You can open third party apps with the button or even any home devices. Just use the remote microphone to open TH-cam for example. Then after that go to the settings to set up the button and will see your move recent commands. Just select the TH-cam one. Works for anything.

Nothing worse then streaming and accidentally hitting the home button I can imagine the pain this amount of buttons will cause.
Hi Adam,just got myself a cube today. I've still got my 4k max stick. I did a comparison test between the two. The cube picture is definitely a lot better. On saying that it should be with the reflection on the price. I don't think the pro remote is worth the money for what it does.
The fact that you cannot add third party apps on the quick keys is a killer for me - no way ill get it now
It's a nicely designed remote and the find option looks useful, but without the ability to set third-party apps to those shortcut keys it's not worth going for I don't think. If they changed that I'd think about picking one up.
If you mean buttons 1 & 2 and all you want to do is launch an app, just set them to voice commands.
Try before you buy. Does the TVs Alexa understand "launch Freevee" with no issue? If so, your button shortcut will work.
Set up buttons 1 & 2 for voice commands. The standard integration with IFTTT is saying "trigger such & such" to start an applet. I've verified this works just fine with the two buttons, therefore you can make them do anything that IFTTT does. I've been using them as lightswitches.

Delivered on January 20 and I had to replace the batteries today! 33 DAY BATTERY LIFE???? Fortunately the battery cover is much easier to remove than my old remote, which had a battery life of nearly a YEAR! if you want to use the "find my remote" function, you must have an Echo device. The Fire TV Cube (3rd Gen) will only find videos on TH-cam about this remote. What's needed is a charging port and the ability to use the "find n

Great video, purchased this remote with Firecube Gen 3 as a bundle from Amazon, it connects as a basic remote only, not as remote Pro, therefore you cannot use the customised buttons at all? If someone has a work around that would be great, however in the forums seems I am not the only person to suffer this. Remote works fine with Firestick 4k max though. Any help would be great :)

Hi Adam, I’m in the UK like you, but where you have an ‘apps’ button on the bottom left, I have a Disney+ button. My handset was bought from Amazon UK.!!🤷♂
How do u setup the shortcut buttons I got a fire tv cube and when I press the buttons nothing pops up to add a shortcut and thr the headphone button at top right don't do nothing either
I got me of these remotes and love the programable buttons.
I have 3 of the bottom buttons that can be reprogrammed along with the #1 & 2 buttons gives me 5, which I use all the time.
I don’t see the remote finder as a great advantage for me, because I always pit my remote away in a pocket in my recliner.
The Bluetooth headset button is great.
There are many times that I start watching something and due to noise in the house I can’t hear it so I had to cloabtge app I was watching, go into the Bluetooth settings and connect my AirPod Pros, which was a pain.
The backlight is nice, but I tend to memorize the layout of the remote so I don’t use it that much.
I think it’s with the money.
I wonder how much money Amazon is saving by not putting the buttons that are on the remote on the box it is in. I mean how many different button variations are there? I have the the one that I want which has disney plus and hulu but I also got one with direct tv and peacock and here I see apps and amazon music. I really would like to know how many returns they are getting for these.
I was able to train the FS remote to learn codes front to front. I was able to send codes with my Emotiva remote direct to the FS remote but I lost where to find this feature in the settings! Please tell me where it is?

1:45 Aw! I'd sorta rather have the apps access button than Hulu, though I assume it's all button mappable.
I use my Sony bravia remote, does most of the things I use the 4k stick for.

I got two of these and ita not working properly with my fire tv. First it won't pair with the TV. Then the voice control doesn't work when I click the settings it brings up the menu and the customisable apps open the Alexa voice. So I can get it to work
The price is not bad considering the last gen replacements are just $5 cheaper.
My second favorite Scottsman (sorry, Sean Connery is always be my #1) in all seriousness, I agree that remote should have been packed in with the Fire tv cube (3rd gen).

$35 here in the U.S. is a bit much, but at $25, everyone would be all over it. Nonetheless, I bit the bullet thinking there were enough decent features even at that price. You didn't mention the scroll bar on the right that can be handy in an eyepee service. In addition, I have the Disney+ button already mapped for use and using the app called App Opener, I can make use of one of the new buttons (1 or 2) for a side-loaded app. I'm also hoping Amazon will come to their senses and allow side-loaded apps to be programmed on 1 or 2, but I'm not holding my breath. (It's a little bigger than the 2nd gen cube)
Like the backlight feature on it , but needs to drop in price to make me buy it.

I probably would buy it because I love gadgets but price wise I do not think it has enough features to warrant the £35 price tag. But as I see myself as James Bond I probably will buy a couple for my current set up.
Can you open a third-party app with a voice command, and if so you could program one of the buttons to execute that voice command.

Lost my fire tv remote that came with the tv...! I managed to get an analogue remote for my tv and it worked fine....but when I done factory reset to my tv, the analogue remote won't pair when I press home button..

In AUS it's $59 .. atm the FireStck 4K Max is $49 ... it doesn;t make sense that a remote costs more than the product ... why don;t they just allow you to buy it as an option when you buy the device

The only good features I can see after watching your channel is the FIND feature and the LIGHT UP KEYPAD which I thought was a nice touch.
Would I buy one? Not until I lost the old one or it broke, then I possibly would.

The bottom Netflix, Hulu, whatever buttons probably are reprogrammable. This has been true for other Fire remotes. If you do NOT have the app the button is meant to control, you can reassign the button to an app you DO have. For example, I don't have Netflix so I reprogrammed my Netflix button to open TH-cam. There are websites that explain how to do it and the process involves typing linux command line stuff using the remote character hunt and peck. Not for the impatient. But it works.

To be honest - I'm not struck. It's a money maker, the build and features cost pence to implement. OK, back lit LED , small transducer for the find me audio, revised and reflashed processor and a bit of a retool for the case, most likely not more than 50p tops, as you say Adam you can buy an all in Firestick for less. You wait, come sale time they'll be throwing it in like they do.

Amazon are getting cheaky with their latest devices.
Only a few extra features at way too high prices.
This is why i have not bought the latest cube, it should have come with this remote,
and not requiring us to pay extra for it.
Sooner or later they will be on a half price deal, until then they are not worth upgrading to.
Just to wind any Amazon cube fans up, i have just bought the latest Apple 4K box with ethernet,
all i can say that it is a far better device than the cube.
Back lit worth its weight in gold and program 1 and 2 for tivimate and syncler again worth its weight in gold will see what prime day brings I will bite on a cube 3rd gen and pro remote if price is right
Do you, or anyone else that may happen to read this, know of a Firestick APP that actually has a WORKING, PLAYABLE, collection of the Ren and Stimpy show? I've found APPS that have the seasons listed but none of them play.

My back light is very temperamental
I won't be buying one, for these reasons, which apply to me, others may have different circumstances and find the features useful. The backlight: I always have some light on in the room with my TV (as recommended), so useless and it will run the batteries down much quicker. Find my remote: I don't have kids or pets, so I don't lose the remote. Sponsored buttons: no thanks, I never and will never use NetFlix, or Amazon music (on the TV) and although I do watch Amazon Prime, there are three or four apps I use more often and I can find all of them quite easily using the dashboard.
I like the minimalistic remote that came with my Cube gen2, I can find all the buttons I need without looking and it has all the buttons I need. If I buy a Cube gen3 at some point in the future, I will ditch the remote that comes with it and carry on using the gen 2.
