I agree that since the update the controls felt terrible. I turned off aim boost in shoulder aim and aim down sights. This made a world of difference for me. Eliminating all of those variables and just playing with x and y sensitivity worked well.
I wish I could I have thought about getting rid of it and just messing with the input curves on the dualsense edge but I have found some settings that work somewhat well for me that I can live with currently.
I also use the edge. It took me a week messing around with the settings to realize that it's so much more consistent to eliminate the aim boost. Best of luck with the settings side quest lol.
This is why I gave up on the game 4 years ago. Spent like 50 hours building muscle memory and meticulously tweaking settings, and just as I was getting comfortable with it, an update set me back to zero. I can't believe they're still doing this shit.
The worst thing is they nuke your custom settings too like you finally get a setup where it feels half decent and then an update drops and it’s all back at default
Devs aren’t too smart. They made aiming worse than ever. And oh yeah the trades are even worse than before. But hopefully they add back aim boost for y axis
We do, if you turn the aim boost off you just have your x and y axis and that’s it. But the nice thing is aim boost is supposed to help you have a feel like mnk (I play on pc also and obviously nothing on controller will feel like mnk). So it dynamically changes your sensitivity basically. Which is nice but now it’s not 😅 best way to think about it is like how they made it to where you can’t wiggle so much when reviving teammates (you would get a penalty and it would make you slow) imagine that when you were just actually aiming that’s what it feels like lol 😅
Yeah before they BUFFED aim assist Pre-Mammoth Gulch, the fine tuning for Sensitivity was perfect imo. It could be better in its current state. I use no Aim Assist.

The Y-axis issue is one thing they got wrong, but that's not the main reason everything feels so bad right now. The real problem is the sensitivity curve itself. It's difficult to explain without showing graphics, but I'll try. Normally, when you move your stick by, say, 1%, your rotation speed increases by 1% (just as an example, there's more to it, but I'll leave that aside). In Hunt right now, when you move your stick by 1%, your rotation speed jumps to around 20%. This makes it impossible to aim smoothly. That's why everyone is lowering their settings.
As far as I’m aware the curves are working just fine, they did tweak some of the input curves so you might need to change them. I played on linear before this update and for whatever reason exponential feels like how linear used to be. I’ve had others tell me the same thing.
@@itzcyclonez Well, if you prefer to play with a linear setting, you won't really have a curve, so you might not notice it. Back in the day, they introduced four types (I’m not sure of the exact English names): Linear, Exponential, a mix between Exponential and Linear, and Dynamic (an S-curve). Since Hunt’s console release, it had a Linear option. Linear works well for mouse input but not for controllers. So, they added the boost feature to simulate a curve. With the introduction of the Exponential curve, it became possible to get a feel similar to playing COD (though they didn’t explain it well).
If you want to test the curve, just remove the boost completely. Set your speed using only the normal sensitivity settings. Then experiment with different curves. I’m sure you’ll notice that none of the curves allow for precise aiming. The best option right now is the S-curve. The same bug exists, but it’s less noticeable because of how the S-curve is designed.
Is there a setting I can change to compensate? I noticed it after the update, had a player come down a hill in front of me and my reticle shot 3 feet past them, had to readjust and got shot...is it this issue? Or is my horizontal sensitivity too high? I've always had some issue with precision aiming on console, so, any/all relevant tips are welcome!!
Unfortunately the only way to “compensate” is to turn off the aim boost and get used to that. If you are aiming and go past someone when trying to aim at them constantly then ya I would say your sens is a lil too fast. I found the exponential curve is working better for me this update as well.
I just turned all aim boost off except for lowered its at a 3x. Shouldered and ADS are off and i just play like im always quick scoping. ie. Try to center them in the crosshairs before ADSing...and i actually turned my Y axis down even more while adsing so i could have more precise headshots
Yeah I always played with a slower y axis especially for ads. Right now I found some settings with aim boost that work for me but I should probably experiment to see if I can find something I like without aim boost
@@itzcyclonez yeah I meant console and that's about the extent of what we can get, even after 1000 hours it still doesn't seem like I'll ever be able to disable the melee button cuz they still haven't given us custom controls even after the engine upgrade which I'm pretty sure they promised they would.
My aim always jumps around the player to the left or the right. Ive tried to play around with the settings and cant find anything that is smooth for me. Im on ps5
Great idea if you either like taking 2 years to turn around when someone runs up on you or you like being unable to make fine adjustments to combat sway from standing ADS.
@@1nfamyX your arguments are true, but only in theory, if you would have played with no boost, you knew your arguments no problem.... i play with boost off since they added boost adjustment in the menu and i have zero aiming problem.
@@thomford230 you "have zero aiming problem" but you cannot aim as fast & accurately as i could prior to 1896. You can yap all day about preferences but if i tell you that its possible to aim with the D-Pad youll quickly realize how absurd & irrelevant the argument of possibility is. You can play this game without aiming at all, but thats not the point.
No problem, hopefully we get more clarity and answers soon. If I get wind of anything I’ll make an update. This makes the most sense to me especially as to why they aren’t making it a priority to making a change/toggle right away.
Linear is not optimal for controller. You can yap all day about "why not this" or "i prefer this" but conceptually linear applies a 1% of the max turning speed when you move the stick 1% of its max throw. Except you cannot do that, even a robot cannot do that. Deadzone is often bigger than 5%. Only exponential based curves & aimboost allow you to turn fast & still be able to make small adjustments.
The only "work around" I would say is to find sensitivity settings that work the best for you with aim boost completely disabled. so all aim boost values would be 0 in your settings for each state (Lowered, Shoulder, and Aim Down Sight). Just note that the Input curve will still affect your aim so that's preference.
It's not that simple lol otherwise I would be doing that. The problem you then run into is not being able to do fast movements like 180s and fine tune accuracy for distance because you have the same sensitivity throughout the entirety of the right sticks movement.
with all the cheaters? no thanks. its not just for Hunt but every other FPS multiplayer that has a bad anti cheat. I turn my boost off, thought it would make it go too fast when ads. I rather have a consistent speed. My ads is 0.40 for both X and Y.
Yeah we have a similar sensitivity for ads, I just haven't found a good sens for my hip/holster without aim boost which is why I still have it on.

I heard that Gyro can compete with mouse and Keyboard, that would be cool to see it in Hunt.
