I replaced the V-types with Creamback G12H75s in an SV20 plexi and the amp went from 'pretty good amp, man ' to 'i can't believe how amazing, authentic and musical this 20 watt bundle of fucking joy is now". No hyperbole.
I'm loving these graphs! A combination of G12M (thick rhythm) and G12 Neo (the mix-cutter).......but a combination of G12M and G12H for full sounding rhythm would be perfect. Maybe a 4x12 with G12H/M on the bottom and two G12 Neo's on the top. Thanks for the making the effort. I've been on binge tonight.
Another great video that helped me decide what I would replace T-75s in my Marshall cab with. I got that cab used a few years ago without knowing much about the differnt kinds of speakers (I played combo amps for years) and I never liked the high end of the T-75s (they get harsh easily) and I found them too boomy and they are quite scooped (bought that cab used a few years ago and it dates back to 2003 or 2004 but was in pristine condition). After hearing a ton of shootouts, I went with two H75 Creambacks and 2 V30s in X pattern. That is a killer mix that instantly gave me a more balanced tone with much more present and cleaner mids and much less flubby low end and the fizziness of the T75s is gone! The cab sounds great with clean, crunch and higher gain. I run a Revv Dynamis 7-40 into it and it sounds round and clear. Hearing close comparisons likein in this video really helped. Thank you!
@@codymcgrew4015 obviously you like both warmth and chime at the same time, as me. It's a matter of your budget, mainly. What is the rest of your rig and the genres you play?
@@georgefromgreece4119 I like mostly Post-Punk and Post-Hardcore stuff, but my favorite bands are Nirvana, Fugazi, The Jesus Lizard, Big Black. But primarily, I just love thick, yet clear, rhythm guitar (power chords, line leads, etc.)
@@georgefromgreece4119 I play a Marshall DSL40C (old model) And a Fender Blackface Bassman ‘65 (inspired by Nirvana haha) I’ve got a Mesa Boogie Studio Preamp recently (also inspired by Cobain) and I’m looking to buy a cabinet. If I do a 2x12, I’ll probably go with two Alnico Creams to get enough wattage going. If I do a 4x12, I’ll probably do H Creambacks coupled with either the 75Hz or 55Hz Greenbacks. What about you??
Of all of them, I prefer the Creambacks (M, H and Neo), Greenbacks and the Alnico's, although none of these speakers sounds bad and the H Creamback mixes well with all.
I have a cab with two Greenback 25's on top and two Creamback 75's on the bottom in a 412 cab. Sounds huge when opened up. Saying that, mixing with a G12 75's was pretty amazing with hard rock/metal.
Great videos! Just keep in mind the "EQ hangover" that you perceive for a few seconds when switching immediately from speaker to speaker. Listen to a darker speaker and all of a sudden your favorite Creamback sounds too harsh and brittle immediately after. Listen to a brighter sounding speaker and now your favorite Creamback sounds dull and lifeless immediately after. Taking a quick pause between will remedy this. Keep up the great work!
I paired the Blackbird with an ET 90 a while back and it is louder than WGS which takes a support role filling out the mids and gives it an airy bright addition to the high frequencies of the rounded-off high end of the blackbird and the blackbird gives you the lower bass frequencies. It would be interesting to hear it with some Celestions.
As always, adding weight extends the bass and mid high to high high response, and fills the low mids and the middle mids. It's a more of anything boost, but this doesn't really apply to all frequency ranges equally. The same in its basic principle stands true for cabinets, guitars, anything. It's material/ sound mechanics.
The G12H30 sounds really good. I thought the Creamback was my favorite Celestion but the Heritage is just a bit clearer and less boxy in the mid range.
I very much like these 21 speaker shootouts. They are very helpful when one is trying to choose a speaker combination. Please do a 21 speaker shootout using the Alnico Gold as the speaker of main focus. I currently have an Alnico Cream paired with an Alnico Gold in a Vox AC30 and I have found that I don't like the Cream in this application. A shootout with the Gold would be fantastic! Thanks!
This video bears out my experience. I have a 212 loaded with H75 CBs and it sounds really bright and harsh. I’m hoping that mixing another speaker will help.
Did you end up finding a speaker you like paired with the H75? I’ve got a 2x12 myself right now loaded with two H75 CB. And I’m torn. I definitely feel there’s room for improvement swapping one of them out.
@@piercedswitch Do you like the V30's better? Also what kind of amp are you using? What amp?/ wattage?/ matched or matchless impedance? Just curious because if your running them in a 2x12 8ohms outa the head is implied. But 4x12 changes things.
To me best combo was with the alnico blue, then century and v type for some reason. Mixed with itself sounded cool too but a little out of phase, could it be?
The best mix I heard was a G12H75 creamback and a G12H30 in a victory vertical 212 (nearly compact cab), it blown me away, perfect match for maximum dynamic and headroom!
