i completely agree that bot and top turrets are overrated with no plates, but mid turret is definitely not overrated. getting mid turret allows the enemy team to move up their vision line significantly further, it actually opens up the map. losing a mid tower is definitely kinda a big deal imo
The ability to place down vision is definately an important thing to consider, in fact in an earlier video they went over just how mid turret is more valuable solely for that reason than the other turrets. 100 gold difference on your opponent is nice but if you concede vision control for that it may not be as worth.
What if i told you mid tower is also the easiest one to take down. Thats exactly why trading things for it is overrated. I guarantee you hectors team just randomly took mid tower 3-5 minutes later

But yeah that Nama person got hard stuck in high Gold, and many of the lessons after were just saying that he should be doing the things he was taught. Ok, so what I've learned from Skill Capped so far : kills are overrated, dragons are overrated, turrets are overrated (therefore Heralds are overrated), and I'm pretty sure I saw a video about Baron being overrated and, in context of climbing and limit testing, that wins are overrated. Now I'm eagerly waiting for videos about farm being overrated and then I can uninstall LoL with a clear conscience because I would finally solve it.
The only things that isnt rated highly enough is CS per min. If you maintain a higher cs per minute than anyone else then they cant really do anything to you, thats why he doesnt value objectives over CS. My hardstuck plat 4 adc friend applied this concept as a vayne main and climbed to D3 in a week. At the end of the day the enemy team needs to kill your team or be able to kill your team in order to end the game. If they cant do that, if you can kill them all, you will win.

This far, i just played for fun, but i was not a succesful player, i lost a lot of games.. now i know, it was my fault several times.. Soo i started to see this videos and tried to learn something useful from them. When the enemy takes the drake, i go for herald or gank on top lane. I'm farming a little bit better, looking for opportunities to farm on sidelans too, when the enemy team is somewhere else on the map. I use the advantage of lvl 2 and 3. I use my advantage with Viktor as ranged against melee champions and some other staff.. Unfortunately, i still lost a lot of games, but now.. i win a bit more than before.. i suppose it will be better at time. Now i do what im doing, not just running on the map without any reason. I do my best in all games Thank you all for this :)
as a jungle main, cant wait for my midlaners to start giving mid T1s for a kill and lose control of my jungle for every other tower, i'd agree. But mid T1 is a protection against invades, and losing it can easily snowball into your jungler losing control of a lot of camps or just getting contested on them more often
enemies in your jgl earlygame are easier to collapse on. even if no tower so more paths for them to run away. Also mid t1 is the easiest tower to take. I guarantee you hectors team randomly took it down 3-5 mins later. All you have to do is let go of your ego and run a bit while team comes to collapse. Losing a camp now and then for the good of the game is fiiine.
I think his justification is trading a turret for a kill because of what happens after the kill. Hector finishes the fight top and loses the mid T1 (500G to the enemy). He recalls to defend mid T2, so one turret is all that he loses. The tradeoff is top avoids dying (450G prevented from going to the enemy), gets assist gold (150G earned), then takes a turret of its own (500G) and can continue pushing a bit, probably catching the next wave at least (105G), and he gets 300G for killing the enemy. Then they get bot turret as well for an added bonus. Knowing that outcome I'd definitely agree with his decision, but I can definitely imagine situations where the fight ends before he's able to get there, and at best he ends up shoving the wave himself and getting the top turret in exchange for his mid turret.

About Hector's opinion on turrets, I tend to follow it in a different way. If the plates are still in play, of course I take those for juicy free gold, and avoid letting my opponent do so. But when they are down, I usually don't hit the turrets at all if the game is not fast enough for me to force me splitting or killing the turrets. It's not the right play all the time but I like to see when the enemy outer turrets kill our minions and makes it that the enemy wave gets pushed into us more quicker, and lets me collect that free gold as both teams play aram poke minigame.
well i m playing more and more garen lately and i can tell for sure that having the top tower take enemy cs when you are far ahead is really the greatest thing turrets don’t protect you yet they steal you minions and depush, which you don’t mind when you plan to stay top
Change my mind: all turrets are griefes, they farm if you let them but they don't buy any items. riot should address that problem by making sure turrets are allowed to recall. galio could easily bring them back to lane where they was before - so there is no reason for not doing so. if the AI module is damaged there is still heimerdinger that can have a look on it. Sanguins Blade into Gargoyle Stoneplate should be a decent rush item in any game for turrets. buying boots is kinda reportable - but def. bannnable if they ever buy Mercurys. azir will need some compensation buffs due to the fact his passive got useless.

9:06 my typical bronze teammate knows this really well, that's why the only towers taken in my games are the one i personally take. Last game was 5 plus an inib. The Garen was too busy dancing around mid to collect his negative kda to bother about such a trivial thing.
About the towers: I agree and disagree with Hector. I believe turrets are useless UNLESS it's the inhibitor or nexus turrets. Normal outer/inner turrets won't win you the game, they're going to push you one step closer to the win, but it's still the same. I've lost games where I had the mid turret advantage. When it gets to your inhibitor/nexus turrets, they have to be protected.
Imo Hector is right with the turrets once plates are down and first turret fell they not that important and only gold stacks to pick up so if u gain more by not protecting themits a good thing. unless ur a midlaner like ziggs or Xerath where a turret gives u more pressure on the overall map coz ur immobile
Ok, big comment on that turret philosophy. Now, I agree with hectors mindset for high ELO, but in the lower brackets turrets are just as valuable as teammates. Turrets are dependable and you can make timing decisions around them due to the lane pressure they can provide simply by bouncing waves. Low elo teammates often aren't dependable.

Based on the timer it kind of actually makes sense. If the wave is frozen in his favor, he doesn’t need the flash for a good while unless the jungler decides to camp his lane. The freeze gives him almost full control of the lane and denies the lane opponent most of their cs and gold, giving you a significant advantage the longer the freeze goes on. It’s also incredibly safe, since the wave is frozen near your tower so you don’t have to overextend to get your cs. It’s barely 6 minutes in, so no important fights will be happening unless his teammates make a mistake, and since he’s playing Yone he can easily skirmish safely regardless. A freeze on lane for a flash he most likely doesn’t need for a while is a decent trade in my opinion.

Turrets are overrated. Agreed. The only time turrets are necessity are #1, before 14 minutes due to turret plates. Each gives 160 gold. Two plates = 320 gold. 1 kill = 300 gold. Therefore, conceding 4 plates = 2 kills. #2 Turret first blood. Bonus = 400 gold. If you're 0/2 and your opponent is 2/0 with same cs but you get 5 plates + first blood tower gold, it would be like this. You= 5 plates * 160 gold = 800g + 300 gold tower + 400 gold first blood bonus = 1500 gold. Opponent = 2 kills * 300 gold = 600 gold. Now, who's fed? The 2/0 or 0/2? Other than that, the #3 would be nexus turrets and tier 3 turrets. Both for obvious reasons. If there's no tier 3 turret and opponent has huge wave, you MUST def since you would lose inhibitor and that means 3 mins (correct me if I'm wrong) of lose lane priority due to super minions. Nexus towers are the same plus backdoors. Tier 1 and 2 turrets are not as important after 14 minutes. Yes, they give gold but that's pretty much it. If you got to late game, gold really does not matter if everyone is full build.
Punish them everytime they go for poke. I hate it when I watch my nautilus have a free hook but they get scared because they got hit by brand W. After they use abilities they are useless and you can just all in. This also especially applies against morg after she uses Q. If you are playing a champ that isn't hard cc like janna, first of all, you just shield the poke and again, punish them by poking them back.
Tier 1 mid is so strong because it allows the jgler to farm. If the tier 1 mid isnt there, the jg has a much more difficult time farming and often his camps are stolen much eaiser after tier 1 mid is taken.
Can't agree with Hector on mid turrets, at all. As a jungler, even if I'm far ahead of the enemy team, mid outer turret completely shuts me down and the most annoying games are ones where enemy has an Anivia who just permaclears mid. However, as soon as it falls, the game's a stomp, I permagank every lane and steal all enemy jungle without returning to my own jungle just about ever, it snowballs incredibly hard. It's absurd that Hector's trying to say that getting an extra 100 gold is worth more than the structure. From my experience, I'd value mid turret far higher, like at 1000g.
When turret plates expire and first tower is down turrets are legit worthless especialy if gold is being shared. Literally 1 kill on side lane is worth droping turret.
I don’t feel as though this is advanced macro, more like mid level macro. Wave states and gold trade compensation should be pretty common knowledge just based on statistical logic. Advanced macro would be higher concepts likes, item to power scaling, identifying geographical disadvantages and strategic forces

Depends on the game state. Your team will always be closer to respond to jungle invades especially when it is down.

Turrets are overrated. Agreed. The only time turrets are necessity are #1, before 14 minutes due to turret plates. Each gives 160 gold. Two plates = 320 gold. 1 kill = 300 gold. Therefore, conceding 4 plates = 2 kills.
#2 Turret first blood. Bonus = 400 gold. If you're 0/2 and your opponent is 2/0 with same cs but you get 5 plates + first blood tower gold, it would be like this.
You= 5 plates * 160 gold = 800g + 300 gold tower + 400 gold first blood bonus = 1500 gold.
Opponent = 2 kills * 300 gold = 600 gold.
Now, who's fed? The 2/0 or 0/2?
Other than that, the #3 would be nexus turrets and tier 3 turrets. Both for obvious reasons. If there's no tier 3 turret and opponent has huge wave, you MUST def since you would lose inhibitor and that means 3 mins (correct me if I'm wrong) of lose lane priority due to super minions. Nexus towers are the same plus backdoors.
Tier 1 and 2 turrets are not as important after 14 minutes. Yes, they give gold but that's pretty much it. If you got to late game, gold really does not matter if everyone is full build.
They need a guide to play against poke heavy supports like xerath or brand
Punish them everytime they go for poke. I hate it when I watch my nautilus have a free hook but they get scared because they got hit by brand W. After they use abilities they are useless and you can just all in. This also especially applies against morg after she uses Q. If you are playing a champ that isn't hard cc like janna, first of all, you just shield the poke and again, punish them by poking them back.

Tier 1 mid is so strong because it allows the jgler to farm. If the tier 1 mid isnt there, the jg has a much more difficult time farming and often his camps are stolen much eaiser after tier 1 mid is taken.

As a jungler, even if I'm far ahead of the enemy team, mid outer turret completely shuts me down and the most annoying games are ones where enemy has an Anivia who just permaclears mid. However, as soon as it falls, the game's a stomp, I permagank every lane and steal all enemy jungle without returning to my own jungle just about ever, it snowballs incredibly hard. It's absurd that Hector's trying to say that getting an extra 100 gold is worth more than the structure. From my experience, I'd value mid turret far higher, like at 1000g.

I don’t feel as though this is advanced macro, more like mid level macro. Wave states and gold trade compensation should be pretty common knowledge just based on statistical logic. Advanced macro would be higher concepts likes, item to power scaling, identifying geographical disadvantages and strategic forces
