a defective one!? nonetheless, you killed it with your instruction video! Great job! Very easy to follow with your instructions!!! Thank you again!!!

Thanks for making this video. I recently had to switch from my original litter lock because the refills are apparently no longer available. For some reason I expected that pulling the handle on this litter genie would automatically pull out more plastic like turning the crank on the old litter locker would do.
One comment - if you just hang the scoop on the outside, any of the litter that sticks to the scoop will end up on the floor when it eventually falls off. The scoop holder, on the other hand, will capture these crumbs and can be dump out every so often. So another nice feature of the original litter locker was that it was so much easier to pull out the scoop holder for dumping.
which litter locker do you have? these might fit - they fit my Design PLus from Litter Locker - floppycats.co/FirikRefills - very true on the litter scoop and holder situation! i will happily deal with that for the triangular tines. I really detest other scoops!

Thanks for this! I just got my Litter Genie Plus today, and am excited about no longer having the odor in my small, carpeted room that gets very hot on the second floor of an old Florida house! It will also be great not to have to buy the small poop bags and make several trips to the trash cart in the garage (which gets super smelly in there, where there's no A/C!). I think my roomie will appreciate it, too. Your video was very helpful as I was setting it up and trying to make sure I put the scoop holder on correctly!

Great product and concept...similar to the diaper genie which I'm sure the idea came from. I have a life hack that works just as well: you could just buy a regular tall/slim trash can with an auto or manual lid, some tall trash bags and everytime you dump, tie a knot in the bag, leaving the remaining bag open. At the end of this cycle (when there's no more bag space left) you'll basically end up with a "poop rope" that you can just toss in your main garbage. This will save you from buying refill cartridges. I've been doing this for years with diapers, animal poop and "other" sanitary waste items. To control smell, along with scented trash bags, you could place popotpourri sachets bags, scented laundry beads, carpet fresher, dryer sheets, stick ups basically anything scented directly in the bottom or anywhere inside the trash can.

I just use a bucket with a handle and grocery store plastic bags. When it’s full I tie it off and dump in the garbage can in my garage. No smell because it goes right to the garage. I have two 18 year old girls so they pee a lot. Lol 😆. This works well for me as I don’t have to have great aim in getting the scoop in the larger opening of the bucket.

Just got this today. My wife ordered it last night and it got at the store this morning. Its easy setup. I just forgot about removing that plastic tab strip thing. My lid wouldn't close. Its now all good. Thanks for the video. New subscriber here. I know this was four years ago.

I just use a Tidy Cats litter bucket thats already emptied to dump my litter I use 5gal trash bags to scoop litter in then just put it in the bucket and close the lid no smell in my one bedroom apartment.

ah ha but what to do now that the big plastic pail has been replaced by a big ugly box!! I just got back from PetSmart and was told some cockamamie story that made no sense about why the transition took place but sensing I was powerless to change the shift I came home with Litter Genie instead.
Yeah, i used to do that too, but then I realized the more expensive cardboard box litter seems to be way better. Wish I’d saved a few those tidy cat buckets, way better than this piece of crap. After I use up the liners for this, I’ll probably throw it in the trash and buy a tidy cat litter in the bucket and use that again.
I've had this for about 3 years now, and love it. When I push the plastic bag down in, I make sure it's well down and ready to hold as much as possible. I use the Breeze pellet system which I only need to change the pad of every 8 or 9 days and instead of a poop scoop I use biodegradable bags to pick up the poop and put in the litter genie. No risk of dropping bits.

@@or1946 unfortunately, it's a subjective answer - sometimes I use a full bag (length of Litter Genie) and sometimes only half - depending on which litter box station my cats are using. I think I change out a cartridge every month or every 6 weeks - but again, my cats' sizes, diet, ages, etc. all play a part in that, so there's no way to tell you what happens for me will happen for you.
Thank you!!! I had to refill the bags for the first time today and I could not figure out how to get the top funnel part off for the life of me until I saw you do it in a second flat! It figures that I cut my nails for the first time in a while yesterday lol! I ended up jamming some scissors in there to pop the little latch in front and from there it was smooth sailing!
