Fabulous first video,Cathy and Molly have recommended watching your video,so pleased I did, love Eliza Smyth👏 and all your stitching goodness,Thankyou for sharing ❤️👍🪡🇳🇿
How nice to meet you, Birgit! I am so amazed and a bit jealous that you got to learn cross stitch at such an early age - in school, no less! I've been stitching and sewing since I was 8 thanks to a grandmother who was a men's tailor. After making quilts and clothing, embroidering many things, I took up cross stitch at the ripe "old" age of 70 in 2020. Talk about falling down the rabbit hole! I have two of your patterns kitted up and hope to start them soon. Your floss tube is delightful, and I look forward to seeing more of you! Hugs, Candace
So nice to meet you Candace! I went through a quilting phase but never achieved success there - I could never master the machine. My first quilts were all hand-pieced.
Loved all your stitching. They are so beautiful. It shows that you’ve been stitching for years and your work is so lovely. Thank you for showing us up close to see the stitches. Too bad the 10 k views had 😊subscribed. That would’ve been great.
Thank you so much! Yea that would have been fantastic, but for me it's really about sharing and getting to talk to like minded people. Needle art folks are a special crowd. If we ruled the world it would be a happy place all over! 😁
Loved your flosstube video ad can't wait for Eliza Jane Smyth! She's a beauty. That flower border and the pale blue alphabet...wow! Looking forward to learning from you. I went right out and found the book, The Proper Stitch, and purchased it! Your stitching is amazing! Thank you for sharing.
Hi there! I really enjoyed your video! You have stitched some gorgeous pieces! I am envious that your school had needlework as a requirement! How wonderful that would have been!!! Thank you so much for sharing!
I am so happy I happened upon your first Flosstube, Birgit! I am currently on the last row of Elizabeth Hall 1809. I love her!! I’m a monogamous stitcher, so it takes me some time to finish a sampler, and I usually only buy a pattern when I’m ready to start a new project, but I’ve purchased a couple of your patterns ahead of schedule because I loved them so much! So glad to see you on Flosstube!
So enjoyed this your first video Birgit ! Nice to learn more about you, greetings from northern MN 👋. Please keep them coming fabulous stitching..love your designs ..enjoyed seeing your haul fabric choices are wonderful 🥰 Looking forward to release of new sampler such a beauty 🤩…take good care see you next time, 🤗♥️🪡
Hi Birgit! I loved seeing all of your beautiful work. I about fell out of my chair when you showed the Shepherd’s Bush round robin. I was in that round robin, too. Dilys stitched a band on mine, too! I only knew 3 of the people who stitched on mine. What a small world. Darlene O’Steen is my favorite designer, too. Thank you for making FTs-now I get to watch your #2. ❤
Thank you so much! OMG, that is something else! Stitchers have an invisible connection throughout the world. I am certain of it. Thank you so very much for being here and I do remember you from my FB! So9 glad to have you *hugs*
Great first video! Eliza Smith is gorgeous! I could just pre order her now too! ❤❤😂😂❤❤. Lol. Can’t wait until she s released. Looking forward to seeing more from you.
Nice to meet you, Birgit! You have a lovely collection of things in this video and I’m looking forward to seeing more. I do videos also, and can I recommend you get a ring light or photography lamp for when you show your stitching? I’m by no means someone who knows what they’re doing, but I do think more light would make it easier for you to represent the colors in your work and in the antiques. Otherwise I enjoyed this first video very much and I like getting to see close-ups of the stitching! I have a Wishing Thorn design in my WIP pile that I will try to work on soon, now that you are making videos. Thanks for sharing your talents with us, and happy stitching! -Leah Noel
Congratulations on your first Flosstube, Birgit! You did a great job! It was like a walk down memory lane for me. I have several Emie Bishop pieces that I’ve done and I also have a Shepherd’s Bush round robin sampler. Those early days of connecting online with other stitchers were so exciting. I so wish you were staying in CT and starting the needlework shop you had planned. That would have been wonderful! I live in CT also, only about an hour from you. The new release you’re working on is so pretty. You choose lovely designs to reproduce. Thank you!
Thank you! 😍 While I adore the countryside of CT, I do not adore the cost of living/ taxes. Our kids are all out west so there is little to keep us here.
@@thewishingthorn Yes, CT is an expensive place to live. I grew up in Hartford. I’m in the suburbs now and all my kids and grandkids are local, so I’m staying put. I’m thankful for a wonderful online stitching community where I can stay in touch with other stitchers and fabulous designers. ❤️
Happy to find your channel! I'm a stitcher from the 80's before the explosion of the internet, so a lot of the stitching you showed was very familiar to me. I did a lot of the hardanger and pulled work. Also stitched lots of models through the 90's for Leisure Arts. So exciting to see you unwrap the antique samplers. Keep the videos coming!
I am so glad I found your Flosstube. Kathy is one of your best "cheerleaders" and she was spot on. I look forward to following you on this stitching journey.
Hello Birgit. I was so glad to find this channel since I love Wishing Thorn patterns. Your unidentified WIP sampler is called Mary Crisp and she was in SANQ magazine. I too have this one started but not much further along than yours. I recognized her straight away. I stitched Little Bunny Shepherd at the first part of the year, but still am not settled on the berry tip colors. I went more pink for contrast against my linen, but I don't know if I like it that way. Still mulling it over.
Wonderful! Mulling over it is always good. Sometimes walking away and looking at it the next day, or tape it briefly where you might want to hang it and see if it lends with it's surroundings. So glad you came! 🥰
Thank you. I recently found you and am really enjoying all the history. You do beautiful work. My ancestors are from Germany so I am finding this fascinating. Margie/Tennessee
I’m thrilled to see your first floss tube. I have a few of your beautiful patterns and love stitching them. I enjoy reading your blogs. The story of The Wishing Thorn is fascinating. Thanks Birgit for sharing ❤
That antique photo is amazing! The recent history of Germany and we immigrants breaks my heart. I try very hard to be proud of my German heritage, though. A couple of my grands earned a Purple Heart. I don’t really agree with their beliefs and the reason it was earned, however, I am encouraged to know that we all will learn from the history❤
You should be proud. My Grandfather was an officer and not by choice. He was always very protective of his soldiers and never was happy with the wars. He always said that he and his men would never have made it out of Russia and would have starved to death if it wasn't for kindness the Russian people. We can not let the politicians define who we are as humans - then and now. I mean look at what is going on in this country. If you look for ugliness you will find it everywhere in the world no matter the country. I chose goodness & kindness always.🥰 I have not watched ANY news since 2016. If something is important enough for me to know I'll hear about it, otherwise those publicity seeking news stations can do without me 🤣
@@thewishingthorn so true! I don’t remember the last time I watched “the news”. It’s always biased, depressing and inflammatory. We share the same outlook❤️
I absolutely LOVED your first Flosstube! You are so pleasing to listen to and I love how you showed your work up close. Makes me realize how we hardly ever, if at all, see others work in detail. Please continue to do this!
New subscriber and I LOVED your video. I learned how to stitch when I was 10 years old back in the late 80s/early 90s from my grandmother who was a master needleworker, so your video was quite the trip down memory lane with the pink and greens, Shepherd Bush, flower threads, and early internet cross stitch chatting. I remember back in high school being active on an AOL message board that had Deb from Stitches 'N Things and a designer from Heaven and Earth Designs. Wonderful days. :) Absolutely love all your patterns. Can't wait to watch your future videos.
Oh wow! That is so cool 😍 Fiona is probably one of the most stitched reproductions. I just had a lady message me last night with her very unusual finish. I hope she will allow me to share!
I enjoyed our visit today. Looking forward to your next video. I too have WIPs from the 80's and 90's. You have inspired me to look them up and maybe return to them. I was doing samplers during that time too.
This was a great video! I loved seeing your gorgeous samplers, wips, and fabric. I had the privilege of taking a class from Darlene O'Steen in the early 90's and I'm very proud of that completed sampler. I have her book too. I'm looking forward to your next video!
Hallo Birgit.

I feel so lucky to have come across your work! I had not heard of your designs. I’m in awe! I need to pick one to do! I love the new one you’re working on finishing designing now.
Thank you for sharing your early works - such beautiful stitching. I am looking forward to your next release. I think the faded colours from the front of the sampler are lovely and the mix of silk and wool gives a wonderful point of textural interest on the work.
Thank you Denise, I love the muted front too, the only thing that bothered me was how faded that upper alphabet was - barely noticeable. The find of that lovely pale blue really helped!
What a beautiful showcase of your work! Stunning! I am really interested in the upcoming chart… can’t wait for it! Sorry you lost sound at the end but dont lose heart. I will be watching for your next video
So good to meet you Birgit. I wanted to tell you my Harriet Charlesworth is so much fun to work on, I just love it. Your collection of fabrics are amazing! I will definitely be on the lookout for Eliza Jane Smith, I think the colors are elegant. Thank you for sharing your work on TH-cam!
So happy you are on flosstube, great first show. I’m stitching The Wheel of the Year sampler and have Night Thistle Sampler kitted up. Your patterns are the best! Lovely to see your stitching and look forward to seeing more.
Loved your video. The sound went out at the end so we couldn’t hear about the Beautiful Sampler behind hanging behind you. I hope you do a close up of it soon!!! So I couldn’t hear what you said about it.
Beautiful Stitching. Welcome to the Flosstube Community! Do finish your early projects, they are so pretty and your stitches are really lovely. I subscribed and liked and am looking forward to more. Thank you for sharing!
What a wonderful first flosstube you did. Your projects and stitching are all beautiful and I especially loved the bell pull. I’m looking forward to your future videos and hope you will be able to get more time to stitch.
Congratulations on completing your first flosstube. After recently finding your stunning designs on Etsy it was a thrill to discover you’d dipped your toes into the flosstube world, and I was able to be there from the beginning. You did great and it will only get easier. Looking forward to what comes in the future.
Birgit, so glad to see you have a flosstube. I have ordered several charts anf pdf's from you. Its so funny seeing your early WIPs. I had a needlwork shop for 2 yrs in the mid 80's but quit stitching in the early 90's. I started back stitching last year so have been digging old stuff from my attic. I was amazed at how many WIPs I had. Have Darlene's book and have had classes with Eileen Bennett at Rockhome Gardens in IL among others. Enjoyed memory lane and your great video. Scarlett
Welcome to Flosstube. I love your sampler charts. I too learned needlework since first grade with the Belgian ICM nuns who ran our Catholic girls school. Eager for your next video.
I was so excited to see your flosstube this morning. Congratulations on your first one I love it!!!! I really enjoyed seeing your past and new stitching. Your patterns are beautiful. I didn’t think you needed to Apologizes for anything. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Glad to see you are on flosstube. I love all your designs!! Wish I could stitch faster. How long have you lived in your current home? I grew up in your area. Wish I had stitching classes in school. I would have loved it😊😊
Hi Birgit, so happy to see you joining flosstube, you did great for the first one. I already have five of your charts in my WIP pile and now I see there will soon be a sixth, Eliza Smith is just gorgeous, can’t wait.
Loved your first flosstube. I also love the cedar creek linen. The large rectangular sampler on the wall behind you is lovely. Will you show it in a future flosstube and will you be charting it?
At the time it was a nice relief from all the academic studies. I don't think they teach it any longer, kids these days would do things with the needles they shouldn't 😂
PS Everyone It's Cedar River linen, not cedar Creek 🤣 Leave it to me to botch the name!
I adore your first piece shown. It is gorgeous. Please finish it so we can marvel over its’ beauty!!
Thank you, I will

Thank you for sharing your early works - such beautiful stitching. I am looking forward to your next release. I think the faded colours from the front of the sampler are lovely and the mix of silk and wool gives a wonderful point of textural interest on the work.
Thank you Denise, I love the muted front too, the only thing that bothered me was how faded that upper alphabet was - barely noticeable. The find of that lovely pale blue really helped!
Love your work
Thank you so much 😀
I am so glad you joined us on the Tube! That bunny sampler is adorable.
Awe thank you!! It took me a long time to get up the nerve 🤣
@@thewishingthorn It’s harder than it looks, right!
@@mountaincraftsstudio totally, it's not just walk in and chat for sure 😆
What a beautiful showcase of your work! Stunning! I am really interested in the upcoming chart… can’t wait for it! Sorry you lost sound at the end but dont lose heart. I will be watching for your next video
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it! 😍
Congratulations on your 1st Floss Tube. I love antique samplers and yours are wonderful. Looking forward to seeing you more.
thank you! I need to pace myself and not have sampler overdose in one episode lol 🤣
So good to meet you Birgit. I wanted to tell you my Harriet Charlesworth is so much fun to work on, I just love it. Your collection of fabrics are amazing! I will definitely be on the lookout for Eliza Jane Smith, I think the colors are elegant. Thank you for sharing your work on TH-cam!
thank you! I really appreciate this. Eliza Jane is a very elegant lady.
So happy you are on flosstube, great first show. I’m stitching The Wheel of the Year sampler and have Night Thistle Sampler kitted up. Your patterns are the best! Lovely to see your stitching and look forward to seeing more.
Wonderful! Thank you so much Stacey! I love that you like them :)
Loved your video. The sound went out at the end so we couldn’t hear about the Beautiful Sampler behind hanging behind you. I hope you do a close up of it soon!!! So I couldn’t hear what you said about it.
Thank you so much! I saw that that sound went out...ahhh the tech. I was mentioning that next time I wanted to show that sampler :)
Great job on your first floss tube!! Your designing and stitching are beautiful. For me, shorter is much appreciated. So many I want to watch!!!
Thanks for the tips! That is helpful - shorter works for me too. I just have to get into a rhythm.
Beautiful Stitching. Welcome to the Flosstube Community! Do finish your early projects, they are so pretty and your stitches are really lovely. I subscribed and liked and am looking forward to more. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much Virginia 😍
What a wonderful first flosstube you did. Your projects and stitching are all beautiful and I especially loved the bell pull. I’m looking forward to your future videos and hope you will be able to get more time to stitch.
Thank you so much! 🥰
WOW! Absolutely stunning work! Happy to see you are now on Floss tube.
Thank you, Miss Diana 🥰
Congratulations on completing your first flosstube. After recently finding your stunning designs on Etsy it was a thrill to discover you’d dipped your toes into the flosstube world, and I was able to be there from the beginning. You did great and it will only get easier. Looking forward to what comes in the future.
Thank you so much!😍
Birgit, so glad to see you have a flosstube.
Scarlett
Yay! Thank you Scarlett (awesome name) I am so jealous you had classes with Eileen!!!
Welcome. 🎉 beautiful projects.
Thank you! 😊
Enjoyed your video and look forward to more. Lost audio when the pic returned to your face.
Sorry about that, let's hope the next one will go better 😁
I order from you all the time and love your designs! So glad to see you on Flosstube!
Thank you so much! I really appreciate it! 😍
Enjoyed your first vid ;)
Yay, thank you!
Welcome to Flosstube. I love your sampler charts. I too learned needlework since first grade with the Belgian ICM nuns who ran our Catholic girls school. Eager for your next video.
Thanks for your video loved seeing your work and prior projects - looking forward to more in the future
thank you very much, I really appreciate this
Birgit, great first Flosstube video. I just found your site this week and was happy and surprised to see you on Flosstube.
Glad to meet you. Colleen
Thank you, Colleen! Nice to meet you too 😍
I was so excited to see your flosstube this morning. Congratulations on your first one I love it!!!! I really enjoyed seeing your past and new stitching. Your patterns are beautiful. I didn’t think you needed to Apologizes for anything. Thank you for sharing. ❤
Thank you!!!!
Glad to see you are on flosstube. I love all your designs!! Wish I could stitch faster. How long have you lived in your current home? I grew up in your area. Wish I had stitching classes in school. I would have loved it😊😊
Thank you so much! I lived in CT since 1998, but this is our last year here.
Hi Birgit, so happy to see you joining flosstube, you did great for the first one. I already have five of your charts in my WIP pile and now I see there will soon be a sixth, Eliza Smith is just gorgeous, can’t wait.
Oh thank you! I'm so happy you like the patterns!! 🥰
Beautiful projects! 🦋🌻
Thank you! 😊
Loved your first flosstube. I also love the cedar creek linen. The large rectangular sampler on the wall behind you is lovely. Will you show it in a future flosstube and will you be charting it?
Thank you so much! We will talk about that sampler next time 😍
Congrats on your first flosstube!
Thank you Doreen that is so kind of you! 🥰
I enjoyed your first flosstube.
Thank you! 😊
Wow, how I would have loved to learn needlework in school! I hope Germany still offers it…
At the time it was a nice relief from all the academic studies. I don't think they teach it any longer, kids these days would do things with the needles they shouldn't 😂
