Woodturning a Streptohedron

- I purchased David Springetts book titled Woodturning Full Circle. In this book he shows how to turn streptohedrons.
Geometry has always fascinated me, so what could be better than to bring geometry into my woodturning!
I figured that I should start with the easiest piece to make in the book, so I chose the cone shape.
It's a one sided, one edge shape, that kind of rolls, but isn't a sphere.
As long as you keep your measurements within 1mm of each other, (cone Dia, to cone length), it will take very minimal sanding to match up the edges!

Thanks Jim! Happy New year to you too!🎉
Only a hundred more to go. I have that same book. Good book. By the way, you might want to reverse that hose clamp so the band doesn't act like a claw.
I'll do that! Thanks ! It is a great book!
I'm anxious to make more of these pieces!
it would be interesting to start with one of the parts of the blank turned at 90 degrees so you can hopefully end up with seamless grain in the end result. thanks for sharing. I subscribed.
Ohhh! That's a great idea!! I will have to try that! Thanks for subscribing!
@@spiritwynd I'll be watching :)
