You are right! The children should see that conflict is part of relationships. Hiding the arguments and conflict from children gives the impression that conflict is a bad thing and it programs them to run from conflict every time it happens especially in adulthood relationships. They grow up with attachment issues. The children should see that there is conflict and learn to sit down and solve it. The conflict is not the issue, the issue is how you handle the conflict.
At minute 7:50, Dr. Beam provided such a great nugget of wisdom in saying that most folks are more interested in you knowing the "why" of wanting something...my paraphrase does not do it justice. God knows I am guilty of glossing over that truth....thank you for a great video on how to "fight fairly"!
I lost a wonderful woman because both of us were conflict avoidant and she had several issues that she felt had been ignored for too long. I am wanting to learn how to better communicate if there are online courses available.
