On our Carnival Dream cruise we were suppose to stop at the port of Costa Maya Mexico but there was a huge disappointment. Find out what happened and leave a comment on how you would feel in this situation.

That would be so disappointing. True, Costa Maya isn't a great port. However, missing any port is a bummer. I'm so sorry. It seemed you all had favorable docking position as well. Oh well. Next time, right? Thanks for a great video!

Yes! Agree those huevos rancheros in the blue iguana are the best breakfast on carnival hands down. My favorite and the line is always pretty short, shhhh don’t give away our secret haha 😂.

In my opinion, you really didn't miss much at Costa Maya except for the long walk to the port itself and the many, many people at the port. I've cruised on the Dream three times and have loved it every time. I heard Andy the cruise director making the announcement about the ship not docking there at port, he is awesome! As for the shows, I wish that Carnival would update their shows on the ships. It seems like most of them going out of Galveston have the same Playlist Production shows going on and even though they're different performers it still is tiring seeing the same shows every cruise. I'm a karaoke person myself and was glad that the Dream has the new setup for karaoke. Kim with a K is a great karaoke hostess. Enjoy the rest of your trip! :)
Yes last time we were there the port was over crowded. 4 ships at port and two of them were mega ships
We loved Costa Maya. Hopefully you'll get there soon.
Costa Maya is nice we have been there several times but this was the second time we had to skip the port
We love the sushi bar on the ships!

You didn’t miss a thing. Costa maya is the biggest flaw in the western Caribbean. It looks more like a fuel station for cruises. Totally a dump place.

We got on Carnival Dream on my birthday May 12 through May 18 and didn't get to stop in Costa Maya due to the weather but booked Carnival Jubilee for September hopefully we will be able to go at that time. Nice video by the way. #thuggizzle

One of the other ships was Carnival too. Oh well, safety first.
We had the opposite happened when we went on Icon of the Seas. A Carnival ship was already docked there, and we couldn't lock because of high swells, so it could happen to even Icon! I've got a video on my channel about that.

We were on the Dream at Thanksgiving and really enjoyed the ship!

Sailing in November already planning to stay on board the ship for spa day.
If there are 4 ships at port that day I would also stay on board
We just got back Saturday from that same cruise on the Dream. We also didn’t port at Costa Maya. We knew we weren’t going to because we were watching ship finder and saw Icon of the Seas turn around as they were supposed to be there that day also.
It seems to be a norm here lately

Costa maya is great we really love it. Belize is a usual excursion location for us.

We were on mardis gras that day and watched from the pool bar in Costa Maya

I was on the Dream the first of April and we didn’t dock in costa maya either. Said weather was the reason. Said the other ships there got there earlier than the 1:00pm dock time. A rumor on our cruise was it was the young Italian captain. Wonder what his track record is of not docking in costa maya. Might be a good video.

We were on a Holland America cruise that had to skip Turks and Caicos because of wind. If the ship had gotten out of control we would have taken the dock out. Safety first is ok with me and fortunately we were B2B so we hit it the next time through.

We cruised on the dream in November/December of last year with the same itinerary. It was not a good experience. We aren't giving up cruising because of it but we will not ever be booking on the Dream again.
The Dream is okay but it would rank low on all the cruising we have done. If the price is cheap enough I would still go on the Dream. But if other ships are the same price I would probably pick another ship especially if it is a new one for us
I was on the Dream last August and was able to dock. I'm curious what's different looks about the same though.

Wow… so many people recently have said the same thing it’s becoming a problem
It’s so suspicious! Twice we’ve been scheduled to port at Costa Maya and twice it’s been canceled, due to unfavorable conditions. Those seas look so calm. Seems like something else is up Costa Maya.
A lot of people are wondering. When 4 ships are there at the same time it’s way over crowded and people don’t like it. I wonder if that has something to do with it
I was on the jubilee about a month or so ago and this same situation happened to us! We were so close to land and they turned around and left. I’m not sure what is going on with this port but I would say they should take it off the list. I’m in plenty of facebook groups that have said that have had the same outcome. It’s such a let down!
They should start building a second pier for sure

The icon does not look that big from your ship view.
I would call bull..... bigger ships are harder to dock in heavy winds. They probably had no one to tie up the ship.
Or they wanted us to stay on the ship to spend more money. Hmmm
We had rougher seas with NCL and docked without issue.
Yep. We have docked with worse water at the same port as well
@@FowlerFamilyFun Sometimes it is about what you can't see, you don't know the currents under the water. We once missed Grand Turk and the weather wasn't too bad, but the currents would have made docking dangerous.
I was on the Harmony of the Seas last month and same thing with us, we pulled up and couldn't dock so it turned into a sea day.
Yeah it’s bummer, but any day on a ship is better then a day at work
Just got off the Mardi Gras last week
Never been on the Mardi Gras I’m sure it’s as good as the Jubilee

We've seen the result when a ship tries to dock there in even mild seas. Carnival I think Magic hit the dock doing a lot of damage to it.

That’s pathetic. Had absolutely nothing to do with safety. All they care about is profit and they just saved tons of money by not docking.
Something needs to be done about ships purposely bypassing destinations when it’s truly not a safety hazard.
You should get some type of refund.
