This is honestly the first time I was genuinely kinda upset by the prices. Sure the parfum was very very expensive as well as her merch that's been released in the last year/ year and a half, but this feels different. I honestly can't see why they would be so expensive. I'm sure the hand painting and the trinket box play a huge part in that, but there's no doubt in my mind that most of the price is going towards the profit, not the production price. That being said, we can't know what the behind the scenes of making the candles was like. We don't know how much people got paid for their roles in designing the scents or the eggs. But, it is a candle. Just a candle. That burns, and gets used up. Also, who would buy a candle that expensive and actually use it? It's very hard to find any way to defend this price. I do think it was helpful that there was a few deals on the site, like how you got 20% off if you bought them all. At the end of the day, it is kinda ridiculous. it shouldn't be their goal to make things that are priced like luxury brands when the common population can't afford it. I kinda understood the parfum collection set, but again, this feels different. And how could that whole stature cost multiple times less than all the candles? Also this is NOT me criticizing Melanie, but instead the company she partnered with. I really hope that the goal of these is to have the money going towards a big project, the Portals movie for example, but if that is the case I strongly believe that Melanie and/or the company should release a statement saying that is the end goal. Her merch is getting more expensive bc she’s getting more popular but I feel like it is a bit pricey and I’m not sure if Melanie chooses the pricing for her merch so that’s what I think!
Heres my theory/possibility: she had to scrap the portals movie due to her label, but perhaps shes trying to gather her own funds from the perfume, depop bracelets and now candels??
@@joshuajamessara To put it into perspective, K-12’s budget was $5-6 million dollars… and she only made back $359,377 when it was released. So she literally lost millions on that movie. Her label definitely isn’t going to fund another movie after that, and I’m not sure how possible it is for Mel to raise that kind of budget on her own. Even if she can, it’ll take a long time and Portals is already over a year old. Plus the budget for a Portals movie would definitely be higher cuz of all the special effects needed to create the world the pink creature lives in. I just don’t see it ever happening honestly. Don’t get me wrong tho, I want it and I hope I eat my words in the future.

She doesn’t not need to be overpricing anything. Melanie doesn’t make millions but she’s nowhere near debt. She lives in a mansion that she’s probably gonna sell for 2million and continuously takes months vacations in Hawaii renting a private home. And she’s not exempt from criticism towards her exaggerating how little money she has. She isn't on the brink of homelessness, she isn't living paycheck to paycheck, she's not like everyday Americans. She's definitely keeping the lights on her house and she earns more than 80% of America. If she REALLY wanted the money she would make the prices actually affordable because more people would go out of their way to buy them, multiples even, instead of looking at the price first and immediately walking away.
