    Yo boys, just some info on formula 1, It's a sport that has circuits all over the world. They're a total of 10 teams with 2 drivers for each team, So not only do you have a teammate to help you on the track but you're also against your teammate to finish the race in the highest position possible for points. Top 10 drivers out of the 20 on track gets points at the end of each race.

    Yeah that last crash was horrific. Romain Grosjean's car went head-first into the barrier and broke in half, the front half punching right through the barrier. The fuel tank (which was full, this was lap 1) located behind the driver ruptured and dumped all the fuel all over the front half of the car and the barrier. Fortunately he escaped with only minor burns to his hands and ankles and fully recovered, but he says the Halo saved his life as it saved his head from being chopped off when the car went through the barrier... He went on after this to race in IndyCar.

  • @wynndoughs
    @wynndoughs 2 ปีที่แล้ว +87

    a lot of modern F1 crashes look much worse than they really are, because the cars are built to break apart in case of an accident, so that the forces from the accident will go through the car to break it apart rather than through the driver's body
    Grosjean's crash specifically though, really was as scary as it looked for everyone involved

    They go up to 230 miles an hour. But they craziest part is how fast they can take corners resulting in 5-6g sometimes almost fighter pilot like. Thats why its much harder they have to way more precise braking winning or losing them time, there are way more turns they gotta absolutly nail because if u turn at the wrong moment with 200mph there isnt any correcting it anymore and also they gotta be way more precise with throttle so they dont spin a 1500 pond car with more then 1000hp. These arent the fastest cars on earth in a straight line but nothing out there beats it on the track because of how rediculously fast it takes corners

    Great content. Well to answer some of your questions. Yes it's way harder than Nascar. The cars are aerodynamic and they are trying to be as light as possible so that means the drivers has to be in an amazing shape and keep lower but healthy weight. They have to have a lot of core strenght because if they don't have it when breaking their whole body will move forward, their head will slam into the steering wheel, you know physics and that. F1 pitstops can have 3 people on each corner of the car. Nowadays it takes them less than 2 and a half seconds to change all 4 tires, the record is 1.82 seconds... F1 pitstops are crazy quick these days...

      The amount of split-second decisions an F1 driver has to make, compare to a Nascar driver is greatly different too.

    Top speed at Monza (fastest track on the calendar, in Italy) ~225mph, but straight line speed isn't the incredible thing about F1 cars, the cars have ~1,000BHP and only weigh 750kg but they carry a lot of drag from the aero that is on the cars, what is insane, and unrivaled in Motorsport, is the cornering speeds, most corners are taken at speeds faster than you'd drive down the Motor/Free-way at, the Slowest corner on the calendar, Loews Hairpin in Monaco is still taken at 30mph (this corner is so tight they have to use special steering racks just for this track).
    There are (in current format) 10 Teams, each with 2 Drivers, so 20 Cars on track. What is interesting is that, while the Drivers compete with every other Driver (team mates included) for the Drivers Championship, they also have to play a Team role for the Constructors Championship, this creates a dichotomy between wanting to win for yourself, while the team may 'order' you to stay behind your team mate to maximize points and minimize risk of both cars being taken out of a race in a crash, this can get very heated if both drivers in a team are within reach of the Drivers Championship. I'd say the 2022 Lineup of drivers is one of the strongest I can remember with talent all through the field, () denotes team initials. There's the Old Guard of Fernando Alonso (A), Lewis Hamilton (M-B), Sebastian Vettel (AM) with 13 Drivers Championships between them. The guys who have not yet won a Championship but who are solid Drivers with a ton of experience, Sergio Perez (RBR), Carlos Sainz (F), Daniel Ricciardo (McL), Valteri Bottas (AR), Kevin Magnussen (H). The current exciting young blood, Max Verstappen (RBR) (reigning Drivers Champion), Charles Leclerc (F), Lando Norris (McL), Esteban Occon (A), Pierre Gasly (AT), George Russel (M-B), Alex Albon (WR). The up and coming Rookies, Yuki Tsunoda (AT), Mick Schumacher (H) (Son of the Legendary Michael Schumacher), Zhou Guanyu (AR). Then finally the 'Pay' drivers (Drivers who give more money to the team than they take out to 'buy' a seat, still ok racers who have had their moments, but looked down upon for taking seats from drivers who would potentially be quicker), Nicholas Latifi (WR) & Lance Stroll (AM) (His Dad owns the Aston Martin team lol). This is how I categorize the drivers, I know some people might see things differently, don't @ me lol. The 10 Teams, in current Constructors Ranking are - Red Bull Racing (gives you... Wheels?), Ferrari, Mercedes-Benz (won Constructors/Drivers Championships x7 2014-2020), McLaren, Alpine (Renaults Skunk-works Brand), Alfa Romeo, Haas F1 (Currently the only US team), Alpha Tauri (formerly Red Bulls 'junior' team to test out new drivers, recently became 'Sister' team), Aston Martin, Williams Racing (Legendary independent team, recently fallen on hard times trying to keep up with the big spenders). Hope this helps, didn't intend for it to be such a long comment but I got really into it lol. Again, this is just my opinions, I actually struggle picking a favourite/saying who I'm a fan of, as I always find myself following 3-4 drivers a race, probably would call myself a Bottas fan, enjoyed when he was putting in performances for Williams a few years ago before moving to Mercedes, big fan of Max Verstappen since he came in to the sport, hated Hamilton in the past but have to admire him for his machine like capability and ferocious racecraft that's brought him 7 Drivers Championships.

If you were sitting in there , your head would get so heavy, it would break your neck or make you pass out at once.Under that kind of forces they need to do the most finest and accurate and lightning fast reactions.
    They have so much downforce for doing that, they even could race upside down on the ceiling of a tunnel for instance. And what you you think, what would it take at a pit stop, ( which is required) to change 4 tires? They do it in under 3 seconds; The record is even under 2 seconds . For 4 tires! . Formula one is probably one of if not the best modern motor racing sport ever. Especially this year and the new generation of formula one cars there is going to be a lot more close action racing.
    Also your question about how easy are they to drive. They are easier to drive than any other form of Motorsport solely because of the amount of downforce they have basically gluing the car to the ground. This isn't saying they aren't hard. There is a reason why the worlds greatest racing drivers are in Formula One. These cars go quicker than the brain can compute and these drivers train their brain to the point where their reaction time is 3x faster than any regular human. This is the best of the best out there.

    In F1 you really dont want contact, due to the speed and fragile nature of the cars.
    Its all about quick lap times, Pit stop speed and strategies.
    Its closer to Indycar than it is to NASCar, both in the types of car and it being about Road courses (of course Indy car is a mix of Road , street and Oval. where as F1 is just Road and Street Courses)
    The cars are Rear wheel drive , 1600cc V6 Turbo Charged Hybrid engines (basically a crazy turbo charged small Petrol engine, and also an electric engine for an extra bit of kick)
    1000+ HP so , loads of power with about 700HP coming from a 1.6litre engine....which is just crazy.
    An engine you size you would expect to see in a Honda Civic, making upto 18'000 RPM (usually between 14'000 and 17'000RPM, which is an insane level of RPM, just insane.
    Top speeds of around 200-210 MPH, weight: 740 Kg/1631lb, so lighter than a VW Golf or even a Ford Fiesta (small hatchback car), but with a tiny engine and small but powerful electric motor , that together makes about 2.5 times the power of your average Ford Mustang (1000+ BHP) yet 1 Mustang weigs about the same as 3 F1 cars......
    So yeh these beasts ...are FAST!!!
    The spoilers/wings create so much down force in turn , it sucks the car to the road, so much that you could in theory drive upside down and Downforce alone would hold the car to the surface and overcome gravity.
    Downforce comes from the Spoilers/Wings, which work like upside down plane wings

    there is 20 drivers(could be more, will for sure be 22 in 2026 when Audi joins), average top speed per track is 225mph ish, they are much harder to drive than NASCAR as they pull 3.5-4gs of lateral force through each turn, yes they have pit stops but cant re-fuel during a race, driver on three tires is Lewis Hamilton, 7 time champion, overall best driver ever. Wanted to answer the questions, even though its been a while!

    For driving the cars: These guys regularly reach speeds over 200mph. Driving these cars is definitely a workout, they drink water through a hose in the helmet during the race and still lose 5-10lbs just during a race. As weird as it sounds, it is easier to turn the car when they are going faster because the car generates a lot more grip because of the downforce. The slow corners are where they really have to work the steering wheel to get the car to turn.
    Edit: There are three different tires called soft, medium, and hard. Softer tires allow for faster lap times but they wear out faster. They are required to use at least two of the three types during a race unless it is raining. They have intermediate tires for light rain and wet tires for heavy rain. Also, unlike nascar, they are not allowed to refuel the car during a race. Some teams will put extra fuel so they can drive harder, while other teams put less fuel to make the car faster because it's lighter. Strategy is often a lot of mindgames.

    There are 10 teams with 2 drivers each, the cars do about 320-360kph depending on the circuit and pull around 4G in corners. They usually have 2 pitstops per race and it takes anywhere from 2s for a fast one and 4s for a slow one (without penalties). There are faster cars in a straight line but its all about how fast they can go around the track.

    Whilst Indycar and Nascar might reach higher top speeds, these cars will go round corners much faster. So around the Austin F1 track where Indycar and F1 both race, the F1 car is 12 seconds a lap faster because of the cornering speeds.

    Few F1 facts:
    > 10 teams
    > 20 drivers
    > 23 Grand Prix this season (17 in 2020)
    > 2 Championships: Drivers and Constructors
    > Drivers race for most points at seasons end
    > teams (Constructors) have both their drivers race for most points accumulatively (which can be dramatically interesting when both drivers can compete for the drivers championship)
    > Each grand prix is about 200 miles long, excluding practice and qualifying sessions.
    > There are technical and sporting rules (aka the Formula) teams and drivers have to adhere to. Breaching them can be cause for penalties, fines or race bans.

    F1 cars go over 300 kmh.....
    And the Formula cars are designed actually to break in half so danger is lower for driver because back part (where engine is) get separated from front part where driver is sitting. They are still attached together with cables but still enough space to get far away one part from another. I do not know have you noticed but in Grojean crash car was split in half one half passed through fence other part stayed on other side of fence.

      They're not designed to break in half, and there are no cables keeping the front and the back together (because they're not supposed to break in half). The fact that it's the front of the car that caught fire in Grosjean's crash is a pretty good indication of that not being a safety feature.

    F1 is faster than Nascar by a lot!
    At the Circuit of Americas F1 lap record is 1:36:169 set in 2019. Nascar lap record is 2:13:177 set in 2022. Lap difference of more than 30 secs
    10 teams 2 drivers each. F1 is the elite of racing. Drivers will go into F1 and not come close to winning. Some that don't make the cut they will go to other series and dominate.
    Some drivers that couldn't cut it in F1:
    Alexander Rossi 2016 Indy 500 Champ
    Marcus Ericsson 2021 Indy 500 Champ
    Takuma Sato 2017 and 2020 Indy 500 Champ
    Kamui Kobayashi 2 time WEC champ and 3 time 24hr of Le Mans champ
    Buemi, Hartley, Weber, Nakajima, Senna, and McNish didn't make it in F1 but won World Endurance Championships

    Okay, they go very fast (as alr mentioned 230 mph), they have pitstops, but they are pretty different from those in NASCAR (F1 is a lot, and I mean A LOT, quicker [WR is held by RedBull Racing with 1.8seconds for the entire stop] and they only can get new tires and new front wings, no refueling) and they are pretty hard to drive and they are bloody expensive: $20.62 million in 2022 compared to about 400k for one NASCAR (meaning you can get 51.5 NASCARs per one(!) F1 car)

  • @ahox9283
    @ahox9283 ปีที่แล้ว

    There's 20 Drivers and 10 teams each team having 2 cars and a total budget of 175 million per year after the cost cap ( before mercedes, ferarri and redbull would spend upwards of 500 million per season excluding Driver salaries wich are between 2 and 50 million per year) the 0 - 60 time on these cars isnt great but they will hit 0-135 mph is 4 seconds. They turn quite easy and many drivers describe it as just turning it with their mind, its so nible light and accurate you have to be on point every single corner. that said when these cars break traction they will fly off in a heartbeat since they have no ABS, no traction control and upwards of 1000 bhp while sporting a dry weight of 900 KG dry weight being without driver, oil,fuel,... fastest speed recorded was bottas is 2016 mexican GP 372.5 KPH wich is around 232 MPH but generally the cars are a bit slower on most tracks since they have more downforce / drag bolted on to keep them stable in the corners, speeds will reach 200 mph on nearly all tracks tho with exceptions like Monaco

  • @Thatonekid12511
    @Thatonekid12511 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So they're are 10 teams 2 drivers per team so 20 cars on track.
    Race:
    You can only get points if u finish top 10. 10th=1 point
    9th= 2 points 8th= 4 points 7th= 6 points
    6th=8 points 5th= 10 points 4th= 12 points 3rd= 15 points 2nd=18 points 1st= 25 points. If you get fastest lap you get an extra point.
    Qualifing:
    There are three sessions first is 30 minutes 2nd and 3rd are only 10. If the first session your fastest lap is what is recorded for that session. The people lower than 15th don't got through to the next session (qualifing 2) in that session it's the same but anyone 11th or lower get eliminated The top ten then go through to the qualifing 3 and where they finish is where they start same for the others.
    Rules:
    You have to keep your gearbox for at least 6 races before you change. If you change it before 6 laps u get a 5 place grid penalty so you start five places back from where you qualified. There are different components in and engine and you can only replace 3 times if you replace it 4 times you get a five place grid penalty.
    End of the season:
    There is a drivers championship where all of the points individually (per driver) gets added up whoever has the most points win the title. There is also a constructors title (team) the points for both divers of their respective teams get added to their teams points again whoever has the most points win that to hope it helps.

    I would say it’s more popular in Europe but I don’t classify it as an overseas sport because it’s one of a few “world” championships that actually takes place around the world. They race in Canada, USA and Mexico for North American races.
    These cars do go faster and would be harder to drive - it’s sort of hard to judge and explain as I’m sure both racing series have their challenges but F1 has turns in both directions as well as slow, medium or fast corners. They have pit stops and they’re required to make one stop unless it’s raining, they can use the same tire or type of rain tire and they can pit more for damage. They can’t really repair the car mid race like nascar

    Formula 1 is probably the highest class of racing out there. Those cars generate so much downforce that they could drive upside down on a ceiling.
    Usually the best teams are Ferrari, McLaren, and Mercedes.
    So if not modified those would probably lose on a straight against Nascars as that enormous downforce slows them down. But if there's the slightest curve involved Nascars would have no chance. I think even on oval Tracks F1 Cars would win. They can take corners with 300+kmph / 200 mph

    You can't even begin to compare these cars to Nascar. The engineering in F1 is insane. The wings and underbody floorpan provide aerodynamic downforce to hold the car to the track. At 60 miles per hour they produce enough downforce to technically drive upside down. This generation of F1 cars have a 1.8 litre V6 engine with battery boost. In the past they have had V12, V10 turbo and V8 engines. Some of the V10 turbo cars produced 1500 HP.

    F1 top speed is probably not more or if not the same as nowadays road legal hypercar, what makes it crazy is that the acceleration that they had or the amount of time it takes for the car to reach a certain amount of speed in such a short period of time and their crazy speed while they're cornering till reaches 5G ( or gravitation force, meaning for example if it's 2G your bodyweight pull you twice as the weight, 3G three times as weight and so on and so on..)

    So for the question is F1 car harder to drive than a nascar, they're different driving styles, the cars are built very differently obviously for different situations. Also for the steering rotation is different it's at 300 degrees of rotation so they don't have to put much input to turn in. That's when it get interesting balancing steering and speed= corner speed. Last thing downforce is a huge part of the F1 cars.

    OK so basically those things are harder than Nascars, when braking and cornering they reach up to 4-6gs.
    The Top speed of one of those F1 cars is upt 370+ kph. They do have pitstops but instead of 12 seconds we look at sub 2.5 second pit stops. They are faster in nearly every aspect. Formula 1 cars are the fastest cars in the world on a a racetrack.
