This is a really nice tutorial, I was thinking that the emergency brake works with the rotor and the caliper lol. Thank you so much for your help and share your knowledge. (Y) tumbs up buddy.
I tried to remove the metal sleeve from the bellcrank on my FJ60. It was a nightmare. I definitely don't recommend doing this on a 60. The sleeve is "dovetailed" on one corner and took me 2 hours to get free. Ended up using a grinder on it. An easier way to restore fit would be to sand a little bit from both sides of the lever and pack full of grease.
Late to the video here. Thanks for posting. I changed my drum brakes on my 60 series and they're over tightening. The spring I have doesn't go over the whole adjusting pin. Do you think that would be causing it to over tighten?
Looks like you are missing one crucial step....at least applicable to the FJ60/62. Backing off the parking brake through the inspection window in the back of the drum. If I don't do this on mine there is no chance in hell the drum will ever come off.
This is excellent. And it i was to replace my axle seal, i would remove that housing with the 4 bolts and slide out the axle, replace the seal, correct?
haters are probably the competition who can't do a decent, well instructed video themselves. People who want to learn how to do their brakes at home on the other hand will hopefully appreciate this effort. I do anyway. Well done mate! By the way, how much does the machining of the inner drums usually cost?
Man i did all of this but as soon as I put the drums back on everything locks up. I can't turn the wheel at all. The drums have just been turned. The Piston is not even plugged into the brake line so it doesn't seem like there's pressure going to that. Everything is just stuck.
You have the best, most informative tutorials on TH-cam! Any and all FJ60 vids you can do are very much appreciated!!
Glad I could help - thanks for watching!
@sturomain Thanks! I'm taking some editing and production courses at the end of this month - going to try to make them better!
Great video. Is it the same principal for a 40 series?
Awesome - thanks for watching!

@Kahur2007 Awe shucks Kahur! Thanks!
Soon as it warms up out side I will be doing this. That is for the tip on the E break mine it frozen solid!
Sure, leave it set loose - install drums, then just get in the truck and keep pulling on the ebrake handle - they will self adjust:)

Yeah this is slightly different with the spring to a HJ60 but man....made the job a no brainer....thanks for the post

thank you very much...but you've changed or have you used the old? I would not change them because 'they are very expensive..
great tutorial, very clear. Well done. :)
Excellent video and very tidy and neat work. Is is necessary to clean/service the brake master pump as well? Thank you
Hey there, great video. I was wondering if ou have any on replacing the rear axle seals? I have a 1985 BJ60, looks similar but slightly different.
Man i did all of this but as soon as I put the drums back on everything locks up. I can't turn the wheel at all. The drums have just been turned. The Piston is not even plugged into the brake line so it doesn't seem like there's pressure going to that. Everything is just stuck.
Thanks for that!
