This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my TH-cam channel 8 months ago about self development. Now I have 890 subs and > 700 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I could haven’t learned without getting started in the 1st place.

Recently, I uploaded my longest video not too long ago, which is about an hr long and it doubled the number of my subs and watch time hours and most of all, I've been impacting more lives positively and this is the best part of it all. I created this to share my opinion about these main things that truly impacted the way I live and how I became a minimalist. It's the one most vulnerable videos that I had been hesitant to post for many months because of the fear of being misunderstood but I finally decided to overcome that fear so others can learn from my experience so we can all grow together. Remembering my why's is much more important than the analytic growth. Sometimes I get trapped in focusing on any external rewards from this channel to the point that it paralyzes me from taking actions and I think this is what makes most people not even start at all.

I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of health if I didn’t get sick. I wouldn’t have realized the importance of real love if I haven’t witnessed my parents’ relationship slowly fall apart. I wouldn’t have appreciated the importance of mindful money consumption if I wasn’t broke. I wouldn’t have appreciated the growth of my TH-cam channel if I didn’t start at 0.
I just started my channel and I’m not gonna give up on it. I have reached over 300 subscribers and the feeling is amazing to see how much of an accomplishment that number is. Don’t give up I know you can do it, for me it was a rough start but once I found what my niche was I stuck with it.

I got paid $114 USD after a few months of becoming monetized. I had trouble getting my channel approved for years, but it finally came through earlier this year. It was really hard work. I don’t recommend doing TH-cam for money. Be glad if you get any monetary return from it.

Can you make a separate video on the tax portion and walk us through the whole process? I heard it's different than just filing yearly as a regular job. Can you teach us how to file taxes, how often, and what to consider? I've never filled out a tax form myself and this is something I would like to learn more about. If you're not comfortable with showing your yearly earning you can just enter random numbers for teaching purposes. I just want to know how to fill out a tax form from a TH-camr's pov. I want to know what forms we need, how to file quarterly, on which lines, and what forms do we put the income earning so when someday I get monetized, I can substitute my earning amount from what I learned from this video? I just don't want to file wrong and end up owing etc. Btw I really enjoyed your video, it was informative, clear, honest, and transparent.

the downside is that adsense only pays you once a month. if you have patreon, from what i researched and understood, is that you can withdraw your patreon balance whenever you like or you can wait for the automatic-5th-of-the-month payout if you have that option enabled. you can also keep the funds in your balance for a later date.

Also a Canadian youtuber here! I’ve been monetized for a few years, and the nice thing about having lots of videos is passive income, as you said. I’ve been on a break for the past few months and I haven’t really posted any videos, but I’m still earning 70-120$ per month based on passive income. Whenever I post a video, I get a spike in my earnings, so the more I post the more money I earn. But knowing even on break you can generate some income from your past efforts is great

Don't give up! It's harder in the beginning because before you are monetized, TH-cam isn't recommending your channel at all and only the people who stumble upon your channel by search or chance (that's me, the weirdo searching "small Canadian TH-camrs" at 4AM), people you know or gave the link to or, something i love, putting channel stickers around town (but that is an investment). Keep making videos and have fun!! 💜

At first I thought this was going to be one of those "it took me so long.. a whole 6 months to become monetized!" videos😒 lol Turns out it's highly relatable. Only difference is I hit the watch hours first before taking a break. I actually needed the break, but unfortunately those watch hours took a big hit with that break (of course) and now that I finally crossed the sub mark it's been the hardest thing to get the watch hours back. But I'm not stopping for anything this time. I'm actually about to start making more content with some branding projects. Thanks for sharing your story!

wow this was so helpful as I’m trying to meet both goals this year (hopefully)! I’m currently having the opposite problem that you had. I posted my 1st video ever on Dec 28 of 2022, and my 3rd video “blew up”, it currently has 47k views. That got me a LOT of watch hours and probably about ~180 subscribers if I had to guess. So now my problem is, I’m over halfway through my watch hours (2,228) but I only have 219 subscribers…so if I get 1 more very highly-viewed or 2 pretty highly-viewed videos I’ll probably have the watch hours required but likely not the subscribers…do you have any tips for getting more subscribers haha? Thanks for making this video, it was really informative!

Just subbed, thank you for the transparency! I've been going at the TH-cam game for over 2 years and its seeming like it'll never happen. Hearing you say that it took you time makes me feel less afraid of just pushing through and keeping going and it'll happen one day.

Don't give up! It's harder in the beginning because before you are monetized, TH-cam isn't recommending your channel at all and only the people who stumble upon your channel by search or chance (that's me, the weirdo searching "small Canadian TH-camrs" at 4AM), people you know or gave the link to or, something i love, putting channel stickers around town (but that is an investment). Keep making videos and have fun!! 💜

At first I thought this was going to be one of those "it took me so long.. a whole 6 months to become monetized!" videos😒 lol Turns out it's highly relatable. Only difference is I hit the watch hours first before taking a break. I actually needed the break, but unfortunately those watch hours took a big hit with that break (of course) and now that I finally crossed the sub mark it's been the hardest thing to get the watch hours back. But I'm not stopping for anything this time. I'm actually about to start making more content with some branding projects. Thanks for sharing your story!

I’m currently having the opposite problem that you had. I posted my 1st video ever on Dec 28 of 2022, and my 3rd video “blew up”, it currently has 47k views. That got me a LOT of watch hours and probably about ~180 subscribers if I had to guess. So now my problem is, I’m over halfway through my watch hours (2,228) but I only have 219 subscribers…so if I get 1 more very highly-viewed or 2 pretty highly-viewed videos I’ll probably have the watch hours required but likely not the subscribers…do you have any tips for getting more subscribers haha?
