  • Story :-
Op came from a home that comprised a mother she was proud of and a father who was never really a dad. While her mother did her best to carry the family along, her father did his word by squandering the funds he earned from work outside the home. OP’s mom finally decides to divorce her husband after he became physically abusive toward her. OP’s dad in a bid to spite the mom, refuses to help his daughter (op) who needed money for college, and out rightly cuts off from her. Op and her mom make it despite the odds and things get a bit better when OP gets engaged to her boyfriend who takes care of the family. Her father whom life had become rough for tries to find his way back into the family he abandoned. Op and her mom refuse his plea for plea and acceptance but OP’s mom soon passes away from cardiac arrest, leaving OP distraught. Op moves on and was about to get married to her lover when her father obstructed the ceremony, and in the presence of everyone demands that Op and her fiancé repay the whole money he had spent on child support since before she turned eighteen. Despite being provoked, OP remains calm but files a restraining order against her father for life! She refuses to help him out as the years go by despite the plea of her husband.

I dropped my father. This was before internet and cellphones. So it was easier to drop that kind of trash. He was finally found living on the streets by his sister. He was put in a charity hospital. Where he wasn’t in his own mind anymore because of all the alcohol and drugs. His doctor called me once. Asking for $50,000 for heart transplant. I laughed. Told him it would never change him. And I wouldn’t give him a new heart because he drank and did drugs for most of his life. I don’t think he deserved a new heart. Plus my father never paid child support for any of his children. So I also told the doctor that my father should paid for his bills since he never paid for any of his child support. He should have plenty money. Oh yes, he spent it on drugs and alcohol. Good luck with that.

Can see why OP wished she was fatherless. It's so sad that OP's mother died so young. OP's mother had worked so hard to support OP. For OP's father to show up on her wedding day period is galling, much less making any demands. Since OP's bad penny of a dad - yes, a restraining order as Nathan threatened was a good idea.

Malignant Narcissists will NEVER leave you alone until you force them to do so. OP's mother dying would not deter her father. That woman meant only what she could give to him. In a MN's world, all other people exist only to serve them. They are either psychopaths or sociopaths, having no empathy for anyone. This is why he could seduce women so easily in his 30's and 40's.

Now he is changing he started not to greatly disliking any help from me to starting to seak out my help and is now starting to complain when I ask for his help where it will improve my situation that he would benefit from.

My mother is a narcissist and made my life and sometimes my fathers life unbearable. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized Dad ducked out when he could to avoid mom. He was her “flying monkey” my brother was a molester and terrified my sister and I. Mom ate up the drama, Dad? He was an absent shadow. Don’t give a narcissist anything, it comes back to bite you. If you put him in a retirement community and payed the mortgage, you could be happy to be away from him. I’d suggest that that retirement community be several states or even an entire country away. He can feed and cloth himself, he is in a nice living situation and knows that if he leaves, this is where a good lawyer could be used, if he contacts you other then through lawyer he looses his home and everything in it. Don’t think of him again , he will never say thanks but he will be far away.

My father made his mistakes, and 10 years after he made that big mistake, he admitted it to me over dinner. He made a decision, he made his bed, so now he would lay in it. He would make the best of the situation we could as not to hurt anymore people as he did back then 10 years earlier. For another 23 years he lived miserably. It is hard for me to envision what I would do. Closest to comes is to my step sister, ware money is everything. Yes my dad had millions, and thanks to my dad his wife, who lived another 22 years managed to amass even more millions. She had emotional and mental problems. I could do nothing else, but feel sorry for her.
To my surprise, my heart is turned cold into stone when it comes to my stepsister. I will not go into the story. It’s long and arduous to recount. I think I would do as she did in the story. Having money is very nice, but being happy and content, it’s even nicer. Yes, my heart will turn to stone.

I would then make sure that anyone and everyone whom he MAY have been in contact with knows that they MUST. NOT. LET. HIM. KNOW! And don't just threaten whoever, REPORT THEM!!! It's SO important that he and his grandchildren NEVER MEET. If later in life, he breaks ANY RO's, and they decide to get in touch with him, make sure you have a print out of the ACTUAL happening. That way, he can't say SOMETHING that is so totally wrong, also, it would mean that you're quite prepared to stand against him. He is, quite honestly, VILE. Good luck and God bless you all. XXXX

That is an EXTREMELY disturbing way to describe your boyfriend at the time.. Who describes a boyfriend as a brother and husband to her mother? Very gross which I'm sure people who have said to her in the comment section... Very disturbing... She rambles way to much about things not necessary too...

If you are physically able, I don't know why people won't consider joining the National Guard to pay for college!? There's both Army and Air National Guard. Or even a Federal Reservist. All Federal Branches (Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard) have a reserve component.

It's a pretty good story but it wasn't written by a woman, so if it's a real story it must be about someone the author knows personally and the author made the choice to use first person narrative perspective instead of third person perspective. There are these fascinating little details in the writing styles of men vs. women when writing about women that reveal the sex of the author. For example, women virtually never describe themselves or other women in the manner the "OP" of this story describes both "herself" and "her" mother.

Probably because her mom didn't want to. OP's mom felt like she had to take care of her daughter at all times. Plus, she wanted OP to just focus on her studies.

Give her husband an ultimatum. Either stop talking or associating with the father or divorce. It's the husbands fault the guy stuck around because the father knew he could sweet talk the husband. Chances are her husband is still gonna pay the dad and she will find out years later.

let me be honest, you do not, let me say this again, YOU DO NOT need to be a great student to test well and even to actually know the content well enough to test well without the typical grind studying people do... im one of those people, tested out of a good number of college courses by annoying the instructors into letting me take the exams or finals, the one most shocked was a college psychology professor, who ended up having me take the tests for the next 2 levels after i got over 98% on the finel for the starter class, she ended up asking how the hell i knew all that, i pulled out a high level college text i was given by a teacher in highschool whens he saw me reading one of her old texts day after day (i was in accounting, i got the terms work dont in under a week.. it was genuinely just copying stuff from text files into excel and getting it setup to tabulate... i was able with a bit of help, to automate it, i had it almost working but needed help due to guides being out of date compared to the office version i was using(strangely our school had the latest MS office and the guides for a ver back... well very minor changes ment i needed a couple more commands/comments/wtfe and it was working.. verified and told her to check my submitted folder on the server... she called me cheeky.. LOL.. and gave me that book since i was so into it and, when she would talk to me about it clearly i understood what i was reading, sometimes better then she did according to her... that college prof was really into the fact i was just an autodidact and infact is how i know that word.... if something interests me, like man who have "add" or "adhd", i can hyper focus and absorb alot of info in a short time... and actually retain it... not like a photographic or idetic memory but more... the concepts and ideas stick ... its both a gift and a curse... "what has been seen , cannot be unseen, what has been learned, cannot be unlearned" like.. the fist time you walk in on your parents having sex.. nobody wants to see that... nobody... and you cannot unsee it... you learned something you never wanted to know... and brain bleach dosnt exist..
