Rammus was underleveled, that's why Quinn fought him. But, apparently she doesn't know very well why Rammus is hilarious in low elo (or she probably did, but underestimated it).
I would've gone straight for the other two enemies and ignored Rammus. I have 120K mastery on that champion, and I know that once Rammus has enough health, he's unkillable for any AD champ.

@@flyingcactus1953 Depends, but at least for Fiora and Jax, it's difficult. Yeah, they can tank a lot, but Rammus usually has Thornmail, so their healing is just gone. Vayne has to play smart. ADC after all.

Jax is incredibly tanky with ultimate and he also deal mixed damage.

@@flyingcactus1953 Jax is mostly ad damage and all his magic damage comes from autos, but rammus' w grants him mr as well(at smaller rate than armor, but jax has much less magic that physical damage)

hehe, it does seem opposite sometimes; it all has to do with the context of the video and the game though I think. e.g. this video they're saying cs isn't worth dying for when you know 100% you can't fight, but in other videos where they say you should not miss cs usually they're talking about once your ahead you have no reason to ever lose a wave since you're unkillable. Not arguing, juts elaborating, its interesting stuff

Well tbf, lot of time, especially in top lane in a match up when none give kills easily and junglers don't gank, cs is the difference between closing laning phase evenly/ahead of half/1 item and closing behind 1+ items so

Its completly deleting the enemy out of the game when played correctly.
If the Malphite would have done what Quinn has done Malphite would have been the winner of that game.
Quinn would be perma splitting while loosing the map.
But Malphite just kept tickling at those towers.
League is hard.
Even harder for now, because countermatchups arent as 1 dimensional anymore.
You have to play perfectly to delete the enemy out of the game.
Learning how to get carried and allowing your team to carry you, is a skill, in itself, that everyone should pick up.

the only thing Kayle could maybe do is get lucky in roaming around.
Because she cant ever get xp from the lane anymore.
If Kayle has a jungler that can basically 1v3 the enemy then she might call him over everytime Irelia builds up a freeze to break it. Thats the only possible solution for Kayle to not just be an ult bot.
Irelia is hard diving minion waves and with her Q she can keep zoning the enemy out of xp range while getting every single last hit. This lane played out perfectly this game turns into a 5v4.
well, one thing you can do is go hide in a bush and ask one of your teammates to type "report kayle afk" in all chat and hope irelia reeds that and starts pushing, so you can freeze again. A bit cheesy though but works sometimes.

If you aren’t low elo,this video isn’t for you.The whole point of the video was to explain what players in low elo can do to win these types of matchups.I don’t think them showing a Kayle vs Irelia counter pick in GM would have shown what can be done

I've always just left lane and roamed as Quinn whenever I encounter something I can't easily deal with in lane. Most champions aren't going to kill a plated tower fast, especially early on, and Quinn's roaming from 6 on is so fast that you can roam like 90% of the time and still catch some waves at your tower. You end up behind in farm, but the kills and early dragon pressure you can score for your team more than make up for it most of the time, plus you probably weren't gonna get much farm anyway being countered in lane. And even if you personally come out of it behind, your team will likely be so ahead from synchronized ganks with your jungler that it doesn't matter.
This is a really good video and I learned a lot more about laning, but as a jungler who has to eventually be able to fight every laner and then typically be the one to engage team fights how're you suppose to itemize between 5 different champions?
as a new to lol i dont know what couters what and what to build in certein situation , but the 1st step is something i do to some extend even somethimes i will stay on tower with no mana just for the exp cuz to me feels like once you get the exp advantage the game gets way easier . i hope i learn even more from people like you keep the good job :)

Hey! I'll have you know that I do Torghast runs for fun. Especially when I get counterpicked in the top lane.
Fantastic video, Im D4 even tho i know this stuff its nice to be reminded but the biggest takeaway was from the last part you said which was trying to look at your strengths, and looking to look for enemy champ's weakness. Gotta be creative at times. I think that's beautiful because i have lost that touch of being creative. Nice how you guys turn the impossible to possible. Like there be times im having hard time as Sylas vs Cass or recently when i was Yasuo vs Anivia, and felt helpless. i guess strength of Yasuo would be being a good duelist and side laner since Anivia teamfight vs him is kinda outmatched. Also was nice how you guys highlighted itemization because really thought it be better for Rumble to just by oblivion or or zeekers , that being more reactive to the opponent but i guess looking at your own champs strenghts could be more in benefit which i have seen many times. i will try it definitely, and be more committed to champion identity as well as to read strengths and weaknesses of champs i play. Would be nice to see a high elo version of this D4+. Thank you Skill Capped!
If you had advantage, freeze and force trades. If youre countered, hold the wave and survive

for me its , if u have advantage freeze wave and try to poke as much as u can and kill the enemy when u get the chance and if you are countered then just play safe and farm under tower and wait for jungler to gank
I think this was an awesome video, though I'd have loved to see an example where the countered champ is melee vs a ranged character. Like how is singed supposed to deal with Akshan who can snipe me even when I'm farming under tower.
Freeze the wave in the middle or under your tower and chat/ping your jungler for a gank. Be patient cause in low elo they will have a slow response or non at all.
If you get no ganks, just try to build up your wave then crash and recall. Keep doing this for HP and Mana (also to buy items). Hope that your team is doing well on the other side and eventually you will get a gank.

The games I get a S+ on Trynd are the ones where I ban a Temmo one trick. They actually don’t know how to play top lane. They just know how to be an anti carry.

What she did the first 5 minutes. Take the safe cs and wait for it to crash eventually. Counter Matchups are not fun but they aren't impossible. Be patient and hope your team will carry you.
Well honestly IN the lane absolutely nothing, what kayle could probably do is to immediately treat the just frozen wave as a crashed wave and roam while still relevant and try to boost her jg or midlane forcing irelia to maybe follow or break the freeze. If she follows try to quickly break the freeze by crashing the wave top. If that doesnt work just pretty much perma roam, leech xp from your *own* lane take krugs occasionally, try to take top side enemy jg when drake is up. Idk man what im trying to say is youre pretty much doing all that you can to not be a minion.

So... what do you do vs a teemo who can poke you under tower or a garen who went straight for turret plate and get tickled by your damage?
i used this exact strat to climb from bronze to gold with kayle last season.

Learned this from going up against a Vayne as Trundle. You are basically sitting under tower doing whatever possible to CS while she pokes at you. You can get her to back off a bit with a very fast E>W>Q + turret shot if she hits you under tower but it’s not mana-efficient really. Besides that you’re just waiting for either your tower to be taken by their jungler + rift herald, waiting for your jungler to gank, or sitting until laning phase ends and Vayne starts roaming. It’s very boring but teaches discipline.
What should malhite look to do against the roaming Quinn? Try to waveclear and match the roam? you mentioned he doesn't take towers very well. and he is much more useful in the teamfight.
You know, I do this sometimes myself because I consider certain things an easy matchup, when so many people think it's really bad. For instance - Nasus vs any ranged top laner.
If you go phase rush with manaflow band, and extra cdr/damage, you can simply start doran's ring, start E, and keep spamming it on them+low HP minions for cs, giving you mana stacks, and decent farm.
Doing this will usually surprisingly force the lane to push to you, since they will aa you and minions every so often, forcing agro. Plus, your E damage is lower early game, so minions don't suffer much damage from it. From there, you can farm under tower while poking them with E, and jungle can easily gank you with the wither+phase rush combo.
I also use this strategy to consistently beat Darius, or any matchup I need to stay away from early.
What if the irelia decided to forgo crashing the wave and decided to back anyway? Would setting up the freeze still be possible?
I think the main problem in low elo is that players' mindset is often driven by "comon let's kill him already this is boring", instead of patiently farming safely.
That's why so many players lose tons of cs for chasing 20 HP Zed throughout the entire jungle. For that potential sweet sweet dopamine rush from getting a kill.

So I have a question for anyone out there that could help me. I've bern playing Illaoi since me getting her from the daily rewards and consider myself an Illaoi main. Mordekaiser is my Illaoi permaban because he is really annoyinh counter that renders you useless since he can take you away from your tentacles. But taking from this video Mordekaiser specializes in 1v1 while Illaoi is a really good teamfighter. So would I just have to force team fights?
can you do more support guides? cuz I think you've only made 10 support guides in total and I feel like you're mostly doing mid and jungle and anything else than support. I'm really struggling at climbing with thresh suppport

@@Etoka I think he was referring to the guy smurfing in the video and that relying on being much better than your opponent (e.g., in wave management) is not really a specific measure against counter picks.

Skillcapped always says information is king. I was fizz vs. vex the other day and my buddy told me vex counters. That piece of information led me to play the game entirely differently. I started off seeing how easily I could farm and it didn’t go so well. I tried to just not die, until I could get a good all in opportunity with vex on CD. I took the first chance, killed the wave, and took off to top to get a gank. Next I went to bot lane, same thing. Vex came back, I managed to get another all in, and from that point I went something like 16/4/? And we won. Information is definitely king, and a positive mindset can turn around any game
so, this works even with feeding supp, right?
I can confirm that... me as nasus often have bad matchups but still managed to get first kill on my enemy in lane because of him getting frustrated from me playing safe.
Yeah often i still loose cause i am not a good top laner, but the idea works and i am just missing beeing a good top laner outside laning phase.
Idk, as a Kayle (scaling lategame champ) and as a Quinn (ranged roaming champ) it's fairly easy to be fine in losing matchups.
In a Renekton vs Quinn matchup that's much harder. Quinn outranges him, Quinn is faster than him (so she can out-roam you) and she bullies you in lane with you not having a chance to kill her. On top of that you (Renekton) have a timer and fall off hard the longer the game goes and as a lanebully your champ is designed to get ahead in lane which you can't do. You can't cs under tower because Quinn just keeps poking either
But how do you play Kled into Fiora?
What about when your counter is a teemo, that doesn't let you farm undamaged even when you're under the tower?
Show the trynd Vs quinn with either glacial or phase rush matchup. I don’t believe it’s winnable for trynd unless he gets camped

Problem is diamond is only 2% of the playerbase, whereas plat and below is like 98% of the playerbase, so they have guides for those players as it's more likely to get views. Still tho many concepts from these vids can be used against high elo players. Like cheater recalls for example

When im a counter to my enemy i get excited af and make mistakes i would never do otherwise. This knowledge got me from gold to plat. Just w8 enemy is going to fuck shit up like you always do.

if ur going grasp or tanks vs camille irelia fiora riven etc. u can proc it freeze roam or push up for example sion yorick nasus mundo if you keep pushing a wave and destroy towers specifically u can win the game like that even if ur going0/12 as u ap[ply map pressure giving ur team an advantage
So, what do you do in a matchup where none of this works like a Gwen vs malphite. Because in my like, 3rd game of top lane ever I was doing the first tactic pretty much perfectly but he could still super poke from a mile away and I could never chase him to kill him
Your problem here is probably in your starting items and runes. Dorans shield plus an mr rune (and if needed some medling into the determination tree) really soften his poke by quite a large margin.

There's a lot that they've already produced if you're just starting out. I'd check out the Nama series (Bronze to Diamond), and anything in their catalog about Bot lane.

Its funny. I read all through an ap cho'gath guide, played him for the first time, and won agaisnt a Silver Darius, the matchup was hard, but the damage surprised him since I played safe for so long and just poked him down enough for my level 6 to kill him first, and get first kill in lane.

I get that if someone picks lane bully that counters you, you shoud just play safe under tower. But what should you do, if someone picks late carry hero like nasus/kayle when you are playing hyper tank like maokai? You can't play aggro and kill them, and playing safe will only benefit them.
Wow man I don't know what your rank is but don't underestimate tanks damage at early levels especially when you have almost the same stats... youre maokai right? Then you should know what those saplings are for then. You have a root and a small knock back.
If nasus pushes, punish, if he freezes, go for small traded, sapling-root-knockback-run to the bust to disable minion aggro

@@maricchichie3987 it is good strategy to counter nasus, if he is stupid enough to always stay near the bushes. It is too hard to push nasus to sapling if he always stays on the right side of the lane. Yeah, i can small trade with him even without sapling but the problem is, that he has his 12%(or 13% don't remeber exactly) lifesteal passive that neglates most of my damage. I don't underestimate damage of tanks and i know that tanks like ornn or cho'gath can crush you, but tanks that are rely on sustain rather than on damage can't do nothing about nasus. I'm plat by the way.
@@blexi4ek882 you are not supposed to win 1v1 against nasus. You should try to keep the wave in your side so your jungle can gank you and leave lane wherever possible to help your team to snowball game.
I can definitely see this working for top lane in a lot of cases, but in mid when I try to keep the wave frozen my lane roams and scores a double kill. I ping it off, but a lot of times I still get flamed for not rotating despite having a crashed wave at my tower. What's the best way to deal with this? An example match-up is lissandra vs victor. I can't out trade or keep up with his wave clear. I know mid prio is important, so should I just not first pick anyone with major counters?
i'm botlane, I see this happen
your pings are not really what we care about, we have eyes, we can see the map. they're helpful reminders at best but are not what will keep the game going. if everytime the viktor dips out of his lane for a fake roam or a b and you mad ping us, at some point I'm gonna have to take that risk and make my plays in my lane because, you know, game won't win itself, and there's only so many wards I can plop down if i have to ward out the zac also.
What however does help is warding with an almost religious fervor. Make sure you always have a pink on the map, preferably to the side you think viktor is going to be looking to roam to (likely bot). Coordinate with your support and jungler for wards if possible. If i'm your support in your game i'll love you for it
also in lower elo it is especially helpful if you detail these things as the game starts, cause people won't know. Your botlane may legitimately not understand that viktor is a pushing machine. When i was still in gold or something and playing toplane I'd specify precisely that my lane is going to be rough, when and how my jungler can gank, and I'd keep mad track of enemy Tp for my bot making sure they know exactly what's going down. Forget pinging their flashes and TP, go back to oldfashioned timing, Darius TP 0930 and reminder when it's back up.

How about a no gap closer top lane vs a teemo/vayne/jhin or even an anivia top? Where they just zone you off exp and farm
They can't zone you out of exp under your tower. Stay under tower, wait for 6/a gank and then kill them
@@giannisr.7733 Above gold they freeze lanes, that is the main objective as a top lanner. Freezing and zoning enemy top off exp range so it becomes a 5v4 game. To top it off vayne/ Teemo/ Jhin can right click you or use abilities while not taking tower shots at all, other melee champions like Darius, Pantheon, Tahm even llaoi can do this too. At this point junglers might even decide not to help top, since the time invested and risk involved outweights helping mid and bot lane.
And you cant "bounce" the wave (pushing the wave to enemies tower) early game so that the next wave will meet closer on your side as effectively as playing on mid since the lanes are longer.
I feel like top lane is decided on pick phase (who counter picks who) as long as the counter picker manages his wave perfectly.
Here the thing. Buying grievous is not a bad idea. Its 800G. And WW wouldn't be able to heal as much, off his poke on you. And it can sit in your items slots all game. I would have seen what the over all enemy team looks like, and bought boots compared to them. If it is a heavy auto attack enemy team, steel caps, if there is alot of cc, mercs, if there is a little of both but nothing too dominate, then sorc boots.
Also not to mention that every single one of those game, SOMEONE ELSE WAS REALLY FED.
The kayle game. The Eve jg was fed, and so if kayle still lost this lane. Eve can still one shot irelia. And the game is winnable without kayle in the game.
The zed in that garen vs Camille game was 13-1, and ended that dragon fight going 16-1.
The Quinn vs Malphite, The vlad was 2-1 and ended the fight bot lane going 5-1.
Stop talking about how to win lane in a losing matchup, when your team can carry you ass to victory.
How about show us a game where no one is winning on your team and then win your game that way. THAT WOULD BE MORE REALISTIC TO LOWER ELOS.

What about botlane? Where you cant freeze against 2 champions since there are always abilities to punish you, never any cooldowns to abuse.
imagine Kai'Sa + Maokai vs Jhin+Zyra, what the hell can I do as kaisa? If maokai ever attempts to engage, we lose 2v2. His poke is useless if they stay away from the bush. Freezing/holding wave is impossible. How do you play losing botlane matchups?
Your strength in that matchup is your engage post level 6. You should not try to harrass zyra/jhin early, but you can fight them post level 6. Both of you can get on top of either jhin or zyra with your ultimates. Dont go for a hyper scaling build. Instead, opt for an earlier and cheaper powerspike. Maokai is pretty potent at diving as well. Slow pushes are your friends and if you can set up bush control with saplings thats a + as well, cause you can dip in and out to maybe freeze a wave in front of tower which you otherwise wouldnt be able to hold.
@@faselfasel2864 See that's a great plan and mentality but I'm too impatient and will feel terrible giving up farm so by the time I hit 6, Maokai is flaming me, I'm flaming our jungler for letting them push 7 waves in a row to tower, and we are both 0/3/1.

@@miladsammouh4741 You have to think about scaling and teamcomps. How are 2v2s playing out later. How are dragon fights gonna look as 4v4s. How are 5v5s gonna look? If Maokai opts to go tanky after mandate, you need to give him some time to scale, cause he wont be tanky after first item, which means either way you are looking at a 25+ minutes game with that matchup when you want to win, unless ridiculous things happen in mid/top/jungle. Jhin hits his power spikes much earlier than you and zyra does as well. If you take a step back, you realize that your job here is to keep up in farm as best as possible, keep as much tower platings alive as you can and not die to lose xp. It's not a problem that they will eventually take your tower or get 20cs ahead, as long as you farm and get xp. Give the enemy a chance to make mistakes :)
Maybe the jungler should have assisted on pushing the wave in especially on the failed gank.
Irelia should type help me shove and ping for assistance.
imagine this game, but instead your team is 3/0 its the other way around and when you are about to 'win' your lane after being countered, the mid/botlane already finished the game.
I think it's funny how to first step to win against a heavy counter pick is to play against players significantly worse than you
What if the match up is worse u even can't take any Cs at all even try go for melee minion last hit u lose a lot hp, what u do now???u don't get any Cs until minions come to ur Lane??? What if that match enemy still have range advange and ability to non stop poke u even if u go last hit under ur tower? What's solution for this match up?????

Played the kayle (me) irelia matchup yesterday, super fun! She froze the wave and stood infront of it as soon as she could so I couldn't even get xp. At level 6 she dove me under tower with ignite and instakilled me and kept freezing the entire laning phase. Even when I got r she just baited it and went in just after since she was always two levels ahead aswell as me getting zero gold. How was i supposed to counter that. If you are wondering, yes my jungler tried to break freeze once but died in the proccess and never touched top again. What is the counterplay to this?
I realise i should be able to somehow prevent a freeze, but im only gold and I shouldn't know perfect wave managing just to be able to play the game

You should do that in a matchup like renekton vs Quinn, where the Quinn player can win without having brainor skill
Why are you playing renekton without banning quinn? Its literally his only unplayable matchup.

Everything is situational. Get every free last hit you can, but don't lose a ton of health just to get a single caster minion (especially in a bad matchup where you can get punished easily).
ok hows about irelia crashes wave level 3, cheater recalls, freezes a few waves until her elise comes up to dive with stacked wave

Sounds like fun, but at 3 minutes my jungler has usually fed my laner 4 kills so it's not quite how things go

I am still wondering how to behave when the opponent does let the wave push back to them and then freeze. This does happen in lower plat as well. In high elo a jungler may help you to break the freeze, however in my games that happened exactly 0 times, even when asked. I usually go and farm jungle or stay waaay back and hopefully leech some exp. If you have a roaming champ you could try and do that, but most of the time it's just seeing how my gold is being denied in front of my eyes :)
I'm surprised your jungler never helps you. Anyway I think you should just avoid blind picking weak champions if you wanna have fun on toplane
