Yes, kept winter tires on vehicles driven down to Florida a couple times. Wear is difficult to say but truth is some of the worst road conditions are in NY and PA both going south and returning north ... so it is most practical to leave them on for the duration. Doesn't make sense to carry four summer tires down south and swap them for 2.5 weeks ... then turn around and put winters back on for trip home.
@@jeffrotullstein thanks. Beside the itinerary you listed to Alex below, I would like to take a scenic road. Some highway but some secondary roads as well, if possible. Any suggestions?
@@Canadian_Icecube Not much I can say about scenic routes - the Shenandoah Valley (I-81) is pretty scenic itself. In Florida you can go east off the I-95 and take the costal hwy - scenic but also slow as it passes through every little town near the ocean ... try some google map searches ... you could divert to Gettysburg in PA for American civil war history or take a side trip to Nashville?
Neither Canada nor Humanity itself is going to save the planet ... we'll be lucky if we can save ourselves ... if every Canadian died tomorrow 98.5% of all carbon emissions would still exist ... carbon tax is just another tax going to an incompetent government.
I'm planning to do this trip for the 1st time next week (Ottawa-Miami)... Going with the wife and kids. Any important tip you can share with me? I'd greatly appreciate it!!!
Plan your stops at well known motel chains; plan for about 800-900 km driving per day: there are plenty of rest stops in all states and are good places to stop for boxed lunches ... most motels offer breakfast included ... good places to grab a couple muffins and fruit for snacks while driving.
I meant to say plan for 8-9 hrs of driving per day ... with gas, rest rooms and food stops you will easily be on the road for 10-11 hrs total ... have a safe trip.
@@alexl6433 416, 401, 81 all the way to 77 through Charlotte NC; I avoid the 270 to Washington like the plague; another route is 64 to Richmond VA and 95 South from there. Ball park stops are Winchester VA, Savannah GA ... speed picks up on the 95 but traffic volume too ... get an early start on day one; you'll find it harder to do that mid-trip. Safe travels ... make sure you have GOOD BRAKES on your vehicle.
Did you kept your winter tires ? If so, how did they fair in the heat? Any damage? Planning the same in 2024, from kanata.
