    Thanks for building this cabin and sharing it. It’s nice to see one made with a smaller diameter log, and little carving to fit the corners in this butt and pass. It turned out pretty sweet!

    Im a former Montana wilderness guide. Im surprised by how many people neglect to gather wood and get a fire going FIST! Injuries do HAPPEN. One may not be ABLE to gather wood, and with night approaching a fire could be a life saver. I ALWAYS did this at every site I planned spending the night. Remember this, and get that FIRE going first. It's better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it. Camp safe.. GREAT VIDEO

      @Drrayoldman...
      If you will notice, he doesn't actually NEED a fire, right now. I mean, he's working outside in a short sleeve t-shirt, so obviously he doesn't need one. Stop telling people how to do things! You do NOT know everything, just because you worked previously in the wilderness! 🙄🤦🏻‍♂️😡

    • @Drrayoldman

      @@BEV0323 I don't tell ppl what to do. I educate ppl on how to survive, as I have been caught in sudden snowstorms and forced to survive for days. I instruct people on how to keep alive. Trust me, if you were to be lost in the wilderness due to a broken-down bus, you'd be damn thankful I was on the bus. I'll spare you the list of celebs and important ppl I've taken into the mountains for 10 days at a time and how they returned knowing a lot more than before they went in.

      You people and you GD fires. You don't need a fire to survive in the woods. Idiots are so stuck on omg You have to make a fire. Hahaha. Ignorant fools. If you needed a fire to survive we wouldn't be here today because your ancestors would be dead. Dumb ass, oh I was a guide in Montana and and we taught our clients to make a fire. Teach them how to pack the right gear moron.

    Love watching this guy. Super beneficial knowledge. Making a small cabin has been something I have wanted to do for a while now. I'm not going quite that primordial. I would have solar and gas generated power. It's on a farm that is in the middle of gods country. Plenty of old growth woods,ferns,and a creek. Plus it's my families land too. Working out everything in my head and plan on giving it a go cause I'm tired of this shit.

    Nice job, pretty structure. I like the covered porch, very practical. I would screen it in as the mosquitoes and black flies plus all their friends go for me, from the West Coast to Ontario. Moss roof is a nice touch. I would add some sort of shutters to cover the windows and a more skookum door (bears). My family has built a number of cabins out here in BC over the past 100 years, from little ones to big, and all have been loved.

    east of Toronto here, and that's pretty much my dream. In Ontario, there's a slight issue with jacked prices for land, and if you could purchase, to build cabins, you'd have to be in an unorganized township (avoid permits/inspections). Working on it... but it looks like I'd have to win the lottery first. Great job! Just subscribed.

    Очень прохладная будка для хранения инструмента... Но красивая. А замок на двери - просто огонь!🔥

    How moist can the wood be when processing?

    • @backwoodssolitude
      @backwoodssolitude  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'm not sure of a percentage but I find that logs with a diameter of 5 or 6 inches need at least 2 months of drying time whereas 8 or 10 inch logs need a full year.

    Cool and unique cabin, roughly how many pine trees did you have to use?

    No foundation of any kind? Was it in a previous video? Is it just four rocks?

    Great job, I love it!!!! Probably a stupid question but, why do you put moss on the roof and between the logs. Won't that cause bugs to get inside ur cabin?? Tyfs God bless

    • @backwoodssolitude
      @backwoodssolitude  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Moss on the roof protects tarp from sun, dampens sound for things like rain, provides some insulation, provides camouflage from overhead and looks nice. Between the logs is for insulation. I guess some small bugs may live in it but it helps prevent larger ones from coming in and stops mosquitoes. Thank you for the comment

      It took 5 or 6 months, but lots of drying time is on there. Thanks for the tip on the music, I was up in the air on that lol.
