i mean from the start of the game, it did avoid lots of Genshin's mistake. Genshin has potential to improve what HSR is capable of and be better and so does HSR
Honestly, Star Rail feels more like Sen No Kiseki 3-4 but with gacha. I can definitely tell they took a lot of inspiration from the franchise. Both games uses trains as a means of travel amongst other similarities and Trailblazers are basically Bracers. Also, there are minor references in the game like Breaking Bad (I'm serious) and Bloodborne. It feels all over the place, sometimes.
I most like wont play HSR (work, life and have other games) but I do hope it goes well. Might be able to bring in some changes into genshin. Like the idea about picking a character after 300 pulls is a good one. Free to plays has about 70 pulls per patch. So in about 4 to 5 patches they will at least be able to pick a 5 star that they lost a 50/50 to or really want. Even if you would look at it 300 pulls still cost (if you buy top ups) a good $600 so getting to pick a 5 star that way is not a bad deal really
I really like it so far, good story and fighting. I've always enjoyed games with roles and team selections that matter. Dont get me wrong Genshin team comps matter but I feel like in Genshin team comps don't change anything outside of Abyss, all you need is a strong dps and a healer and thats all.
I'm not a fan of turn-based games, but I will give this a try. HoYo have won me over enough with Genshin to at least pique my interest in this. Also, some of the character designs looks sick (as always with HoYo). I just hope I can play it with a controller on PC. I can't stand playing games with a mouse and keyboard!
@@rin022 Yeah, a few. I used to play some of the old Pokemon games years ago, so I'm not unfamiliar with them, but I haven't played a turn-based game for quite a few years now. Kinda lost interest in that style of gameplay as I started playing more and more action oriented games.
I feel the same way, only I'm playing on mobile! I think the last turn based game I've played was Pokémon on Gameboy...😅 I'm looking forward to something a little different with that Hoyo familiarity.
@@iceagepenguinrace9788 See, I'm the opposite. I'm so much more at home with a controller. If I'm playing a more 'point-and-click' type of game like 'The Sims', or 'Cities Skyline', or 'Football Manager', then I'm totally fine with mouse and keyboard, but if it's something action based like Genshin or a first person shooter, I absolutely HATE it! I actually don't know anyone can play games like that! The over-sensitivity of the mouse. The on/off nature of moving with the WASD keys. The cramp you get in your wrists and fingers from 'crab-handing' for hours on end. The fact that EVERYTHING has a specific button (open menu with M, change weapon with P, crouch with C, etc). I ain't got the time or patience to figure out that many buttons on every game I play! Shit, I tried playing DC Universe Online on PC once after playing on console for nearly 10 years. I literally spent half an hour trying to figure out how to _fly_ and _open the menu,_ something that is second nature to me on console lol
You'll be okay, most likely. The game on mobile only takes up about 8gb currently, and loading screen alone feels smoother than Genshin. I can't wait to try it on my phone tomorrow (will start on PC during release).
See your own statment says it all. Most people dont want turn base. Thats why we play genshin. An we sure as hell dont want no open world gamrplay lol 😂 Makes it easier to just enjoy genshin 😅
I love gnehsin but was having trouble staying interested since I knew that my storage wouldn't make it too Fontaine and I was killing things too fast to feel anything but the turn based and strength of the enemies challenged me so I like it much more
I'm not against constellations but it definitely needs another method of obtaining them besides having to pull and the low chance of a 5-star character. One alternative is completing a character quest giving you a constellation for said character, or a token that one could use to unlock a constellation of the character of choice. Like the Traveler when you complete the storyline all other characters and their respective stories should give you a similar reward.
Thanks i almost didn’t recognize you uploaded this, I was told the system is Genshin based but the plot and arts are more honkai or final fantasy based so I’m probably won’t play it or will check the reviews a year later.
It also gives me persona vibes as well with the Honkai star rail that's why I play it so much cause Persona 5 you get to either hit the monsters get ambushed or run away
The word 'Hoyoverse' suggests the company's intention on creating their own game multiverse. Every game they create will have a lot of similarities yet they'll have unique plots and play style.
I am a bit worried about combining the turn-based combat and the gatcha, especially because I haven't seen anything besides combat and some small area to explore, Genshin is a more casual game due to his best part being the characters, the story and the exploration of the open world, but in a game that only offers true gameplay in combats, it's hard to not fall in the powercreep pit and force people to pull to stay up with the event challenges.
Okay, one important question: As someone who only plays Genshin and never tried Honkai Impact.. how is it connected to between HI and HSR? I know some characters are apparently the same etc, but is it fine to go into it knowing nothing about Honkai, or will you miss out on a lot of important stories, references, connections etc?
Genshin honkai and starail are in the same universe but not connected yes their are characters from honkai in starail but their not the same character just like raiden ei and raiden mei there's only one character that's actually from honkai but its not that important and yes you may miss some references from the other games if you only played this one
The only big connection it has with Honkai is one character, Welt, who is from the Honkai Impact universe. Beyond that, there are some characters that resemble ones from Honkai, but aren't really them. Himeko and Bronya being examples of that. So, in theory, the only thing you will be missing are references and nods. The story should be perfectly understandable for newcomers and veterans alike. If I committed a mistake, would love if anyone could correct me, thanks!
Ya , it probably wont make too much of a difference whoever if u do play honkai impact u would understand stuff more and understand the bond between Seele and Bronya as an example , references is obivously something u might miss if u didnt play the game

I haven't played yet, but I have the feeling that although physical is it's own in star Rail I think hoyo will just treat it like the Geo element or the normal type from pokemon where it won't be as strong as the other elements in the game and but it's still some what viable.
Based on beta information, physical does seem to have its place in the game, at least in casual play. Gameplay Spoilers: Physical does the most Break damage of all the elements, at the cost of no secondary effects.
@@lotuscabage4755 I'm sure everyone has played the game by now to know, physical is a full blown element in HSR. It is fully implemented into the same systems as the other elements.
I had no expectation and actually...I got hooked I like the visuals there is no Paimon !! that's a huge win !! 🥳🥳🥳 the MC is actually mostly silent but his thought are voiced...just give him a voice during cutscenes ! there is no excuse !! still better than the one in genshin the story I don't really care stories in gacha tends to just be excuses and no you don't make a story interesting by overloading it with unskipable dialogues...again you can break through faster in HSR than genshin and Paimon isn't there to repeat everything twice and most importantly...there are MEN in the gacha !! like OMG we're gonna have HUSBANDOS !!!!
Personally, I think games are similar and different at the same time. For one, I find the layout and style more or less identical if not similar, but the aim of the games are quite different, obviously. As someone who enjoys exploring worlds and unlocking maps I do think Genshin has the upper hand in that, as I do miss the flight and jump button A LOT. And I'm not a big fan of the fighting style due to the limited movement and inability to dodge attacks from the opponent. I must say though, the gacha system is notabally more forgiving in Honkai Star Rail, which is a good plus side. Character design wise, again this will fluctuate person to person, I prefer the art style of genshin impact, *but not the overall characters*. For example, some of my favourite characters in Genshin Impact are, Hu Tao, Venti, Klee, and Raiden Shogun to name a few, but in Honkai star rail, I love Servar, Bailu, Kafka, Jing Yuan, and Seele. Some similarities overall are, Navigation system, Modified daily commissions, Dispatching, Gacha banner style, Main menu, etc. So worry not if you want to try out the latest release of Honkai: Star Rail. I can't guarantee you'll love it more than Genshin, but I'm sure you'll like the overarching theme of the game. For me though, I must say as a completely new player to Honkai: Star Rail, I still have a sweet spot for Genshin impact due to how user friendly it is, and the story line- but both are admirable games! *In all seriousness though, we all know the best game has to be either Cookie run kingdom, or Silly wisher. I don't know, you tell me ;D*
But then again it's a turn based game from the same company. I'd love to hear your takes with wuthering waves in comparison to this one as that one actually puts up a competition and comes from a different company so we're gonna see a lot of interesting differences and opinions
HI3rd and HSR takes places in two different universes, although it has some connections to eachother (I'm not gonna spoiler it). It's a different bubble universe, just like Genshin's universe as well.

The hardest part is most likely finding and reesearching interesting topics to talk about on a regular basis for long enough without thing getting stale.
I'm not sure I like the setting of the game, or lack of significant exploration for that matter. All and all, this just feels like a downgrade to genshin, and I still have a lot of progress to make there. Maybe I'll give it a go purely free to play to see how much i like it, the familiar mechanics and interface should at least make getting started easy. is there anything in the game that you don't wanna do? like, in genshin,: you don't wanna buy acquaint fates cos you get them for free naturally; not spending fragile resin until AR 55; not activating Bennett C6 if you play certain teams, etc.
A few things that turn me away from playing this game: 1) Star Rail's resin equivalent resource caps out in **under** 24 hours, once again incentivizing two logins/day instead of two. -- You can get 240 Trailblaze Power over 24 hours, but you'll reach your 180 carrying capacity in only 18 hours (75% of a full day vs. 88.89% in Genshin). 2) The goblet equivalent gear piece **still** has individual type-specific Damage Bonus main stats... when it should simply be a same-type Elemental DMG Bonus (aka. STAB). -- When given to a Fire character, only their Fire attacks recieve the bonus. 3) **Flat** HP/ATK/DEF substats are back and don't seem any better than they are in Genshin.
The first point you mentioned seems like an upgrade compared to Genshin. In fact I would rather enjoy if the resin cap is either increased or the time to get a resin is reduced.
@@stelrex7293 the latter that is increased resin refresh rate is far better in general compared to a high cap. But having either one of these two would be a massive upgrade in genshin tbh

@@rin022 There isn't one specific game that made me dislike turn-based combat. Rather it's the concept of turn-based combat as a whole that I don't like. It's not engaging enough for me. 7:25 Never had a good laugh at a burst than this.
Imagine fighting your ass off and when you get your Q, its tea sipping time
I really like it so far, good story and fighting.
Have you played many turn based games before?
@@rin022 Yeah, a few. I used to play some of the old Pokemon games years ago, so I'm not unfamiliar with them, but I haven't played a turn-based game for quite a few years now. Kinda lost interest in that style of gameplay as I started playing more and more action oriented games.
Meh I prefer M&K in Genshin over controller personally especially since menu navigation is pretty clunky with controller.
I feel the same way, only I'm playing on mobile! I think the last turn based game I've played was Pokémon on Gameboy...😅
I'm looking forward to something a little different with that Hoyo familiarity.
Unlike most people, I prefer turn base games, I’ll probably still have Genshin on my PS4 and HSR on my phone, unless HSR is too much from my phone.
An we sure as hell dont want no open world gamrplay lol 😂
Makes it easier to just enjoy genshin 😅
I love gnehsin but was having trouble staying interested since I knew that my storage wouldn't make it too Fontaine and I was killing things too fast to feel anything but the turn based and strength of the enemies challenged me so I like it much more
Same turned base are for me
"This game's renditions of artifacts" oh.. oh god..
literally my reaction. Artifact grinding is my far my least favortie thing in Genshin so i'm not happy to see it return 😞
Except all stat will affect and contribute the gameplay unlike genshin, won't stop player from comparing to others artifact and endless grinding
They have auto play oh thank the lords.
Exactly. Won’t lie it looks like a replica in terms of feel of the game.
P5 is trying to do a gacha, but so far Atlus has mentioned nothing of it (maybe no localization).
HSR and Hi3 have nothing to do with eachother
The one you will be miss out is just a easter egg or reference about HI3 and star rail.
I'm gonna try it out even if I'm kinda doubting I'll enjoy it. Didn't try Genshin for the longest time and now I regret it big time :')
I feel that what makes genshin standout from the millions of “4 characters at a time” games is its combat style 🤔
alternatives to genshin combat style are on the way
like wuthering waves, nanatsu no taizai origins etc
but yeah genshin nailed that part
@@bobyhappy2992 And that's pretty much the only part they took out - They could have left the combat exactly the same (Ala the original Honkai games...) and it would've been an immediately play for Genshin fans.
@@Reelix I think hoyoverse didn't want to compete with their own game
If HSR had the exploration AND the combat of genshin, one of the two would have to fall
but the games are different enough to be enjoyable without feeling redondant
and even without all of that...I prefer hsr so far
@@bobyhappy2992 How about the combat of - And I know this might be a stretch - The previous Honkai games? Because this isn't the first one. All the previous ones had action of a level that makes Genshin feel slow. This is a massive kick in the pants to fans of the Honkai series as well...
@@Reelix I haven't played any honkai games before
so I have no opinion on it
I haven't played yet, but I have the feeling that although physical is it's own in star Rail I think hoyo will just treat it like the Geo element or the normal type from pokemon where it won't be as strong as the other elements in the game and but it's still some what viable.
Based on beta information, physical does seem to have its place in the game, at least in casual play. Gameplay Spoilers:
Physical does the most Break damage of all the elements, at the cost of no secondary effects.
Idk they treat physical pretty well in honkai
@@the_knut hope it doesn't ended like geo
@@lotuscabage4755 I'm sure everyone has played the game by now to know, physical is a full blown element in HSR. It is fully implemented into the same systems as the other elements.
@@the_knut good to hear tho
Vars 2 went from genshin second channel to hoyoverse second channel
Yea I will look into it but playing two Gachas at the same time is probably not healthy...
I can't wait to get to max level and find out all enemies die in 2 hits, making any sort of strategy completely unnecessary.
Oh you sweet sweet child, you know nothing of the world you exist in
"hey can i copy your homework?"
"ye but make sure you change it up a bit"
jokes aside it looks dope.
I'm probably going to pass on honkai to save on my time sinks, will consume your content tho, i love video essays
I had no expectation and actually...I got hooked
I like the visuals
there is no Paimon !! that's a huge win !! 🥳🥳🥳
the MC is actually mostly silent but his thought are voiced...just give him a voice during cutscenes ! there is no excuse !! still better than the one in genshin
the story I don't really care
stories in gacha tends to just be excuses
and no you don't make a story interesting by overloading it with unskipable dialogues...again you can break through faster in HSR than genshin and Paimon isn't there to repeat everything twice
and most importantly...there are MEN in the gacha !!
like OMG we're gonna have HUSBANDOS !!!!
The music in this video is so chef's kiss 👌
Thank you so much for all you do for us players!
I enjoy many of the older final fantasy games so I’m really looking forward to a good turn based rpg
This was a great explanation of the game, thank you!
Is Impact 3rd and Star Rail in the same world? They have Honkai in the Name.
Kinda
More like a parallel universe
They're connected but Starrail and 3rd are separate universes
HI3rd and HSR takes places in two different universes, although it has some connections to eachother (I'm not gonna spoiler it). It's a different bubble universe, just like Genshin's universe as well.
No but they are in the same multiverse
different universes. honkai impact is primarily focused on earth, while star rail is a bunch of other planets in the solar system instead.
Eidolon has the emphasis on the first or last syllable not the second. EiDOlons sounds weird, it's more EiduhLON.
No exploration is an automatic pass for me, and I actually find genshin's real time combat pretty good (especially compared to thers RPG)
100 percent agree wirh everything you said. Turn based an its not open world!?! What is the 80's?
Its s complete step back from what it should be.
Thats fine ill stay with my genshin thank you. 🎉
@@Splatz007doesn’t mean every new game must be open world. Turn based is an entire genre people enjoy. Besides some people actual don’t prefer full open world
@@Splatz007 bruh im actually happy it ISNT open world because sometimes I feel overwhelmed by the amount of things that it makes me want to go back to simple things
@@Splatz007 sure, stay with genshin, nobody cares, but don’t say that hsr is a “step back” just because it isn’t open world.
@@Nebotek1 ya its way to linear for my taste. Same four grey walls, over an over repeatedly.
Star rail makes my colostaphobia act up very badly. I dont like it. Its a bad game.
This constant fillibg of being trapped in a box the entire time im playing an wanting to get out never left my head cannon while playing. I couldnt even set through the prolog the filling was so bad.
It took 3 days of playing in little spurts just to push myslelf through that much.

Would like to try it at some point. I still have a love for turn based games (still play Pokémon emerald on an emulator on my phone lol).
I heard the intro saying it was released, then tried to log on, and there was still 5h35m left 💀
I don't play genshin, but I'm kind of familiar with the mechanics since my sister often tells me how it works. Thank you for making this video, it is really well-explained, I'm looking foward to playing Honkai.
I think I'll give it a try, but learning all the new things will probably give me headache
Is it turn based? Thats pretty cool and makes it different. I love traditional jrpgs.
Actually I'm a Genshin player for almost 3 year and i recently quit for lagging so much and i see this game is little similar to Genshin so i will give it a try.
Bro, i really like ur content and i appreciate that ur also gonna be covering honkai since i enjoy ur type of content alooot. But i have veen wondering how in the god of primogems do u manage like 4 channels
U cover, league of legends and smash i think and also genshin, now u will also cover star rail
How do u manage brooo!!
he does roughly 1 video worth of content each day and then upload them at the same time so while it is alot its not that unusual of an upload schedule if you compare it to other youtubers, if he got people that helps him with research, script writing and/or editing aswell then it becomes much more manageable.
At best it'll probably be a slow burn side game for me, but I still wanna dedicate my time/resources purely to genshin for now.
is there anything in the game that you don't wanna do? like, in genshin,: you don't wanna buy acquaint fates cos you get them for free naturally; not spending fragile resin until AR 55; not activating Bennett C6 if you play certain teams, etc.
6:07 we need this in genshin
A few things that turn me away from playing this game:
1) Star Rail's resin equivalent resource caps out in **under** 24 hours, once again incentivizing two logins/day instead of two.
6 minutes per honkai resin vs 8 minutes per genshin resin, it really makes a difference in a sense
The stamina recharge faster is a great thing. Why wpuld you not want more resin...
I'm not a huge fan of turn based games so I'm still on the fence about trying it or not
The difference in font is a nice touch I think
I have a bad connection and that looked like Illya if she was trying ti be santa at the beginning.. at least with a low resolution.
Early cool
I hope I get the silver hair girl or welt they look cool and good units too
Knowing that you can reuse account details would have been good to know
I really love gacha systems and I’m alchemy stars fan but I just am not a huge fan of turn based or non open world games I want to play for the characters and everything but it’d be a waste of my time bc of the world and story parts that aren’t my thing kinda sad but what can u do yknow. Despite literally have "Honkai" in the name.
Somehow the majority of the Star Rail video is about how they're similar to Genshin, instead to Honkai Impact 3rd
Yes, alot of content in this game are similar, or even the same to Genshin.
As both Genshin and Honkai player, I felt happy and hyped by how the system similar to Genshin.
But mainly in my gameplay, I felt more hyped when I see the characters in HI3 appeared in the game.
And its also the thing thats keeping me in this game. I wonder if there will be more HI3 characters appeared in the future updates.
So I was a little bit disappointed by the community, no hates on them. I do know Genshin has been more popular than Honkai for a while.
But I still wish to see HI3 fellows group together and talk about the nostalgia Honkai Star Rail gave us.
wuthering waves next pls
I like genshin but when i saw the honkai star rail on the yt i know that i will love to play it even i can't play it at that time because i like the galaxies, planets and stars thats why i think it's better in my opinion😁
Question The Storyline Are Same or Different I Mean Same as Because Our MC of Both Games Has Seal Unknown Power Only Star Rail MC Unlock During Dire Situation and But For Genshin Still Recovering Power For Each Nations Story Has Same But Different When Genshin You Have You Only Paimon and Traveled in Solo in When Star Rail You Have Crew to Going Space Train Planet to Planet to Genshin Has 4 Nations Already When Star Rail Has One World Still New Waiting For Next Update.
i`l try it,but idk,if the rates are bad,i won`t play it over something else like Summoners war, since on SW the rates are bad,so if they are the same or worse here,i won`t even trouble doing it.
I'll prob still give it a try. But I really ain't a fan of turn based games. For the sole reason of, I like to be the one doing the cool shit rather than watching cool shit happen

I sure do hope Honkai Starrail can Collab with Genshin (similar to Honkai Impact 3rd with Fischl I think), It would be very cool to see the same character in two different games (anf hopfully really cracked in both games) :D
Anyone with me-
Unfortunatley although I played abit of Honkai Impact Star-rail (dont get me wrong everything is great similar to Genshin), but Im afraid Im more stuck to Genshin as I really love the game (I hope anyone, even the HSR is upster because of this-)
Im also Intrested with people making theories out of Hoyoverses (unfortunatley not Mihoyo anymore lol-) games with literally all the universes being parallel to GI, HI3 & HSR which im kind of a sucker for :D
I think destroyers are like juggernauts in league of legends, high damage and high resilience
It looks like Exos Heroes when comparing to the gameplay.
Holup, how do you have 200 fuels!?
I think that HSR style is more interesting than Genshin tho, in Genshin the style like menu layout is so boring, just basic color like white or brown, and just blurry background, but in HSR you can see the design of the menu layout isn't boring, like the design is more complicated than just white or brown color in Genshin
Even tho hrs is a turn based game im interested how many sw, e7,7ds etc players would play this game coz hrs focus more on story, exploring and beautiful graphic. As a person who loves turn based games i can't get myself into this game coz too much walking and talking. I perfer the select stage and fight thingy. This Game feels very similar to genshin instead.
Waiting for ps version 🔥
Since I’m already rotating through 5 games, I think I’ll have to give this one a pass.
I just gonna play for story since Hoyo's writing is real good in HI3
But hopefully this game farming isn't too much because I want to play it casually and have decent team for story quest
My main question would be: Which game has better waifus?
Love to play the game later
I legit thought he was gonna say "The physical damage is actually imaginary" just to spite Eula mains
Is it just as time consuming because I don’t have capacity to play two games. I’m playing genshin extremely causally and it’s still a lot.
But I certainly don’t want to get in the game after missing a whole tone of time-limited event like I did with genshin.
I love Genshin Impact, the reason I started playing is because it was so similar to ZELDA BREATH OF THE WILD. This new game does not appeal to me. Good luck to people who will play this new game.
Yup. This game is made for people who want to try or like turn based combat, so this game isn’t gonna be for everyone

I’m a big fan of the game but the turn based combat makes me bored really quick 😅
It’s probably because I’m used to open world games like Genshin
This game really seems cool but I just can’t do turn-based combat. It’s just not fun for me.
what have you played and didn’t like
@@rin022 There isn't one specific game that made me dislike turn-based combat. Rather it's the concept of turn-based combat as a whole that I don't like. It's not engaging enough for me. To put it simply, I like running, I like dodging attacks, I like being able to attack when I want to even if it means I could get hit sometimes. And finally, it's more realistic. Now I know, obviously these fantasy games aren't realistic but realistically, no one is actually gonna fight taking turns like that even in that fantasy setting. I don't like strategy games for the same reason. There are some turn-based games that I like. But I like them DESPITE being turn-based, not BECAUSE they are. For example, Undertale. And maybe eventually that can apply for Honkai: Star Rail. But for now, I think I'll actually start playing Honkai Impact 3rd as that is much more appealing to me. despite its setting being sci-fi fantasy, which I'm not a huge fan of either.
I'm picky haha.
@@Melotaku Solid reply, and probably the words I needed to explain my preference as well. I very rarely play turn based games, and if I do, it's probably because of different reasons other than the combat.
