I stopped by & signed up, looks like they took care of you well. What an Awesome adventure you had, and saved on video. I bet the Mrs Loved watching you go through that lol. Much Better than ``Michigan Outdoors``, Great to see how your channel has taken off. Thank You for sharing your video, and your Awesome Adventure with us. ATB
This afternoon I had to take my 1 year old puppy to the vet to be put down for severe hip dysplasia and I was having a rough morning. This video allowed me to focus on something else for a while to cool my nerves before taking her to her procedure. Thank you for doing what you do. It’s not only entertainment and educational, but it can be just the thing to brighten a dark day. And happy belated birthday.
Chris... Seriously... You are the man! You are my new Les Stroud...but better. Canada kicks butt!... and I'm American, although my wife is in fact Canadian. Lol. I'm new to the channel but have pretty much watched every video you've made and that's saying something...theres an enourmous amount of incredible content. I wanted you to know that you are an inspiration to not only myself, but people everywhere.... Which I'm sure you are very much aware of by now. This world needs men such as yourself to inspire young men in North America to become what they were designed to be. You always add comments about telling others you are proud of them for going out and doing the things you teach. So although I'm sure you have heard it a thousand times.. good on you brother... I, and others like minded, are proud of you. I am 41 and also have a boy. You are a role model for him and I thank you for being that. I hope you continue to have amazing success in all of your endeavors, and I know you will. You seem to be a very driven, strong, compassionate and family oriented man. Thanks for spreading the wisdom that you do, and keep up the good work!
Thanks for saying and sharing. I hope that people keep getting motivated as it motivates me too, to be better, to do more, to push myself harder. Bring us all up a notch and be better for it.
Wood beard! Been watching your videos for a while now. As a kid I spent a LOT of time in the mountains fishing, backpacking, and just living. It's been a very long time since I had been out into the wild. I've spent years making excuses as to why I couldn't go: time, money, health. Watching your videos has helped to push me to decide I am done making excuses. So I have started exercising to get myself fit in time to start backpacking again next spring/summer. I have also renewed my fishing license and have been up on several day trips fishing. I wanted to say a big thank you to both you and to Jeremy for all the videos you two do, they are very much appreciated.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman probably all that natural fats... Most of my family is inuit and they all look super young till they die around 60 years old of a heart attack. The fats keep your skin, teeth joints and brain super healthy tho... My parents moved us to ontario when i was young and so far they've bothed made it past 70, proabably because we can actually eat vegetables here
Gosh you can tell this man loves his wife and child. It’s AWSOME being able to share their love of nature but equally nice to seen the love of family~~……~~ thanks again gentlemen!!!!! 🎂🐠🐟
Dudes get hit by apocalyptic weather and all they do is watch in awe, tell some jokes and sing happy birthday. These are some true balls of steel you two have!
my grandfather taught me the art of fishing and preparing the fish and since then i have always scaled my fish :).. great videos, found your channel today and haven't done anything else than watch your adventures. keep up the good work! :)
You’re the man, you got a beautiful family and network of genuine friends. Sitting pretty halfway along this crazy trip called life. Cheers to another 40 or more my friend
Oh my God I am so glad you guys made it out of that safely and holy crap that was insane. That smoke and the wind and the rain was crazy. And I've never heard you ever say a swear word on your videos but you said s*** at least six to seven times and that means that it was that crazy., and that means you actually were going through a lot of the BS because of the fires in the storms and I'm so happy you made it through it holy moly I'm glad you said s*** that many times because that made it so real for us viewers to see go through that and I'm glad you guys made it out. That must have been so scary and this video really holy crap is one of I'm not going to say your best bit but it is your best but it's one of the most scariest that we've seen from you and it is your best because you made it out alive and doing well and it was just really scary holy crap for us all to see and you guys did do some great survivalliving and taking care of each other and man. How come you didn't put a big large log on when it started to come in was it because the wind was too bad and why didn't you just cuddle together in a tent maybe you guys did just big spoon little spoon if you know what I mean to stay warm and then why didn't you put anything around your mouth like a wet t-shirt or something to breathe in? That way to smoke would not get into your lungs?
Ominous orange glow! I can see you are aughed by the power of nature as much as I was back in 1990 when I made a road trip to the east coast and got hit by a snow storm that dumped five feet of snow in NB. Got held up for two days on trans Canada.
Happy birthday bro...You showed well a pinnacle of life. Sitting and looking over that peaceful expanse of wild nature, no doubt starting to feel the weariness of the trip, and reflecting over your life, personal struggles and family...milestones and successes you have worked so hard for. And in that wild, feeling the loving expression of your wife and childs birthday message. Beautiful.
The danger cannot be overstated- Have you never heard of a "firestorm"? Think of a hurricane/tsunami of fire.. And yes, it's very possible in high winds with several fires around you.
@@TheWoodedBeardsman the updraft created between all the fires creates a vacuum, sucking in cool air and fresh oxygen at ground level into the fire, driving the circles of fires inward, creating sometimes extreme wind speeds. In some cases the fire can travel upwards of highway speeds. Interesting phenomenon- but glad to know y'all are okay.
Thank you for making these videos and letting us know about Red Lake Outfitters !!! I now know who to get in touch with whenever I wanna experience some nice wilderness and fishing!
wow 38:00 and on is just insane. I wish i was there to experience something so crazy. Its insane that it was only 10 minutes that went by from the time the wind started to shift, to when it was basically as dark as night. Thats one of the coolest things i've seen
Intense when the wind changed and the downpour ensued. No panic, but you guys were in quite the situation. Awesome video. And a happy belated birthday man! Be safe.
Awesome as always WB & Jer! Totally cool to see you and Jer encounter something out of the norm. Also glad to see that the walleye turned out edible. Keep em coming. Can't wait to see the Fowler WLC footage!
Fish bones and fins are a good source of calcium. I think they might be pretty much pure calcium. If you have enough oil or fat, and have small fish, try frying the skeleton and the left over scraps of meat between the bones after you have made your fillets. Fry it until it's crunchy. Fish bones are some culture's basic source of calcium. Lightly seasoned (salt and white pepper work well), it makes one of the best beer snacks you will ever eat. If you think you've fried it enough, put it back on for a bit longer. If all you have is big fish, just fry the tail end, and dont eat the spine. The fish I normally do it with are Australian Herring and are only 20cm or so in length, so that gives an indication of the bone thickness you are looking for. The big heavy bones up the front of a big fish might not fry to crunchy. It's genuinely delicious, and is my all time favorite snack food. 120ThingsIn20Years/BullwinkleII/Craig
Not sure if you have a video on this already but what do you recommend for cold gear? Not sure whats worth my money and our winters up here in MA thave been long wet and bitterly cold.
Wow. What an apocalyptic scene! You should definitely make the thumbnail a shot of that freaky looking orange sky. That will definitely get a lot of interest more than the walleye.
The forest fires were insane this past summer. Checked the government website and it showed the entire province was up in flames past Toronto. Never seen anything like it! Happy belated birthday! Big 40! I'm creeping on 45! The DR trail mix is good. I keep it in my survival car kit! Water was insanely low this summer and the opposite the summer before. Keep an eye out for a tall hairy guy walking around. Scared the crap....outta me. You guys were close to the inferno. I wanted to get an aerial drone shot but was scared to lose it! Great show!
A bit late I know but happy belated birthday! 40? Never would have guessed you were 40. The most 36. I guess the years of living off the land have really made a great and positive impact on you two. :)
You need to come more North. Kitimat B.C is known for fishing. The local airport and river in the spring are teeming with either Coho or Spring. I just caught some Coho not to long ago. It’s a good place to go into the wilderness as well.
Wow you guys are burning it up! Your barely posted three hours and already over 2k views! Never a bad video! Keep up the great work. Low 20s here so we are bracing for a early winter 🤠 Stay safe.

This was filmed in the summer, I would imagine they are well out now.
Big shout out from Pinawa Manitoba. You guys rock, you’re like watching a Canadian version of Jay and Silent Bob lol
What a crazy thing to experience with the wind change and forest fire smoke. I think the pickerel on the cookfire were telling you something. Lol. Also the storm pressure may be keeping the smoke low to the ground
Jeremy is such a trooper! Waiting hand and foot on Mrs. Bearded Woodsman.
I wish.
Just giving you some crap. You guys are living the dream, and I for one love watching. So keep it up!

It’s amazing how people can survive in that much smoke. That is absolutely WILD. Honestly, I was a little afraid even though I know you were fine.
It never got so bad I thought I was going to die, but it was a super weird thing to experience first hand...and to know there was no way to escape.
Happy Birthday Chris, The Zander looked good,(Walleye). You nearly could have smoked them ! :)
