Lets go I went to Wayzata. At the high school every year even if we weren't in the State tournament they would show it on a big screen in the lunch room.
another solid video. I was a little surprised at the low numbers of D3 commits as I would have thought D3 teams would have been packed with MN players but D3 schools for the most part are private and very expensive. All the D3 programs in MN are very expensive. WI has a nice state university system with multiple D3 schools. I know this was just for the boys side of things but I'd be interested to know the girls numbers as it seems like 1/3 of the PWHL is from MN. As a parent here in MN and former player, I've heard a lot of parents and coaches discourage their kids from going and playing juniors, even after HS. "its a waste of time, just go get your degree. If you weren't drafted or recruited D1, it wasn't meant to be." or something along those lines. That is changing a bit as the numbers come out that it typically takes 1-3 years of juniors to get a D1 scholarship but that mentality is still very prevalent around the rinks here in MN.
Except for private schools. Anyone can get in there if they want you. I was going to say those numbers are low but there are a ton of minnesota players that commit after playing a season or 2 of juniors.
@@run2fire They don't count as a MN High School. they haven't played in the league for probably 30+ years because they didn't want to play by the rules but they are for sure a power house and I believe the highest ranked prep school for NCAA and NHL production in the country.
Its because even if you are a basketball player after you have supper you still walk to the rink and strap on the skates. People don't realize the amount of outdoor rinks we have and how much care the community puts in.
I was about the comment the same. Roseau has consistently gone to the State Tournament for years. They're actually a much smaller town, yet are still able to compete with the big schools. One of their players even played on the "Miracle on Ice" team that beat the Russians in the Olympics.
Minnesotans know about juniors. There are multiple NAHL teams in MN. People here understand they have to play juniors before college. You're making Minnesotans sound dumb or oblivious to hockey after high school

Average age of a D1 freshman is 21.5 years according to the NHL network. Minnesota is the state of hockey, period!
Curious about Michigan. Lots of travel programs and many guys make the NHL.
Plus Michigan HS hockey has increasing ly gotten better. I’d say best high school hockey after Minnesota
Hairmantown is sandbagging. They can move up to AA but the daddy's and mommy's don't want it. Funny all the comments riding the jock 😂

Crosby played for Shattuck with teammate Jack Johnson.
@@run2fire yep. They have a good prep program.

Outdoor rinks is a dying thing…unfortunately, kids only play sports in organized programs

no they know what juniors are but many decide not to pursue it even if they are talented enough.

Open enrollment allows anybody to play anywhere in MN
Not true brah! There is open enrollment but you can't just play anywhere
Glad you live in Canada! I cannot believe how 'metro bias' your list is, EH! Please stay north of the border!
