He told this story and it literally saved my life in the mid 90s. I did a self exam and couldn’t shake the feeling that something was wrong despite local doctors telling me it was a “hydroseal or hermataseal”. Eventually resolved but if I didn’t trust my body I wouldn’t be typing this. True story

He made me a Phillies fan and I idolized him as a teen. I knew this story. Still, it's pretty scary. Something guys should be mindful of and props to Kruk for getting it out there.

Love him too. In June, my husband was diagnosed with colon cancer. To cheer him up, I got him a Cameo with Kruk. I explained to him that my husband had just been diagnosed and while he is expected to be 'fully cured', he was still nervous/worried. 4 days later, I received the video from Kruk to my husband. I was dying to watch it but waited until I went to the hospital the following day to watch with my hsuband. (it was s surprise) I can't begin to tell you how incredible the video was. Kruk talked about his cancer battle, was VERY encouraging to my husband, cracked some jokes. Husband had a smile on his face watching. And then...doesn't Kruk go and invite us to a Phillies game as his guests! My husband let out a gasp, I kept saying 'Oh my God' over and over again. We were stunned...and SO excited. Kruk said we could even bring our dog along to the game! lol. (The video was from me and our dog...) On Cameo, you can send a message to the celeb directly. After inviting us to a game, he said he removed the fee for contacting him so I wouldn't have to pay to do it and I should message him when we decide what game to attend. We weren't able to go this season, unfortunately. ( Told my husband we should tell him we want to go to a World Series game as his guest! lol) Hopefully next year we'll make it. Love Kruk. He's a wonderful, caring guy. Does a lot of charity work as well.

Came close to crossing paths with him. We lived 25 miles apart. Our high schools did play against each other but I don't know if we were both on the field together. I pitched and he was a year or two younger. We played for the same Community College, he after I left. We were supposed to be on the same summer league team the year he got drafted. I think I saw him at a bar in his home town but I didn't push the issue to introduce myself.
Great guy. Great player. Funny as heck.

There's been a lot of characters in baseball. But only one John Kruc. He said it best. I'm not a athlete. I'm a baseball player. And what a player he was. Krucy was nails. A very good hitter and awesome interview.
