Please use the term "the Americas" instead of "the New World". Natives in the US have been pointing out for decades now how offensive "New World" is to them. Willerslev should know better.
Need thick skin. Dont you know if you tell the Europeans that something offends you they will start using that word to offend you on purpose? USA Europeans are the only people on earth who dont respect other cultures bc they have no attachment to their ancestral homelands or culture.
Far more find new World offensive and yes there are those that prefer other terms such as turtle Island. But no question the term The America's is the most common.
I never realized that Danes sound like Arnold Schwarzenegger. I always supposed that they would sound like Swedes or Norwegians.

Good intentions on your part, but the word “America” is an adaptation of “Amerigo”, from the Italian merchant Amerigo Vespucci.
